Deaf ears. That is where your suggestion falls with Bungie. Toon editing has been suggested on this forum since about day two of Destiny year one and in over 4 years not a peep from Bungie about it.
The only thing Bungie has done was to allow wearing of helmets in social spaces in hopes that everyone would stop asking for 'transmorg'.

Unfortunately this franchise is built on an outdated engine. Simple environment changes take many hours to compile. This causes many issues with content. My guess is the Bungie engine cannot handle player made changes which is why they have been silent for 4+ years. Their "fix" was to allow wearing helmets in social spaces so no one had to see their toons faces.

Not a clue. I jumped ship after Warmind as I did not like the direction the game was going after D2Y1. I have no regrets.

Besides, would you want to go public and say that your flagship 10 year franchise is built on an upgraded Halo engine that is older than some of the players?

This IS Bungie we are referring to. Going public with problems has never been their strong suit, if you recall the XP-gate episode last winter.
