What is the point in using a Non exotic Sniper in PvE??? Or better yet, a Fusion Rifle. The PvE meta for special weapons is DOMINATED by shotguns and it’s not even close. Snipers are not what they used to be in PvE, they just feel like a waste of time when you can just go in and kill everything with a shotgun much easier. The Ikelos Sniper sounds good on paper, but with the nerf to box breathing on snipers(completely unnecessary) and triple tap being a god awful perk that just sounds cool, it really isn’t that good. Perks for snipers just don’t sound appealing either, and I think they need a big change on snipers, here are some recommendations I have that would make snipers better.
1.) Double their damage in PvE.
2.) Make Box Breathing on snipers back to how it was in Warmind.
3.) make things like rampage and Kill Clip last double the time or even triple on Snipers.
4.) Make triple tap reward 1 round out of no where instead of pulling it from reserves.
5.) Have firmly planted increase damage so that it’s not useless in PvE.
6.) Give Snipers more aim assist in PvE.
7.) This might be a stretch but in PvE ALL snipers should just have Box Breathing from Warmind as an Intrinsic perk, that way you can roll something like Triple Tap and another useful perk.
These might seem like Overpowered changes but in the spectrum this would just bring them in line with shotguns and reward those that decide to hang back, since that play style is pretty much outlawed in nearly all PvE activities, there is a reason Scout Rifles and Snipers and other long range weapons are under used, and it is because there is no reason to play that style, and in my opinion bringing that style of play as an OPTION instead of alienating it would be good for the state of PvE as it will bring diversity to fireteams instead of everyone saying, “Do you have a Shotgun,” for nearly every encounter, not even nearly, EVERY encounter. And with that being said, Fusions need a buff too, as they’re just bad in pretty much everything.

1 ReplyThe only time I use is a shotgun in PvE is if I have a bounty to complete. Otherwise it's either a scout and pulse or scout and hand cannon.

Sniper Pve body shot damage needs a buff dregs, goblins, acolytes etc shouldn't survive a bodyshot period.

6 RepliesWoahhhhhh thereeeee. No doubling the length of rampage and kill clip on snipers, that would destroy the crucible

4 RepliesSnipers are good. I always have either a snipe or linear fusion on when playing strikes. I’m just assuming you think that snipes are bad strictly because they aren’t as good as shotguns but then didn’t consider they have 100000000x more range.

I use recluse

1 ReplyEdited by Orpheus Kell of Oracles: 4/24/2019 1:53:19 PMYou’re 100% correct, snipers are only useful in very specific situations but otherwise there’s much better options and the nerf to Whisper was insult to injury. D1 snipers and shotguns are an even trade-off but snipers are virtually useless in D2.

3 RepliesShotguns are not the meta for PvE,mainly only used in forges and LW/SotP which most do not do anyway.

A bit like what's the point in using paragraphs 🤔

3 RepliesShotguns require you to be close and vulnerable, snipes allow you to be far and safe. It's risk vs reward. I do think shotguns are generally OP though which is reflected by their popularity. They need to be brought down a touch more and they'll be fine.

2 RepliesI don't think you have used triple tap on a sniper haha. Fusions are really good. Loaded question melts everything fast. I think for casuals shotguns are easier to use. Skill gap to high for you 😂😂😂

I approve of the buffing approach. 👍

5 RepliesWell I don't know about you but my fusion rifles kick some serious booty in PvE.

Fusion rifles work fine if you use them right. Snipers or sniper flinch i understand why its pointless. I main fusion rifles over shotguns unless its a raid which i dont raid anymore.
