Datto, a streamer/youtuber, suggested sunsetting and now look here we are. Some of his ideas are good but this one is just terrible. He does not represent the community, stop listening to him.
-
I'm here for the endgame comments with my popcorns.
-
If anyone is STILL subscribed, still indirectly PAYING HIM, you're part of the problem.
-
so only listen to him when he has a good idea? can't have both. i'd also like to point out that this forum doesn't represent the community either. both are just small portions of the total community.

7 RepliesEdited by Fed_Kanin: 5/17/2020 12:48:27 PMI am not sure about Datto, but SNTR, Aztecross, Paul Tassi plus several others have all advocated for this and I can see why it makes sense for someone who plays for a living - always something new to stream about. However sunsetting is not good for a lot (most) of the players - the RNG, the upgrade materials economy just turns it into a huge unappealing grind-fest when the rewards are transient.

2 RepliesLONO (Say no to rage) is worse imo. He blindly follows and supports anything Bungie says and does. Today he called people who disagree with sunsetting "mindless idiots"
-
3 RepliesYou've done no raids which means you haven't even participated in the tier of activity that this affects. wth?
-
3 RepliesYou are all allowed your opinions, in this case I think Datto, Bungie and many others are right. If you want to put more in a box and its full, first you have to take things out, whether its that old couch, or the car you don't drive etc, then you get to put that new shiny thing in that box. Right now, there is no room for new weapons within the sandbox as there is no room. Its going to work and provide the chase for weapons again. I personally am looking forward to the change.

2 Repliesalthough im not a fan of the streamer bad post. It is true that bungie does do everything Datto "suggest"
-
14 RepliesYou guys do know that sunsetting was done in D1 right? Twice??? It’s not like datto invented it. Grow a pair, and stop whining and blaming whatever you don’t like on him
-
ditto
-
1 ReplyMan, it was almost 2 months without datto being blamed for something. I was getting worried.
-
I can't stand ditto, rickfootis, and the other tarts of twotch, and utubers.... Can stand them and they do not speak for everybody. Always critizing and playing the game ????

Edited by Deadpool-Ark: 5/19/2020 4:38:01 AMThe people who complain about D2 are playing Destiny2? Hmmmmmm, why ? *( freedom of speech )* do not ban me. Why complain about a game and keep playing the game you lo💘e&hate so much? Where is your resolve ? Where's your reason ? All the YouTube & twitchers, YouTubers especially gakisflacco, and DMsquaretothe5thpower ! I hate this and hate that, crappy game content and still playing the game. Shame on you ! How many exotic/ legendary shotguns do we need ? Why not a new weapon type or class type ? Guardians lend me your ears. If you really want to protest do not play for 2 days, 3days, 1 week, and etc. The YouTube, twitchers, and streamers all need to make money that is why they complain so much and play so much at the same time. Hypocrisy ! They use marketing scheme to get popularity. Some streamers have memory loss. " Ohhh, I hate this game and going to stop playing. " Few hours later, " Yeah! The grind was long but I got the gun. " Hypocrisy + batsh&t nutz = Idiot consumer of bad content STAND UP GUARDIANS...EYES UP ! PROTEST THIS CRAP... I played Seraph Towers already.... stop playing for 1 day or a week. SILENT PROTEST FOR CRAPPY CONTENT. Quote from the Mandalorian, " I have spoken. " Destiny 2 quote, " Eyes up guardian ! " Has anybody questioned: 1) Why do we need to destroy the almighty ? When Rasputin can shoot it freakin now or yesterday ? 2) Why the aliens are stopping you from *( Vex, Fallen, & etc. completing Seraph Towers especially the Earth & Moon. I understand Cabal would want to stop it. From military point of view, " Last order of command. " But Fallen Dreg, hey dude, you will die to if I don't complete the Seraph Towers. 3) Why after collision course event we have to deal with another invasion of great significance? Back 2 back ????? 4) Who is the leader of Cabal now, don't know??? Since they have a huge base on Earth detonate Earth's Core? Problem solved 2 plans detonate earth's core + Almighty = Destruction 5) Since there is alot and alot *( sarcasm )* guardians all over the Universe just like Disney's SW. Why can't we see another faction or large group from outer space besides Earth's guardians ? Boring ? 6) Tower NPC's factions don't do nothing 7) Zavala is never in his office just looks out at the horizon. Boring ! 8) again Almighty collision course, Alien space craft shaped like eggplant colored doritos coming this way. Will we see dark guardians who are brainwashed and fight the earth based light guardians in a civil war ? That would be cool right ? 9) Tell the story..... make it epic From a concerned guardian who has never completed a Raid in your game. Paying consumer since D1. Signing off

Edited by Bertram253: 5/18/2020 11:40:06 PMAnd he never will. But don't think he is at the origin of sunset. Only lack of new cool guns due to the meta being full led to sunset.

Edited by AEZiR: 5/18/2020 8:25:48 PMWant to complain about streamers wanting the Whisper nerfed, adding harder content, or some video by Datto that may I add didn't come out AFTER the director's cut on sunsettinf? Here's things streamers DIDN'T want and got anyway: -Luna's Howl/NF nerf -A poor reward structure for reckoning -An unrewarding Trials experience -Lack of dedicated servers -The 2.8 sniper nerf for PVE -Warlock and Worldline skating nerf -Menagerie chest farming nerf -The complication of masterworking and and enchancing -Elemental armor affinities -Lack of nightfall rewards, including grandmasters -Lack of vendor refreshes -Lack of meaningful raid rewards Even Datto himself in his first video on D2 Eververse, he explicitly states that he, as a player, doesn't like locking certain items outside activities. This list is just some of the things they didn't like, and these things also overlap with what we want. If Bungie is indeed only listening to influencers, then A) they'd already be on their dev team and B) the official subreddit for feedback wouldn't exist. This isn't happening because, GASP SHOCK HORROR, influencers aren't game designers. I have to defend them because the Destiny community is supercalifragilisticexpiali-TRPCIOUS at getting anything meaningful done. You guys are complaining about a handful of streamers, yet you guys are over here on Twitter defending Bungie's slow and poor response to fixing The Lie quest. Weren't y'all the ones saying if a problem like The Lie happened in Eververse, Bungie would be all over it? So why are you letting Bungie get away with the state of a community quest? The problem here isn't streamers; it's this community.

Sunsetting weapons in a game with literally hundreds of weapons, with the expectation that every new season or expansion will introduce new weapons, is to be expected. However, this is not to say that I'm enthusiastic about the idea nor that I support it in Destiny. I already stopped playing D2 because of Bungie's push to make each season's gear obsolete with each new season so you have to spend each season basically just re-farming the gear you just got done grinding for (assuming you even got the gear you were grinding for). I would support the idea of "sunsetting" gear if this were any other game with literally hundreds of weapons to choose from, but when it just feels like an extra layer on top of a seasonal system that already sunsets our gear, added on top of a game model which consistently sunsets our gear so we can be forced to repurchase it later... this just pushes me further away. Simple fact is, Bungie's been "sun setting" our gear since D1 launch, doing so by not allowing our gear to be upgraded to the new cap in multiple expansions. Then, they would turn around and at a later date, reintroduce that item which you had to purchase a new expansion to re-obtain. Sun setting isn't new to Destiny by any means, which confuses me because Bungie stating "we're going to start doing this thing now, even though we've literally been doing it for years" is entirely redundant. This simply tells me they're going to start doing it more frequently, which is a massive turn off for me. You could also argue that Bungie's pvp nerf/buffs are another form of sun setting. When Bungie nerfs a weapon class and buffs another, every time they purposely rotate the meta, it's literally the same thing as "sun setting" as you are making one weapon class obsolete while making another superior. With each season, they promote a few specific weapon classes via artifacts, while the previous season's promoted weapons lose their artifact perks. Again, another form of sun setting. Now, they'll be sun setting specific weapons on top of the already constant weapon/armor sun setting. Aren't you supposed to be encouraging me to come back, Bungie? 'Cause it really feels like you're constantly finding ways to remind me why I stopped playing.

Edited by Braata-Lr: 5/17/2020 3:46:09 PMPeople will find the best of the new weapons and only use them. It will be the same. If they don't want everyone using the recluse... well then stop making those op guns. Sun setting is dumb. This will turn into year one of Destiny 2.

6 RepliesEdited by AT0MIC7: 5/17/2020 4:43:52 PMCan’t agree more. Even on Twitter I ask simple questions like when will there be double infamy again and they don’t answer. But when I see a streamer or YouTuber asking a question or even a comment that is irrelevant, bungie, dmg, or cozmo responds to them. These people have too much influence.
-
7 RepliesBeen browsing the comments and you have yet to prove your point to people that actually have a functional brain. Stop hating on content creators and actually place the blame on Bungie for once, they're the ones that make these changes to their own game, not Datto or anyone else.

1 ReplyBungie has stated in the past that they cannot keep up with the workload of having a vendor refresh every year as well as a bunch of new guns every year. It wasn’t that long ago that they said that kind of pace wasn’t realistic for them and they actually referenced that season of the drifter, black armory, and season of opulence was too stressful for them.... yet here people like you are saying you don’t even know how many guns they are going to release..... honestly it will probably be somewhere around five new guns a season and a whole bunch of old guns thrown in as well. This is what they have been doing since shadowkeep which by the way was the SMALLEST yearly dlc to date. They haven’t been releasing much content this year and their excuse was once again.... we cannot keep up with the model we had before shadowkeep and it was too stressful on our developers. This was their whole reason for shifting to the current model.... well that and money but as I was saying. I should take this time to mention that Forsaken, Season of the drifter, black armory, and season of opulence all put together added less content than The Taken King did back in destiny 1. In the taken King we experienced gear retirement but what came with it was an across the board refresh to every vendor in the game. This included crucible, vanguard, new monarchy, Dead orbit, Future War Cult, Iron Banner, Trials of Osiris, Prison of elders, Petra Venj..... those were just the vendors. We also got all new strike specific loot, all new exotic quests, all new world drops, and a bunch of new exotic weapons and armor. That is why the taken King was ok but this is not. Bungie will not be able to do that kind of update to weapons and armor every single year considering we have had the same set of iron banner weapons since forsaken, the same set of vanguard weapons since forsaken, the same set of crucible weapons since forsaken, and the same set of gambit weapons since forsaken. They did add a few more weapons for gambit prime and reckoning but that came in a different dlc and it was the only weapons they released for that dlc..... unless they take the taken king approach to this(which they won’t) this will only piss off and alienate their community after this falls flat on its face.....

3 RepliesEven mesa Sean and others said its a good idea why? Because they are running out of ideas what to review -blam!- them

8 RepliesCan I ask why we only attribute things we don't like with streamers requests? But, let's take for example, literally every streamer complaining about trials and it's rampant cheating problem or when they asked for the removal of enhancement cores(datto) or a return of interesting and powerful loot Those very rarely if ever make it into the forums for consideration?
