Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from New York Zero! This city is really gross. There are zombies, like, everywhere.. And zombies are very messy eaters.
Luckily, even though my regular security guard has today off, I have this nifty temporary security guard, named James Heller here today!
Heller: “Who the hell are you?”
Haha, what a funny joke, Heller! Oh.. Wait.. Did he just.. Fly away..? Uh.. Well, I’m going to go find Papika, and tell her she doesn’t have today off, otherwise I’ll get eaten by zombies, but before I do that, I’ve got a post to run here!
We’re all individuals! We all have our own likes, and dislikes. These tend to follow certain patterns. People who are super into blood & gore, generally aren’t into whimsical things like fairies & unicorns, and vice versa.
Yet, every now and then, we find something that breaks that mold. Suddenly, you take a break from all your gory FPS games, and stumble upon the anime Flip Flappers, and realize it’s pretty much the best thing ever (which it is), despite being about fairies (which it is). How out of character for you, generic, gender-conscious, violence loving gamer!
(disclaimer: I know not all gamers follow this stereotype, please don’t kill me)
There will always be exceptions to the games, and/or genres you like, no matter how strict you standards are, so let’s talk about that!
Tl;dr? Here’s my point!
Games you like, despite the fact that you do being very out of character for you?
My answers:
Off the top of my head, I thought of 2.
The [PROTOTYPE] games. I’m very anti-gore most of the time. Decapitation, dismemberment, organs being on the outside.. It’s allvery gross. Even so, I love [PROTOTYPE] 1 & 2. Sure they aren’t the most gory games ever, but well over my usual tolerance gauge.
(Note: Bloody & gory are not the same thing—I don’t mind blood. Just gore)
Little Nightmares. Kind of going hand in hand with my anti-gore sentiment, I’m not usually too big on horror games. Aside from litering gore everywhere, they usually rely on jumpscares, and other forms of “cheap” horror. Little Nightmares on the other hand, caught my interest because of its “see the horror of the adult world from a child’s eyes”, and because it felt geniunely creepy.
I usually get anxiety attacks when I get mega spooked, so I avoid horror games. But Dead Space was a nice exception

1 ReplyBasically nothing is out of character for me. If a game is good, it is good.
-
3 RepliesXCOM. I don't like turn-based games. I don't really like the art style all that much. I know nothing about the story. But for some reason, a part of me really wants to get XCOM 2.
-
Pokemon and Earthbound for me.
I still need to finish Earthbound...
-
1 ReplyMass Effect. Strongly dislike 3rd person shooters, why i didn't finish the trilogy
the 3rd ME was too streamlined, couldn't kept my interest all the way through
-
4 RepliesI've never liked "Diablo Clones", but then I tried Diablo III, (kinda ironic) and I loved it. I must've spent at least 500 hours on that game.
-
1 ReplyNot a fan of many turn based RPGs, love Pokemon.
-
Halo wars, I don't like RTS games.
-
Stardew Valley
-
1 ReplyOxenfree for me. I'm really susceptible to jump sacred so I don't watch horror movies or play horror games, but oxenfree (admittedly not even that scary) was the exception as I played all the way through, even though I was pretty spooked (again, I'm susceptible to horror a lot). The game itself was that good.

1 ReplyThe Witness... I generally don’t like puzzle games but hearing about how great this game was I had to try it for it’s much talked about ‘mind-blowing moment’. I’m currently stuck and I’m sure I already figured out it’s mind blowing aspect, so I’m still open to liking the game, but it was unlike me to even consider playing this.

3 RepliesI like a lot of different games.. I guess one that comes to mind is Mario Kart, Because I hate being competitive... Like I only like to compete against myself and not other people. And also I’m more into single player type games especially sandbox type. But for some reason I get into Mario Kart whether it’s against friends or online.

7 RepliesSMITE. I generally hate MOBAs but playing as a god (especially Aphrodite and Awilix) is great fun. Especially with so many different ways you can build each god too.
-
I generally don't like sports games but Mario Hoops 3-on-3 was my jam.
-
3 RepliesInjustice 2. Normally I hate fighting games but there is something about injustice that I really like.
-
1 ReplyEnter the Gungeon. I've always liked Roguelike games, but I dislike "bullet-hell" styles. While ETG is more tame than others within the genre, it's actually a ton of fun. Even got my first win last night.
-
8 RepliesGenerally not a huge fan of 2D Metroidvania games, but I absolutely LOVED Dust: An Elysian Tail. Just something about that game grabbed me, and kept a hold on me from start to finish.
-
3 RepliesI’m not one for turn based games but I did have a lot of fun with Paper Mario back in the day
-
5 RepliesMod nation racers. That ps3 game was the sh*t! Was a bit odd tho, i am more of a creative/ shooter guy. Like fortnite!
-
1 ReplyTotal War series
-
2 RepliesThe Destiny 1 [Plus all the expansions up until the Taken King.] I've never been a fan of MMO's or MMO lite type games. But I spent at least a year and a half, playing only Destiny.
-
2 RepliesThe Mario and Luigi series/Pokémon. I don’t usually like turn based rpgs
-
Overwatch
-
1 ReplyHalo, Destiny and the occasional CoD... I HATE FPS’s.

3 RepliesMan, I miss Prototype. Is it on backwards compatable? 2 used to be my favourite game.
