This is in regards to the base enemies we fight. When we deplete their hp they always disappear in to that swirling energy. When that happens are they actually killed? Or do they just return to whatever realm they were in at the time?
-
That depends. You think you can kill a fourth dimensional being?

Edited by FdYAcsoyPKN83gLE: 10/5/2018 7:37:29 PMBased on flavour text, I like to think that whenever we kill invading taken in D1, they are just banished to whatever realm, and then for some time, they invade again?
-
I think they just revert to their regular selves.

2 RepliesEdited by GrimmL0rd87: 10/3/2018 4:25:10 PMThey now praise the god that cannot die...
Edge Transit ;)
1 ReplyI took it as permanently sending them to where they came from. Haven't read the lore but isn't take being put into the Taken place then back out?
-
I don't think we have a clue of what happens and I don't think Bungie does either to be honest. Sometimes they get sucked into a portal when they die, sometimes they fall over and turn into galactic goo, sometimes (mostly Taken bosses) just fall over and die like a normal little bluebie, so who the hell knows.
-
I always believed that when we kill them, the taken goop get's sucked up back to the acendent realm and it takes the dead lifeless body with them That body then floats in endless nothing never to be seen again But that's just my theory
-
Probably the darkness retreating or something like that
-
Based on Dialouge from the Dreaming city strike. Petra says we need to free the Techyun from The taken hold, BUT not kill her. So Id say it is possible to kill a taken but also possible to not
-
Start D1 go to Eris and she will give you an answer "Taken king killed but not destroyed" I miss her optimism

4 RepliesEdited by TitanMasterOG: 10/3/2018 9:14:19 PMSpeaking of taken are they a new enemy type or just the regular hive?
-
Consider both death animations. One, a body shot, the Taken simply justp. disintegrates. The second, the one you are talking about or the headshot, looks like a portal opens and they get sucked in. When you look at when a Taken spawns without the little blight circle, it looks like they jumped through a portal, right? My guess is we shot or hit them so bloody hard, we sent them back through their portal in little pieces.
-
well bungie did describe it originally that when you killed one they basically got whisked away back to the dark dimension they came from, or something like that. but i think, at least most of the time they do die.

3 RepliesI think theres somebody new leading them we don't know about. "Whatever you kill oryx will replace" maybe someone else is at the throne.
-
It's unknown whether or not they truly are "Dead". As far as we know, being Taken simply overrides your will, telling you that suffering over but will use your body with a host of new abilities. So when they're sucked back into that vortex, I can only assume that the Taken Body and soul were sent back to the dimension they were created in. In this case, the Ascendant Plane.

6 RepliesTechnically they can’t die they’re slaves to everlasting life to the hive or the one who controls the power. We’re just slowing them down like we do with the vex
-
Only if you destroy their head they do that. Now see what happens when you destroy their body.
-
4 RepliesEdited by Trollefix: 10/3/2018 11:27:08 AMThis explains why they are in every expansion since dawn of time. They never die Omg we are never getting rid of those lag switching annoying things.

2 RepliesI think about how many Fallen we slaughtered over the years, killing house after house and servitor after servitor. Jeez at some point you’d logically think that the solar system would just run out of Fallen...
-
Taken can only be killed as of what is known is killing them in a hive throneworld. Same goes for hive gods which is why crota is dead
-
They return to the nearest blight or go back to the throneworld where they were made. They regenerate then come back.
-
SGA They aren’t real kiddo 👶
-
According to the "lore" any level of taking is possible. It's just shitty writing, used to make excuses for gaps in logic. Most likely, a taken form was a completely new creature before destiny 2. How else do they explain things like critical spots being moved? Now, it's basically a buff that can be removed by some people...
-
Probably, if they end back up where they were taken, the darkness would probably destroy them for their weakness.
-
Taken/Ascendant Hive can only be truly killed if they’re killed in the Ascendant Realm.
