Reasonable is to throttle each chest. Reasonable is to add the requirement to obtain an item, per lost sector boss to open the chest, thereby eliminating the ability to spam the chest. Reasonable (albeit more difficult) is to directly address the glitch.
Throttling the entire lost sector loot system that was designed with several lost sectors closely geographically located who's targets are easily and rapidly defeated for the purpose of negating one glitch - that's your dev teams fault - and thereby negatively impacting an already frustrated customer base during a PR issue is less than reasonable.

Not fixing it at all might have been a PR issue as well.

No dispute. Not addressing the glitch would render the faction rally far less enjoyable for anyone that doesn't exploit. What a waist of time it would be to turn in a few "hard earned" tokens compared to hundreds of exploited tokens. However, I do find it less than reasonable to throttle the entire lost sector rewards system, particularly when there were other available remedies; remedies that are permanent, non punitive, and directly address the actual issue. I wonder how they would reconcile attaching the loot system to a throttling mechanism they've already publicly acknowledged as "flawed."

Well, Bungie knows all about going too far. Their problem was with snipers and shotgun sliding. So, do they nerf shotgun range and sniper aim a bit? Nope, they give us the special ammo nerf and the dual primary system, gutting both their games' PvP's. Not to mention nerfing Sunbreaker and several weapon archetypes into oblivion.

Absolutely concur. I think frustration with Bungie is what the original poster was alluding to with his/her overdramatic title "Is bungee intentionally trying to kill their game?" I think the community in general would be better served with a title that resembles an intelligent expression of frustration, i.e. "Why implement a flawed temporary solution en lieu of a permanent, non punitive solution?" AH! I now recognize the "hissy" being "pitched." Well done sir.
