Is the sea level rising?

I just watched an excerpt from the Today show about climate change. They stated that a mass amount of water has rushed into the ocean from Greenland. Enough to cover the state of Florida. They then went on to say that there is enough ice on Greenland, that if it would melt, sea levels would rise 25ft. This is confusing to me.... Other research that was done a couple years ago stated that we have not seen sea levels change because of the weight of the water deforming the Earth's crust. https://www.newsweek.com/climate-change-sinking-ocean-rising-sea-levels-772862
Which, in my opinion, is false but we won't get into that.
I wish scientist would make up their minds as to wether the sea level will rise and overtake some of the land masses or that the oceans will get deeper. I'm just.....really confused is all

Take a cup of water. Put an ice cube in it. Watch the water level. Then take ice, melt it, and add to water again. You’ll find the levels to be the same. So it’s really silly for scientists to think the Greenland ice whatnot thing raises the sea level lol.

    • Fun fact. When a liquid freezes the solid takes up more space than the liquid. Did you ever put a water bottle in the freezer? Or a soda can in the freezer? Here’s what happens... the container is not big enough to hold it, so it bends it outwards or breaks it... So if the icecaps melted then the water level would actually sink if the sea level did anything. Another thing, there are air pockets in the ice caps I think, so that would be more space for water to be in, meaning a lower sea level.

    • The idea of the weight of the water is pressing down and deforming the planet is very probable. The Eath's crust is broken up into sections (the tectonic plates) which are floating on the Eath's molten mantel down to the molten core of iron. So it's like pressing down on boards covering a pool or water bed, they'll compress the water (magma) with little change to the surface...until the pressure becomes too great. As for the ice covering Greenland being able to raise sea levels 25ft, I really doubt it. That would take an impossible amount of ice for Greenland to hold in order for that to happen.
