Anyone else sick of the "Chill Adults"?

So last night I decided to run a VoG raid and needed a group cause none of my friends were online. I checked LFG and my goodness...... to say it was a Sh*tshow is an understatement. There were so many posts about "Need sweaty team to complete raid" "Must have Sleeper and be 400 light" "Not accepting people who are 399" so on and so forth. After searching through the endless maze of hell I found a post which looked like an actual enjoyable group to be with. The post read as follows, "Looking for chill group of adults who wanna get the raid done." Normally I don't message people who have any requirements but I was desperate. After joining the party I was actually very pleased with the group, they were funny and knew what to do..... till we hit Templar. I forgot how the subject came up but they discovered how old I am and then started to blame things on me because of my age. Now sure I'm no damn 40 year old dad, but I'm eighteen years old and I just finished my first year at college, I kinda consider myself an adult. One of the guys, a stubborn A-Hole, wouldn't stop yelling at me for where I placed a bubble to stop teleport. I would place it on right side up high on the cliff, this pissed him the F**k off and every time he died he would yell at me for not placing it lower to protect him from the Minotaurs. He then proceeded to make the comment, "Damn teenagers don't know how to listen." TO which another "adult" agreed. Me getting pissed off decided not to place the bubble and just let the A-Hole give it a shot. Low and behold he sucks at this game and ended up dying with the bubble lower down. I made the sarcastic remark, "Looks like you die no matter where the bubble is placed." He got pissed and ended up muting me, but he still complained. We were on our 5th try and the A-Hole, to nobody's surprise, died first. I tell the others to just keep going. We lose another guy but finish the job and complete Templar, WITH ME PLACING MY BUBBLE UP HIGH. We get to gorgons and I always hold back and wait for everyone else to get through so I can go alone through the maze (I find it easier that way). The A-Hole is an idiot and ends up getting spotted by the first Gorgon, to which me blames me for getting seen. He tells me to go to orbit if I can't get through but I declined the offer. The idiot gets seen again and is about to yell at me but I decided to stay really far back so it wasn't really possible for me to make an error. We eventually get to Gatekeeper and have a ton of issues. None of the other players have ever run relic, and they wont listen to any correction I give them because I'm not an "adult." When I tell a guy he needs to hold left bumper to cleanse himself he completely ignores me and ends up dying. TO which he yells at me for not explaining it to him earlier. I eventually leave the group because I was so frustrated. But I still wanted to finish challenge Atheon. I saw another post for Atheon that said it needed two more people and didn't have any requirements. I hopped in the party and discovered it was filled with a bunch of younger kids and one Australian man. We beat Atheon in less than 3 minutes and then did the raid again on our second characters. They were a blast to play with and were open to correction if they made a mistake. Now my point to this post is to say that sure I'm technically not an "adult," but I'm a damn good raider who loves to play this game with people who are fun to play with. -DrQuaxx EDIT: I wanted to clarify to all the people commenting that I did not post this because I was merely "salty" about it. I wanted to post this because I find that it is often an issue among the raid groups I join. The younger individuals are blamed for mistakes more often than older people. So this post isn't here to complain but it's here to just state an issue (which is what the forums are for). I also want to clarify that I'm not saying all adults need to go -blam!- themselves. I clearly put in the title "chill adults". I was referring to the assholes who think that kids suck and that they are better because of their age.

  • Ever go into a raid knowing you're an awesome player, knowing all the mechanics, rarely dying, but yet still it takes you longer than it should to complete the raid because of players who die alot and don't know the mechanics? Well i want to invite everyone to a group chat i have going on. What you will need to do is download the app called "groupme" and then send me a private message either here or on my PSN: HuSeYiN_NYC with the email you used to sign in to groupme so i can add you to the group chat. You don't need to join my clan if you dont want to. The reason why i want to find good raiders is because I'm tired of trying to beat a raid boss over n over n over again because people keep messing up. Also another reason for me doing this is to stay in touch with those good players for when Destiny 2 comes out, our friends lists will consist of nothing BUT good players. Thanks for reading. Hope to hear from you soon. Peace.

      • Stopped reading at "consider myself an adult". When you have a full time job, a mortgage and bills that require actual paying, that's when you become an adult. Just because you "completed one year of college" does not make you an adult. Responsibilities, son. Responsibilities.

I really really hate the following requirement for raiding: "Must have emblem!" Excuse me, what?! Must have emblem.... It's. An. Emblem. Oh, but wait! Its the "completed raid challenge" emblem. This emblem means you are mlgpro at this particular raid. And that makes it acceptable does it.... Anyone who asks for this ""requirement"" is nothing more than an elitist, stuck up prick!!

          • Uh, these guys don't sound chill if they're flaming you for supposedly making errors. Sorry man. I'm close to their age, not quite there yet, but I never yell at a fellow Guardian. Everyone makes mistakes, and that includes me, and yelling at people just makes that worse.

              • Im growing very tired of these ridiculous requirements as well, and the whole "yr 1 player" post. Im finding that those who post that they're yr 1 ususlly cant hang anyway. Im a yr 1 player who is max grimoire, completed All quests and challenges, and dont have time for people who claim they know what to do but still need to be carried

              • "chill" is codespeak for "we won't rage quit or boot you for mistakes". I rarely join lfg's without some variation of it in the post. It's only a video game. Joining a raid with whiners or people who won't cooperate or will only play if things are done exactly their way is a different issue and has nothing to do with "chill".

              • Chill is a code word on LFG for bad teams in my experience. I go with high requirement teams of adults only. If host doesn't meet the ones he sets I leave. If there is an asshat like you described I will put up with it for only so long. More often than not kids are bossy but not so good players and have shit gear. Or never shut up. But if they're not like that they can raid with me anytime.

                • To be honest, there is a reason I don't play many raids 1. People blame others for their mistakes 2. A select few adults who think they know everything 3. Someone not listening 4. That random guy that plays dubstep or K-pop through his mic
I'm pretty sure at least 2 of these are relatable to humans, is this correct?
• I try to join the chill adults and they don't realize I am not 18 yet so I think those guys were d bags because some of my friends that I raid with a lot are pretty young but they are good at the game and it makes me mad when we go into lfg and people think we aren't good because of how they sound

                  • In my eyes, age does not matter in a video game. Since Destiny is rated T, there are bound to be a lot of teenagers playing. As long as you can hold your own weight, age should not play a part in selection of a group.

                  • In the giant pool of people raiding, you're bound to run into jerks. Doesn't matter the age group, etc. It's just the way it is.. in real life too. I ran VoG Challenge Mode this week, and I was invited randomly. Now prior to this, I did CE Challenge Mode with a chill group of adults and 1 kid. The kid was quiet for the most part, and although it took us all some time to learn the mechanics, we had completed the challenges successfully. When I ran VoG the 1st time, there was 1 kid. We did okay until another kid joined, and now the 1st kid who was cool was now talking a lot. Annoyingly. The 2nd kid kept blaming people and threatening to leave. Needless to say we didn't get very far. I got invited a 2nd time, all adults. This one went well, until Atheon. I had told them straight up that I didn't know how to do the challenge, and that I was a rusty Year 1 player. They explained a couple things, then jumped right in. Fine. The times that I didn't know what to do, I kept getting yelled at, and they were all in unison. But whenever they failed individually, they would just brush it off. I did learn quickly, and we completed the challenge. Though I wish they had explained it further and had more patience with me. To be honest, I've had a ton of experiences similar to that. Snarky jerks, or chill groups that just keep going until you get through. I've tried many times to get a permanent and organized group together, but it's difficult with schedules, etc. And so I just gave up and settled for doing LFG until Destiny 2 releases and I've completed all of my achievements. I couldn't care less about the gear or weapons.

                  • If I put up a post, I don't typically have an age requirement, just the "chill" part, I don't have patience for a group that in-fights.

                  • Same man I'm not some dad or whatever I'm not even 20 but I still do better then the majority of the team. And of course that also makes them give me the hardest jobs which is fine as long as they do theirs as well. For Templar I'm always the relic runner and I do pretty well. It's so hard though because you have to have the timing perfect or your shield isn't charged and you die to adds and Templar. Well my teammates won't do damage fast enough. I did him in a minute and thirty seconds first try and now every raid team I find take like 3 or 4 minutes so the relic runner has at least 2 Minotaurs to deal with on each side. And you know what they do... they blame me. I'm like dudes I'm working my tail off for you guys and you say I'm not doing a good job? My point here is it's not Age it's skill and the ability to listen
