Luke smith says static rolls were the right decision.

They really are out of touch, no wonder the game's dying.

  • Static rolls cater to crybabies and casual players who will abandon the game as soon as something new comes around. Luke Smith is an arrogant idiot. Destiny 2 has ZERO replay value and I sincerely regret the fact that I preordered it. On the upside, Destiny 2 has cured my Destiny addiction. I have no desire to play it at all.

    • As I've said before; static rolls are not inherently bad. The biggest issue is that they didn't back up their own system with any confidence. They just left them there like a turd on the lawn. If they want to go static rolls, then they need to give the playerbase meaningful ways to customize and enhance weapons. Give us a reason to want more than one version of a gun - so we can customize vastly different versions of it to match any playstyle we need. The Mod system should have covered this. It should have, but it doesn't. There should be less complaining about the static drops and more demands for a more robust and engaging mod system to make customizing more fun and interesting. I, for one, would absolutely love being able to alter the perks on my weapons with some modicum of control.

        • I like the static roles- I was one of the players that could never get a god roll grasp of malock I don't consider myself a hardcore player but I only play destiny 2 (before that it was only destiny 1) - I play every day for 2 to 3 hours during the week - and 6 to 8 hours a day on weekends Last I checked destiny 2 wasn't dead - I know that a lot of gamers on these forums want it dead

        • Sure static rolls can get boring but is it worse than playing hour after hour trying to get a Grasp of Mallok and getting crappy roll after crappy roll. Static rolls are a lot better for those that only play a few hours a week as they don't invest the time to figure out what a good roll even is. As static rolls are better for the casual player and there are more casuals than hard cores this system may just be more profitable if Bungie gets more people to play their game it was the right decision.

          • And that decision has 100% killed Destiny 2 he turned his back on the hardcore players and to be honest if it wasn’t for the hardcore players destiny 1 would of died years ago.

                I agree. Static rolls are the right decision The crying over not being able to get an item with static rolls is nothing composted to the crying over not getting the item AND not getting the right rolls. You crybabies keep saying the game is dying. Prove it. Leave the forums ass show no interest

                • They should have made mods the perks. Let each weapon be a blank canvas and let us get mods to create a gun we like. I see no difference in pvp with these static rolls as there's always going to be a meta.

                  • It was the right decision, if you want to grind for perfect guns, go back to D1, it still an amazing game, and you won't be missed from D2. Your whining is out of control.

                        I am fine with static rolls on weapons. I think it wouldn't be as big of an issue if we had some incentive in endgame to play. If we had heroic strikes, useful raid loot, and hidden black spindle like secrets people wouldn't mind the weapons so much. I actually prefer static rolls on weapons when it comes to raid loot.

                      • They -can- be well done. But the problem is they did absolutely nothing to back up static rolls. If you're going to give people static rolls, then we need a mod system that lets us fully customize our equipment in any way we desire (With an associated grind to get the rarer and better mods/perks/whatever) to make up for the lack of random stat rolls. Instead they just gave everything fixed stats, made mods borderline useless and called it a day. It is the epitome of a half-assed system. Basically, if we can't roll god-rolls then we need to be able to put effort in to crafting our own. Players need to be rewarded for their investment - not punished.

                      • My only complaint with static rolls are the limited options for rolls on each weapon. There should be 2 to 3 options per tree.

                        I don't think random rolls would've been the solution to the problem here, I wouldn't play much more just for a better devils that has reinforced barrel over drop mag, I think it's more just in the fact that there's a small amount of weapons. Before D2's launch Datto explains a perspective that much more fits into what I'm referring to here, God rolls aren't a part of "the grind". "The grind" is reaching max power and that was just made too easy. [spoiler]Even though people still complain about passing 270, I guess if it's something in the game we'll complain about it. How long until Fighting Lion becomes the next NLB? [/spoiler]
