Gaming companies should be held more accountable for releasing games too quickly that underperform.
I’m not talking about Bungie, but they are included!
All gaming companies should be held accountable for releasing fast half -ass mediocre junk at full price, and then not offer a decent refund!

4 RepliesA guy I used to work with once said something very insightful. He said, "You don't eat at McDonald's because the food is great. You eat there because its **fast**." The point? You can either have your games cranked out rapidly, so you always have something new. OR you can have your games done RIGHT, but that will require you to tolerate some droughts, much longer development cycles....and probably higher prices. But you can't have both.

First, games are considered software. When you buy the game you are buying a license to play the game. It is up to the developers if they want to let you refund it. Second, if you want them to be held accountable you stop buying their games. It is also your responsibility as a consumer to buy something that you deem worthy. A game company is a business that looks for max profits just like any other company. They have to pay their employees, new hardware, utilities, etc. As games get harder to develop you can't expect them to come out with games within 2 years of a development cycle. Once people stop paying for the games they deem unfinished, companies will have to rethink their strategies. If people are still buying their games then there is no reason to change.

Games are the only product that people are ok with being broken when they buy it. I believe Jim Sterling said it best. eAAArly access. If games are going to release as essentially early access, they should cost like they are, $30. Early buyers don’t have to pay the rest when it’s a complete product. That’s a fair price for an undercooked, buggy and content lacking game.

Be held accountable? Sure. A game should receive plenty of criticism for its genuine flaws. Be refunded? Nah. Don't buy things uninformed, and you won't need to get refunds.
