Rare material prob :{

Hey, uh, so I'm at the part when I have to get rare materials in the exotic sword quest and I have to get them from relic iron, but haven't gotten any. Do I have to have the sword in my inventory or equipped? Also I accidentally discarded my sword, so does that effect my chances of getting these materials? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!

Omen

The quest takes long and usually rewards one rare material every ten or so materials picked up. The sword does not have to be equipped and as long as you have the quest then you can pick them up. Hope I helped.
