Upcoming transmog system

I have watched a few videos on the upcoming transmog sysytem, I also read bungies post about it but I am still somewhat lost. On the post (linked above) it says:
"As of this September, all Eververse armor is being converted into Universal Ornaments. These Universal Ornaments can be applied to all of the Legendary armor sets we’re releasing this Fall. They override the look of your equipped gear while preserving the perks, mods, and stats of the original item. Any Eververse Armor you have acquired in your Collections will have its Universal Ornaments automatically unlocked for use on new Legendary armor. For example, if the song in your heart is to have your Titan roll with the 2018 Tin Man-esque Festival of the Lost Helmet, you can put it on any of the new Legendary armor coming to the game this fall. "
I happen to be unimpressed with a lot of the gear from D2 after the vanilla release in terms of looks. For instance, I happen to really like the gensym scribe gear for the hunter (especially the helmet and cloak) that you acquire from IO, and the titan spaceman gear acquired from Titan, both from year one. Unfortunately, year one gear is not up to date with roles, etc. The passage I quoted seems to suggest that older gear will be compatible with the new transmog system since it says "2018", but will it also apply to year one gear going back to year 1? I would really like to rock this gear again.

  • All eververse seasonal armor that YOU have acquired will become ornaments for all legendary armor acquired in the new expansion. This has been said multiple times. Not sure what's so difficult to understand. Eververse sets, will become ornaments. And....noone cares if you don't want to buy them.

    • What I've taken away from this is that it won't be a true Transmog system. It seems like the "Eye of the Gatelord", which appeared in the Vidoc as a seasonal artifact, will have a lot to do with our armor perks. In other words, you may be able to wear any armor, and use that to apply the perks. Thats me wishing though, and its just a thought...no evidence is out to support it.

    • If how they have been in the past is any indication on how they will handle this, all the cool looking ornaments will only be sold for silver and the new armor will be trash, to get people to buy the new ornaments

    • I too love the spaceman armor for Titan. It looks like transmog will allow any Y3 armor (shadowkeep armor) to have all the eververse armor as ornaments. In other words, any eververse armor can be applied as a visual ornament on year 3 armor. So no updated spaceman yet :( But they did say something about players being able to look how they want, and the trailer showed the Mars EP gear and some other Y1 gear, so they might be working on transmog for all Y1 gear. If that's true, then they only told us about eververse gear specifically because they are changing the way the bright dust economy works. Overall, I'm excited for universal ornaments, and I hope they do it for the spaceman armor and other destination armor sets as well.

    • This post is specifically about Eververse armour, which are all the sets obtained from bright dust or bright engrams. This will include all Eververse sets from season 1 to season 7, but sadly will not include any other legendary gear. So no, the Titan and Io gear is still being left behind, based on what we know now. There is still the chance that something like that is revealed later on.
