I am a shotgunner.
I embrace that.
I respect the hell out of snipers, I wish I could be one of those guys that can quick scope on a consistent basis.
But that is not me. I am a shotgunner.
I do not run around and hipfire, nor do I slide-shotgun.
I use my shotgun as a tactical tool. I read my radar, bait people into my range, and fight mid-long range with a Palindrome when needed. But mostly, I read my radar and use my shotgun when possible. So I have to bait people into the range that's too close for a primary, but too far for a melee.
That is not easy.
Again.
I do not hipfire.
I do not sprint at you and slide while I pump buckshot into your crotch.
I am a tactical shotgun user. Tell me, am I cancer? For using a gun as it's intended purpose? I do not think so. Now yes, I agree. The other two types of shotgunners are extremely annoying. It does not take skill to bumrush someone at close range with no regard for your own life. I've been messaged over and over again by angry players for using my Matador. People swearing and saying nasty disgusting things to me because I used a gun for it's intended purpose. And that is because of the experiences they've had playing against the other two types of shotgunners.
TL;DR
You may be wondering why this is in tuning. So, this is what I propose.
First, add a harsh damage penalty or greatly reduce accuracy for hip firing a shotgun. I'm not too familiar with the numbers of it, but I feel that those two things would help eliminate that kind of a player.
Second, remove the ability to fire while sliding. Sliding should be a movement technique, or a defensive tool, not a nearly unblockable offensive weapon. I can't tell you how many times I've had someone running at me, I pull out the Palindrome, hit a headshot, hit a body shot, only to have the kill shot sail over their head because they've slid at me and replaced my genitals with tiny steel spheres.
Third, remove rangefinder from all shotgun perk pools. Yes, I use a Matador with rangefinder, but I admit that the range on it is disgusting. It unbalances the purpose of a shotgun.
Please be polite in the comments. I'd love to discuss this more

Honestly shotguns aren't the problem , it's the ammo , there is way to much special ammo to begin with , a simple fix is reduce the amount of special ammo and people will run primary weapons more , as of now you never run out of ammo

*everyone starts turning too the Matador and party crasher +1 and slowly backs up*

3 RepliesEdited by Willakkuma: 12/20/2016 1:56:34 AMSame bullshit per usual, just wordy as hell. Folks can play the weapon any way they choose. Deal with it. Tell you what Marquis of Queesbury, why don't you wave at your opponents and/or message them to declare your intent to utilize shotgun.

Edited by Orpheus49: 12/18/2016 8:32:01 PMYour not a shotguner, they need buffs to consistency, not a 10th nerf
-
2 RepliesOkay? I was with you at first but then you bring up nerfs? Nothing is wrong with the range on shotguns

2 RepliesEdited by Swiftlock: 12/18/2016 9:13:12 PMNo. Shotguns have already had numerous nerfs and Shot Package was fully removed from the game instead of being fixed or adjusted. Piling on MORE NERFS and taking away more perks will not make the game more fun or interesting right now. Shotguns are fine. Stop making our weapons weaker.

1 ReplyIt's impossible for some to be respectful when someone has an opinion that is no the same. But shotguns are on the board for tuning now. Bungie has made a statement saying such. Whether they buff primaries or just simply nerf shotguns. Something is going to happen come the new year!
-
9 RepliesIt does take skill to bumrush a guy and not die. That means you are really elusive or that guy can't shoot straight. This is why shotguns need no nerf or buff. Also slide shotgunning is not a "scummy tactic" because how else are you supposed to close the gap to your opponent fast enough?

3 RepliesEdited by LMAO: 12/20/2016 12:25:56 AMFirst two are poorly thought out reaches you should be embarrassed of, not well thought out at all... 3rd one would just make them even more useless in pve, as rangefinder adds way more range there than it does in pvp... (go test in private matches) Terrible attempt at trying to "please the community" for likes... also, I wouldn't consider yourself a shotgunner

4 Replies12' kill range is too much for a shotgun? Are you for real?
-
1 ReplyNone of that is necessary. All Bungie has to do is allow primaries to kill fast enough to put real risk in being caught outside of shotgun range for you. As long as its a genuinely high-risk/high-reward play style? Have at it. But Bungie has nerfed the game's primaries to the point where shotgunning is really a low-risk/high-reward play style right now.

6 RepliesA big reason to these "warriors" is the fact it takes 5 seconds to pull it out after the past nerf. It takes too long to switch from your primary to your shotty. This is a reason why people don't tend to use their primary as much.
