Bungie. Please rework warlock class abilities.

Before this gets downvoted to oblivion by every hunter main who ever played destiny, I have questions that need to be addressed by Bungie. Warlocks have been shit since the beginning of d2. It's time to see some changes. • How is it that EVERY hunter super can decimate every other super in d2? • How is it that titans still don't have a one and done shutdown super? (ONE SMASH PLEASE). • How is it that warlocks are STILL a pile of shit in PvP even with the dawnblade buff? I actually like playing other subclasses but that's not an option since every single super they have STILL gets melted by literally every hunter super? • Why does shadowshot still tether through walls? • Why doesn't stormcaller lightning chain to 5+ targets compared to d1? • Why does the warlocks Ad-clearing subclass do such terrible damage in ALL activities compared to other supers even though arc-strider has a further distance and lasts almost two times longer (even WITH transcendence)? • Why does a class so reliant on grenades abilities have to wait 45 seconds to use them (mods are shit don't tell me to equip more). • why did speed update not apply to stormcallers when it was applied to dawnblade (don't tell me that's op when goldies have 6 shots that cross map)? As far as I'm concerned, I'm just going to start maining a hunter, because clearly someone at bungie has a hard-on for them.

  • Start up a Titan level everything up. Play the hell out. Then you can come and complain. That or just practice at getting better with your warlock. Or just stop playing PvP.

    ... i really really hate to be that guy, but maybe its not the class being bad? I am honestly sorry to say but you might be using the supers and class abilities wrong. Dawn blade you want to jump as high as possible and in PvP pop it around a corner and float into the area and then rain down fire on anyone you see, takes a second to get used to the arc of the flames but it works wonders. Use the solar grenade as a door / corner blocker or in PvE as a means to do constant damage on stationary targets, and fusion or firebolt grenades as something to toss into groups of enemies before running in. Stormcaller you want to either A - pop it on top of someone if you are using landfall, or B - pop it just outside the area you want to attack if using the other set. Then you want to quickly move around and stay at the maximum range to hit targets with lightning while lining up chain hits; this goes for both PvE and PvP. Its super good for clearing points on control if you time it right or clearing our a large number of entrenched enemies in PvE. You also want to use the grenades as a means to hit large areas or force people to move where you want them to. Voidwalker you want to use your grenades as a means to break up clustered enemies or to hit things around corners. If you get into melee and are using the devour melee GO FOR THE MELEE KILL, it will give you a huge boost and has good range. In PvE if running devour try to keep it up as long as possible for fast recharge times. Use nova bomb as a rocket launcher round, hit anyone using their super to shut them down or to clear a point of multiple enemies or in PvE to do a large amount of damage to a boss in the final phase of the fight or take out a tough enemy before its a problem. If you are using the tracking novabomb make sure you fire it off with alot of room for it to move around and not in close quarters. honestly warlocks feel near perfect in PvE right now as a warlock main, only thing i'd change is dawn blade's super could do slightly more damage to AI (as could fusion grenades) or at least leave a burning patch on the ground for longer. In PvP they are really good if you get clever with rifts and grenades and use supers properly.

  • Your description of godly Hunter supers sounds a lot like lag. Lag and poor hit registration being the D2 meta! From my perspective, they are definitely not godly. ShadowShot is now a planned and often wasted placement because of the activation delay, doesn't ohk and can now just be avoided when fired. The nerfed dodge means now it's a strategic decision to use it otherwise you're dead-usually right after you actually reach cover! Grenades are poor; no buffs - Vortex is easy to avoid, VoidWall always procs the wrong way, Spike is good if it tags. Smoke - nerfed! Invis good. GunSlinger: the best of the subclass inexplicably removed for D2 for the sake of 'team utility'......?? Really? On a Hunter?? The lone-wolf subclass, the anti-team subclass, the coolest, baddest of ass subclass? A bit like giving a fish a Rubicks Cube. What the actual -blam!-!? No DR in super, 6 shots- very quick and puny, no burn on Knife except in 6 shots (that no GunSlinger wanted!) TripMine Lighthouse does not ohk. GunSlinger is not in a great place at all. I think the comic lady must have signed off on the GunSlinger redesign for D2... The only thing I'll say about Arc is; a punch for a melee!? Just no Bungie people! No! You let yourselves down there. Godly in PvE. You are right though about Warlocks themselves (not in comparison to Hunters op abilities). I just cannot get on with them in D2 and loved them in D1. Everything about the class feels laboured and ponderous. Glide is so slow, rift deployment animation...'Oh I'm dead!', grenades are very poor for Void, Nova-bomb changes -daft, in-air abilities with nerfed in-air abilities across the board? Really? How is that supposed to work?

  • You must be playing against god hunters because if I pop golden gun while anybody else has their super active it's a two shot kill if not in the head (enough time to get hit by a hammer or dawnblade and die instantly). If I use arcstrider (worse bladedancer) it's just spam the B button and either get slammed by a titan or nova bombed. If I use nightstalker I can directly hit you and you will not die and will most likely kill me before you're even suppressed. I've played all of the classes and by far warlock is the best because of voidwalker and its tracking nova bomb or dawnblade and its incomparable speed with burst glide. (Masterwork armour may have something to do with the damage of goldengun) I believe that warlocks are the best to play in crucible without a doubt.

        • I don’t care so much about balance, I just don’t think warlock is nearly as fun to play as it was in D1. There were plenty of builds to play with in D1, whereas in D2 you get slova bomb or shitty blast radius nova bomb, storm caller with blink or storm caller with arc souls, dawnblade with the sword slam and health regeneration dive, or dawnblade that lets you shoot in the air. Maybe it’s me, some of these feel like chores, leaving only 1 tree per subclass that’s fun to play, and then to get boring because it’s all you can play. Maybe it’s because my warlock is my main and I’ve put significantly more time on that character, but I feel the other classes have more choice for fun.

            The warlock currently is in a great place. Nova bomb...shut down super/spirit bomb. Storm caller...you're basically ramuh/raiden. Dawnblade...should be renamed angel of death because you basically become an AC-130. When used properly this is probably one of the most devastating subclases in PvE and PvP imo.

          • The dialing back of abilities in The Crucible hit Warlocks the hardest (never mind all the whining from Hunters). Warlock grenades are not the worst in the game. Until they reworking of Dawnblade, they had the worst supers. In short, they got busted down from being the premier DPS class of Destiny 1....to basically being a support class. Which is why you see so few people playing them in the Crucible in Destiny 2.

          • Hmm, I mean I partially agree with you here but I would ask that you maybe offer a suggestion rather than just ask a bunch of questions. How would YOU like to make warlock more viable and fun (to play as AND against!), specifically? It sounds like you have lots of experience with warlock so I bet you have some good ideas!!

            • Learn to shoot and you won’t need your super. I’d disable all supers use in PvP. I agree though that the warlock supers are shite. Purely down to the lack of customisation of the subclass tree though. The warlock grenades need a severe buff though
