Watch this video. These two vets think they own the public park and are assaulting and threatening these younger people and some are minors as well. At once point in the video the old man gets in the face of a pregnant lady and basically pushes her.
Now you might be reading and think, "well those youngsters probably did something wrong". Well you would be wrong on that. All they did was play pokemon in the PUBLIC park and the two old men who say they are Vietnam vets are assaulting these people as well as shoving a pregnant lady.
My question is how much can we let these war vets get away with just because they are war vets? Does it mean they can do whatever they want and assault and insult anyone they please? They fought for freedom and they are trying to take away others freedom.
Now I know MOST vets are not like this but I am talking about the few that give the rest a bad name. Should we allow these people to keep doing this?
Also it is a memorial Park, not a graveyard. You can see in the video there are soccer posts in the park for people to play soccer. It is a public park where people and their friends and families can go to have fun.
EDIT: Just to be clear war vets DESERVE respect but once you start acting like these guys then they lose it all. These two old men have no respect for others and wanted to cause problems so I have no respect for those two. I know other war vets and they are good people and I know others who use the "vet" card to get away with shit. They fought for our freedom and they are trying to take away the freedom of those people.

They don't deserve any special treatment except for the high amounts of respect they've earned. I don't care who you are, using your "power" to other people's dismay is a dick move.

Edited by domenico: 8/3/2016 2:14:37 PMThe Pokemon Go players were clearly out of line, it can easily be seen that they were baiting the old man to react further. Anyone with some decency would have just dropped it and moved on to the next pokestop, not worth arguing with a veteran over their right to play Pokemon in a place of solitude.

7 RepliesEdited by Yandere-chan: 8/3/2016 12:53:42 AMIdiots without context! I heard about this incident. Time to drop some knowledge whales. These people were playing Pokémon Go! in a memorial GRAVE. Nearby vets got fed up with the sheer amount of disrespect the Goers had for the graves, including setting up tents, leaving behind trash, and using the gravestones as leaning posts. Eventually, one of the vets had a PTSD attack and began lashing out. So yeah. The Goers need to Pokémon GO HOME and get out. That's a place to remember the soldiers who died fighting our battles, not to catch a god damn Pidgey.

Depends on the vet, people should judged individually.

1 ReplyThe people were also out of line. They were in a memorial park, not the kind you should be running around in and pitching tents. They were getting close to the stones, and you can even see some of them in some of the pictures. While I think that he could have controlled his anger better, I would have done similar, taking tents down and moving them out the gate.

Winona City Council are now planning to ban Pokémon Go players from this Memorial Park. The "vet" in the video was charged with disorderly conduct and property destruction.

3 RepliesAs a veteran, I can say these vets acted way out of line. A public park is made for people to go do whatever they please in accordance with the law. These guys don't represent all vets.
-
1 ReplyI don't care if I get downvoted to hell for saying this. Veteran or not, if I see anyone acting like that, he/she will automatically lose all respect I could give him/her. Were the kids acting a little douchey? Yes, but the vets were way out of line. Nothing the kids did warranted assault and vandalism.

1 ReplyAmerica absolutely loves its war veterans, more so than any other country, and it looks like these guys are exploiting that. Really sad to see.

Depends on when, and what they were fighting for. Say our freedom is actually in danger, they deserve all the respect they can get. (Unless they're an asshole. Then screw them.) If it's like it is now, where we're cleaning up a mess we made. Sure they'll get respect, but no where near as much as one who actually fought for freedom. If for whatever reason we just start invading countries, not a single bit of respect at all.

1 ReplyI so had an Ali G moment reading the title

5 RepliesUntil you know what it's like to go through what they went through... Respect them.
-
10 RepliesI'm a vet, if you act like that, no matter who you are, you don't deserve any respect.
-
Nam flashbacks man, when that shit hits you, you forget yourself
-
They may have did some good things in the past, but that doesn't change what they're doing in the present. Your past means nothing to me if your just going to act like an ass.

1 ReplyIt's situational. Serving your country deserves recognition, but it doesn't make you immune to criticism. That guy went out if his way to destroy what respect he deserved. My father is a 22year Army vet, he'd never act like that, then use his choice as a shield from criticism.

1 ReplyMaybe there are 2 types of military veterans: Those that act deservingly of the respect And Those that act like they're entitled to the respect
-
2 RepliesI've never understood why I'm supposed to worship Vets and the military.

Edited by tjustie: 8/2/2016 1:01:27 AMVets get just as much base respect as any other person. No more, no less, although they might get slightly different kind of respect due to their service. Respect is gained based on achievements and lost based on actions like those of the vets in the video. Serving in and of itself is not an achievement, and the moment a vet acts like he deserves extra respect, I lose respect for him, especially now, when service is voluntary.

8 RepliesWhy don't you go to combat for a full year and come back seeing if you deserve the same respect these kids gave these older men. I mean it's not like they fought for your freedom, had friends die, lose special once in a life time events, or lost limbs. Too it off it was at a memorial center for war veterans which is beyond disrespectful for the reasons that these sacrifices made for people like you to post oh they don't deserve this. Disrespectful shits like you don't need freedom of speech but rather instead a good daily beating.

3 RepliesThe thumbnail makes him look like a unicorn lmao.

22 RepliesYou shouldn't play mobile games around memorials. They should of shown more respect.

Just because they are vets doesn't mean they are above the law, but yes, vets do deserve more respect than the average citizen.

It sucks that they didn't die in nam.
