I try to be patient in heroic strikes.
I'm fine if someone is underleveled, we were all there once, it can't be helped.
I'm fine if someone is using weapons that don't match the burn, sometimes you have to use non-optimal loadouts to keep your light up.
But from now on, if both my teammates are underleveled and using non-optimal weapons and they can't be bothered to at least switch to a subclass that matches the burn, I'm just gonna leave.
Subclasses don't effect light level, by the time a player has access to heroic strikes they should have all their subclasses unlocked.
If they're not willing to put forward the minimal amount of effort to at least try to contribute then I'm not willing to carry them.
Not everyone is going to have a good loadout when they start doing heroics but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect everyone, especially those in in such a worst case scenario, to make every effort to try.
EDIT: I think some people are missing the point. It's not just about the subclass. If someone is going into heroic strikes while they are underleveled and unable to equip a burn matching weapon the least they can do to try and catch up is use a burn matching subclass, otherwise they just won't be doing enough damage to really contribute.
Not doing so indicates to me that they're either too lazy to pay attention to the mods or that they're expecting me to do all the real work.
If someone is at an appropriate light level I could care less what they're using.
If someone is using a loadout that indicates that they're at least trying to pull their own weight then I'll stick around.

Lol, the singe is fairly useless. Have you noticed when arc singe is on it’s void that really hurts!!!
-
1 ReplyIf you are relying on singe to help complete a heroic strike you really aren’t as badass as you think you are.
-
1 ReplyI use the subclass I want. The modifier is Singe, a superficial burn. It’s not like in D1. When it was a Burn and it made a big difference.
-
Or Fist Of Havoc Strikers who aren't using the melee when the Brawler modifier is on
-
It's singe, not burn. Learn the difference before you come on the forums crying.
-
1 ReplyI ran nightstalker hunter last night with orpheus rig on. I knew the singe was arc, but I thought it would be better to run this stance to help with orb generation and mob control. I did however have an arc energy and power weapon equipped. Also, one more thing to consider. The strike challenges don't always mesh with the modifiers properly. The singe is Arc this week, but then they give you a challenge to kill "X" enemies with solar weapons. Or they require you to use a void subclass to get kills. Perhaps those you see that aren't matching the modifiers have good reasons for it.
-
Honestly I feel like they need to buff the advantages in general. Arc, Solar, and void singe needs to do a little more damage. Grenadier needs to give more grenade energy and charge faster. And the melee modifier needs to charge faster and deal more damage to warrant being close to enemies.

Bungie's fault for having weekly burns that are different from the daily ones. Really stupid to have arc burn this week but if you want to complete your challenge you have to use the daily burn.
-
1 ReplyUmmmm... Sounds reasonable, but- Sometimes the challenges require a different element than the burn. Some of us like a challenge. Sometimes, you can actually do more damage by picking an element different than the burn. I have a larger problem with things like bunny-hopping hunters with GROUNDED modifier, teammates who charge ahead on a speed run with GLASS as the modifier, people who never once fire a heavy when HEAVYWEIGHT is the modifier, etc. The burn is only a rather small part of the strike.
-
3 RepliesWith one raid clear I highly doubt you’re carrying anyone through anything... It’s a strike! I couldn’t care less what my teammates use. Maybe the daily modifier is different from the weekly. Maybe they’re trying to finish a catalyst. Maybe they ran out of mods. Who am I to tell someone else how to play? Mind your own ❄️!

9 Repliesyeah I don't know about this one..... this week, burn is arc singe. yesterday was black hole. so I go in as a hunter and I'm supposed to be an arc strider, so I can get in nice and close to thralls and get bitch slap killed? I don't think so. if I'm doing heroic strikes as a hunter, I'm going in as a Night Stalker. I don't care about the burn. I can go invisible, with orpheus rig I have orbs for days, etc. maybe, MAYBE I go in as a golden gun with celestial for a particular boss we can kill real quick. just got in and have fun and stop worrying about what everyone else is doing....
-
I find that the best combo for someone who is underleveled is a nightstalker hunter and tractor cannon, regardless of the burn. Thats just my opinion, and I see the point of doing your best to match the burn (singe), but since the effects of the songs are less dramatic than the burns on D1, it matters less to me about the damage, and more about the utility. An underleveled characyer who knows when and where to use a tether, creates tons of orbs, and can use the tractor cannon to blast enemies away from the group when we get swarmed and on some cases, blast yellow-bars off of ledges for an instant kill, is way more useful than a few extra points of damage from a matching singe weapon.
-
Agree that everyone should be using either a matching class or weapons. With the mods now it's easy to change your element type on weapons. Nightstalker is a good support class in most any event regardless of singe but they should balance with weapons that match burn.
-
The "burn" is hardly noticeable. Hence it is referred to as "singe." So yeah, negligible.
-
I'll change sub-class on my Titan, but I don't bother changing weapons. The benefit of Singe is so minimal it's almost non-existent. Not matching the burn doesn't affect my performance in any way shape or form, and I couldn't care less what other people use. I didn't even care what people ran in Destiny 1, you know, the game where burns actually made a difference. You must be getting some bad luck on teammates, especially if it is taking an hour to finish the strikes. I don't think it matters that the modifiers are with teammates like that.
-
Lmao. I’m not changing my load out for a measly 25% boost in damage. I’ll stick to my graviton lance.
-
3 RepliesWhen I’m using matchmaking for Heroics as opposed to running with my clan mates I always check out the randos I’m matched with. As you said. If they don’t match weapons with burn and also subclasses(tether being the exception) then I leave. No carry from me.
-
2 RepliesI think another issue are the challenges. Let’s face it, the daily challenge has “100 solar kills as a fireteam” but you have void burn on....... GG Bungle. Another thing you’ve consistently f’d up on.
-
I like the fact the you do give your teammates a chance to figure things out. Some people don’t.
-
1 ReplyBlame Bungie. It's always nice when it's arc burn but the challenges say "kill 50 enemies with void weapons" or something. Genius.
-
8 RepliesI main a hunter and my nighthawk will do more damage to a boss then any other hunter subclass. No need to change.
-
1 ReplyMy experience is that unless its got heavy payload as a modifier, the weapons don’t seem to make a significant difference anyways. The current “burns” seem weak as hell for us, but for enemies they seem really strong.
-
Weapons should match as a minimum. Subclass is less important given the small amount of damage our shit does.
-
I always match both weapons . subclass and an armor set. Its just smart.
-
If I run titan I run hammers no matter the burn melting point is just too strong for boss damage
