This is EXACTLY how trials should be played. It really shows what team can control the map better and work as a unit. We made it to seven wins for the first time in year 3 tonight and plan on making it to the lighthouse before it's all said and done. THIS is true 3v3 competitive multiplayer.
And not having to worry about guarding orbs is a fckn blessing.
When you're dead, you're dead.
It's so fun when it comes down to 1vs1 and you don't have to worry about revives and that bullsht over shield.
BUNGIE PLEASE NEVER CHANGE TRIALS BACK!
Edit: 1:10 pm Sunday afternoon we claimed ultimate victory.

9 RepliesBefore any of the elites come at me reminding me of my .38 trials kd, my .72 overall crucible kd, and telling me to "get gud skrub" I'd just like to put it out there that I don't play trials competitively at all. Year 1 player, been to the lighthouse just twice, and now I only play trials with my friends to get the bounties done and hope for an armor piece higher light than what I have. Furthermore, I much prefer PvE to PvP in almost every regard. And I also prefer Iron Banner to trials (unless it's rift). Good. Now that I've got that out of the way, let's review. You guys right here on the forums have been moaning and groaning for a year and a half that trials is always the same with a different map, begging Bungie to change it up so only the best can go to the lighthouse. This weekend, they removed the radar, making it more challenging for you to find your opponents, and removed revives making it more challenging for you to just rely and being res'd by your teammates if you go down. The way I see it, there are two people who get really hurt by the switch up this weekend. The weekend trials streamers who rely on trials carries to maintain their viewership, and the kids who come into their streams looking to get carried. For a year and a half, I have seen these carries take place where 1 guy does all the shooting, and the person being carried is just told to stay back, revive him if he goes down, and call out where they are when he dies. In many instances, the person being carried is more useful to the "team" dead instead of alive. But yet, here we are, reading comments on this thread about how this is the easy version of trials. Yet who are the biggest complainers this weekend? It's not me, the mainly PvE player. It's not the people who think this change up is fun and exciting even if it is probably just a one time thing. It's the streamers who give carries, and the elites who only want them to be able to succeed in trials. Why not just enjoy it, and "adapt like all good players do". Judging by the salt in this thread, it sounds more like you guys ran away pouting instead of adapting. Slightly unrelated, but still sort of related. Think on it a little bit. There's a really good tip I learned from someone a while ago, and it reads: "It's just a game. I've got nothing to prove."

Yep love the trials this week, makes it a lot more fun, especially if your the last guardian standing you don't feel as panicked, you can make a comeback 👍🏻👍🏻bungie

43 RepliesThe truth is this weekends trials just require a different skill set than the normal trials. Not less skill/ more skill. Just a different set of skills. Make no mistake, the "top tier" trials players will make it to the lighthouse this week just like any other week, and they won't be blaming modifiers. I may fail with this analogy but I'll try to explain it: Take one person who can trace any picture and make it look identical to what they are tracing because they are "gud" and following the lines and have all the right colors etc. Now take a person who is just artistically gifted, and can draw without the need to trace. They just naturally can copy/draw just by seeing the picture. Now if there was a competition between these two and they had to draw the same picture but one person traces the picture and one just purely draws it by looking at it. I'm sure 90% of the time the person who traced the picture would get the "win". Now take that same competition and only allow each artists to look at the picture and reproduce it. In this scenario the artist with the better natural ability to draw would be much more likely to win this competition because of their natural skill set. This doesn't mean it takes less skill this week because of the no radar, it's just the toolbox with which we rely on is different. NOT WORSE. If a player gets the drop on you this weekend from an angle you weren't expecting, it IS NOT BECAUSE OF LUCK. They clearly have a better skill of moving around the map. The counter to that is situational awareness. Which IS A SKILL.

5 RepliesBump Trails has never been better, less sniping, and shot gunning isn't over used either. Personally I've encountered probably the same amount of everything, primaries and secondaries (a few less snipers than the everything else) But I honestly think it's just the map for less sniping anyway. On top of that the games go by way faster and they actually require critical thinking to succeed, mostly anyway. Now the one thing left to do is to get rid of the heavy round and tweak the matchmaking because even the matchmaking is RNG.

3 RepliesIt's crazy how people suck so bad at this game without a crutch radar to help them

What im finding is that the lower card games are a lot closer than they should be when looking at the other teams stats. The issue with the removal of radar is that the game wasn't built to have no radar. There are not near enough audio indicators to truly tell where the other team is and it makes it far more who gets the lucky flank. I appreciate where they are trying to take it and I agree that the lack of revives is very nice, but the no radar can't work without some serious changes

Edited by Blame: 10/30/2016 10:26:38 AMThere is nothing competative or skillfull about this. I use my minimap as well as many other things to their max, and having something as crucial as the map gone is just annoying. U can't even sound whore In destiny so unless u do a 360 check every 0.5 seconds, this shit is just RNG. Love how 80% of my deaths r from getting shot by someone I didn't even know was there. Went from a 2.5 every weekend to a 1.5 :/ Reason why scrubs r so bad is because they don't use things like the minimap to the full potential. Thays why they don't understand why it's such a big deal that's it's gone. Love how they say I'm shit and I need the crutch tho

3 RepliesNo radar was incredibly stupid. As a result of no radar, games are being won by pure luck rather than sound tactic and gun skill. Not a fan. The revive changes I don't care too much about, but no radar is bs IMO. #TitanMasterRace

Couldn't you just add that play style of trials? Haha you're kind of saying "screw everyone who liked the regular trials, I'm actually winning this one" Different team and player styles fit different game types, a lot of people practiced a lot to get good at the regular trials. They could slot in the new style once a month, or just have it as a second trials option on the weekend. Let the player base decide which they feel they could go flawless in.

9 RepliesI would make at least 1 change, when dead, you shouldn't be able to see, you're done, no callouts

5 RepliesI played about 10 games. Guess how many times I got sniped?
0
Guess how many times I got shotgunned?
Easily over 50
The point is, no radar is just another thing to cater towards shotguns, as if this game didn't already 100% in every way already do that...
-
I like the idea of no revive but hate the no radar modification. It ends up with a lot of shotgunners siting in corners.

I enjoyed this week of trials. I think they could remove the Revive system for trials and keep radar. Maybe have this be a inferno trials? And keep the normal trials as well. It could offer better rewards for the inferno as it would be more challenging

15 RepliesOnly bad players would like this way better
-
Hell no, never have trials like this again All luck based on who sees the other first. Completely stupid and I went 9-0 already
