So i have been thinking. Why the cabal and not the hive vex or fallen? The vex hive and fallen have gotten way closer to taking the city but the cabal have done nothing against directly to the city.Any insight?

7 RepliesEdited by bobswerski: 8/15/2017 5:22:59 PMWe've hit the Vex and Hive pretty damn hard with decapitation strikes, and the Vex have been fighting on multiple fronts for a while now and the Taken war was the last straw. As for the Hive, well, you don't just instantly bounce back from having your God-king and his flagship taken out. There may be 2 other Hive Gods but they are likely very far away and Oryx was singularly important to their success because he's the only one who can "take"... In the Books of Sorrow a coalition of systems known as the Ecumene nearly destroyed the Hive but ultimately Oryx won purely due to his ability to "take" the most powerful fighters and turn them against their former allies. He alone has been the Hive's trump card. The Cabal have always been this mysterious and ultra-powerful empire we knew very little about. Still have no idea what they were digging for on Mars but our conflict with the Hive in particular got their attention and now they want a peice of that sweet sweet space magic for themselves.

Edited by BaconRiot: 8/16/2017 7:52:21 PMbecause it's their turn to earn Bungie monies

2 RepliesEdited by Solarvoidlock: 8/16/2017 12:42:23 PMBecause any sane Destiny player is sick of the Fallen, the Vex, and especially the Hive. If you say you're not then you're lying, and maybe you should ask yourself what went wrong in your life.

Remember the mission "outbound signal" you do on the Dreadnaught in the Cabal ship....

1 ReplyEdited by HaouRyuk: 8/16/2017 1:55:46 AMThe real reason? a long time ago back in either 2013 or early 2014 Bungie showed their projected DLC for Destiny, it had Dark Below, House of Wolves, Kingsfall and (I think i was called) meteor which was an early title for a cabal expansion, but meteor got back burned and we got Rise of Iron instead. I think it's a case of saints row 3/4 where it was supposed to be DLC but they just said -blam!- it, sequel.

"But... why fight the Cabal?"
-
1 ReplyBecause everyone wanted a Cabal expansion...
-
The cabal where the least underdevelouped and could use some upgrades, and they also would make d2 more unique
-
Why not?
-
We shouldn't have bothered them on Mars, now they're pissed.
-
3 RepliesIt's quite obvious, dear, the hive tried to attack Earth, but the Dark Below was us repelling them. The fallen where shambles for the entire game and had recently tried. The vex aren't an assault force, they calculate and plan. But couldn't predict us so it was a stalemate. Which leaves the cabal to be the only capable enemy left, they hadn't attacked before, because they only were scouring until now.
-
2 RepliesThe Hive are broken until Xivu Arath or Savathun come to take the Taken Throne. The Fallen are regrouping. The Vex... they... I don't know? They seem to be piggybacking off our power but they also know the future now that Oryx is gone. So... why are we still here? The Cabal have been readying to fight for years now, let them have this.

My guess is that it was a gameplay choice, rather than lore-driven. Cabal were the enemy we encountered least in D1--especially vanilla. Short of introducing an entirely new foe, maybe Bungie decided players would be least sick of killing Cabal? They were certainly begging to be explored further either way, as a more disciplined military force up against our own.

The vex aren't focused on earth rn. They aren't really a species to beef w, they kill us if we were on Venus or Mars but we aren't in their direct way rn. Could be an issue soon however. Fallen don't have the numbers anymore, they were already doing bad but we have just destroyed their numbers and now they are even more scattered. There really aren't any more hive major leaders that we know of in our system, and even then we did just kill their god/king so they might need to recover/sort shit out for a minute before they attack us. Don't worry tho we'll definitely see more of the hive.
-
Ikora spurned the advances of Cabal leader.
-
We've already destroyed the main Vex threats, the Hive's major leaders that have come at us, and all of the Fallen's leaders. They will all come back eventually with more powerful leaders and there will probably be some new races sometime in the future, but not any time soon. We ended the TTK story with the Cabal sending a distress signal, which logically sets up for more Cabal to come. So, why NOT the Cabal now?
-
Because Dominus Ghaul and the Cabal (Red Legion) want the Traveler and the Light. He wants to prove that the Traveler made a mistake in choosing humanity.
-
Because giant war turtles.
-
Cabal are boring as fuuuuuuuuuuck
-
Maybe the storyline of D2 will tell us.
-
4 RepliesBecause we had no cabal raid and the hive fallen vex we have already defeated to a degree. All we ever fought of the cabal were scouts. As we know they are an immense empire and have been around a lot longer than guardians have so don't know how more advanced than us they are. For all we know bar the vex they could easily be more powerful than the rest combined.
