I deliver pizza part-time to make extra money, and here are a few things customers should know:
1) Prank calls will get you blacklisted.
2) The pizza guy is not a change machine. Break your $100 bills at the gas station.
3) The delivery charge is not the driver's tip.
4) If you live in a gated community, give us the gate code for -blam!-'s sake.
5) One dollar was a tip in 1985. In 2017, it is a stiff. The same applies to the coin change.
6) If your pizza is 10-15 minutes late, it's because you ordered during the dinner rush.
7) Extra toppings cost extra money. Don't order a fully-loaded pizza and then complain to me about the price.
8) Turn some lights on. If your house and porch are dark, I won't even get out of the car. Setups and robberies happen all the time, and yes, I do carry a gun.
9) Most drivers keep a list of addresses that stiffed them. Don't forget, we know where you live. Good tippers get their food first. Stiffers get their food last.
10) If you are a stiffer and you order a soda, it will be shaken up the entire way over to your house.
For the "why should I have to tip" crowd:
Pizza drivers make below minimum wage because they are expected to get tips. Our wages are taxed on the assumption that we are getting tips, and we have to claim a certain amount every night regardless of whether we actually made that amount. "Well they should pay a living wage," you say? We would love that, but you would not love the $25 pizzas, now would you? Tips keep prices low. "Get a better job," you say? I already have one, as I said before, I deliver part-time for extra money.
That's all I have for right now. Feel free to share your stories/advice.
Edit: Love how these threads always bring out a few terrible people who feel like they need to defend their stiffing ways. To those people, I say: Take your business elsewhere, we don't give a shit. We get plenty of business without you, from people who aren't assholes.
Edit 2: I'm glad to see the majority of people who have commented here are good people who understand the way things are. Sad that there appears to be at least one obtuse moron who thinks stiffing the driver sends a message to greedy owners, but hey, there will always be stupid people in the world right?

2 RepliesI remember when I was a kid we ordered almost 50 pizzas for a party, they sent them all with 1 deliverer. So we helped him get them all out of the car and tipped him 100%. Which was like $220. Looking back on it, it was a nice thing to do, but probably not my best decision. ~ Making America Great Again ~
