Care to give a cliff notes version as to the reasoning? Is it more than just monotony - after playing a raid segment for the 113th time you'd be bored/annoyed of the cutscene?

Few reasons. The first is, yeah, you'll be doing it week after week, could get boring. It would also interrupt your group as they're talking, whether that's strategizing before a fight or just shooting the shit in between.

Wondering the possibility then of maybe doing some kind of hybrid system for cutscenes. Maybe something like cutscenes during the first playthrough, or an option to turn them off (controlled by party leader)? Or even just a some sort of 10-15 sec intro for the beginning of an encounter? (Not replayed for subsequent wipes). Just spitballin'. Would like to get some kind story or context as to why we're fighting certain bosses.
