Bungie, I have always greatly admired Destiny and I have been playing it since the beta launched for Destiny 1 on my Xbox 360. I live in an area where the internet is still waiting to be improved and runs at speeds typically around 2 Mbps. Today you restricted my ability to play Destiny 2 simply because I live in a disadvantaged area. This makes me unbelievably sad that a developer I have loved and followed for years through both Halo and Destiny has decided to steal content from me that I paid for, for no reason other than that I live in a disadvantaged area. This is honestly blatant discrimination against disadvantage areas and makes me incredibly sad that a company that claims to be "inclusive" is in fact gravely discriminatory. Last night before your ban went into effect, I helped a fellow guardian obtain their recluse for the first time, and then you banned me, Making certain that I can no longer make memories with my fellow guardians in the amazing place that is the crucible and trials of osiris. I never left Destiny, even when there was less to do during a season, and I kept coming back, but when you actively force me away from playing Destiny, I am made inconsolable. Please Bungie do not force a player base, in this time when internet bandwidth is scarce because of children being home for school due to this virus, to give up your game and destroy your franchise.
Something else of note, is simply that I never violated your code of conduct. Simply having internet that causes lag is no form of cheating, hacking, or any other misconduct. I simply chose to buy and play Destiny 2, and am under fire for it.

12 Repliesthere are only 2 reasons one can be restricted from pvp activities, one is connection issues and the second is cheating/playing with a cheater. I am going to assume it is the former and post bungie's statement on connection restrictions along with their tips for improving the connection.
Beginning soon, players with the most unreliable connections will receive an in-game warning. We know that connection quality is fluid, so don’t worry if you have occasional, temporary issues. If you receive one of these warnings, please visit the Network Troubleshooting Guide. If your connection does not improve, there are additional guides available that can help you in diagnosing advanced network issues. If all else fails, contact your ISP for assistance. If your connection does not improve after an in-game warning, and we continue detecting a negative impact on other Guardians, restrictions from PvP activities may be applied to your account. If a restriction is applied to your account, you will be unable to participate in PvP for two weeks. If you continue to play on an unreliable connection that harms the experience of other players, that restriction may be extended.
(source) If for some reason you are not able to improve the stability of your connection, it is recommended to refrain from playing pvp activities as the negative side effects of your connection will lead to longer restrictions. Connection based restrictions: 1st is 2 weeks 2nd is 2 months 3rd is permanent If you would like assistance in troubleshooting, please list: Tested up and download speeds Latency Jitter Packet Loss How are you connected to the router *I am not a Bungie representative, just a player trying to give the answers that are available.

7 Replies1. This isn’t discrimination...as they didn’t restrict you because of where you live. 2. They restricted you because you chose to play knowing you had a connection that didn’t meet the minimum connection requirements.
