Who played the original Halo games(CE, 2, 3)?

I have, and I agree

I haven't so I can't agree or disagree

What's Halo?

I feel like the PvE in the Halo games was better than Destiny. I think I can credit this to a lack of jump abilities and sprinting, enemies that die just as easily as you, and not being able to know how many hit points the enemy has left. Don't get me wrong, Destiny is a fun game, but the PvE is less enjoyable than the PvP.

Loved the Halo games, actually sold my PS2 and bought an Xbox just so I could play Halo CE. My .02 PvE - Destiny wins hands down PvP - Halo by a long shot

      • I have played Halo 1-Reach and I have to agree and disagree with the pve being better with Halo, Year 1 in Destiny PvE the model, strikes, 1 big raid, and 2 small strike minded raids, Better than Halo. Year 2 PvE took a huge nose dive with the content drought. Kings Fall while interesting, being with it for so many months without anything new really hurt Destiny.

      • I think Halo has two unfair advantages. 1 - It was more ahead of its time and more influential. For a lot of people (especially a lot of people on a Bungie forum), it took gaming from a kids' activity to something adults do. If Halo CE came out now, even with great graphics, it would be just another game. 2 - Halo had a linear story. It did not account for strikes, raids, daily stories and so forth. You were the only Master Chief with the only Cortana, not one of many guardians with one of many ghosts. Destiny's story cannot be linear because at any given time, you share a game world with people who haven't (say) completed the story, or completed a raid. With a linear story, you can be more detailed and more clear about what is happening, when, why.

        • I politely disagree. I feel that they are both entirely different games in how they present their pve. Destiny's pve to me seems like a series of private, or public if you brought friends, strikes or instances like in other MMOs. It's kind of story driven but it's only supposed to take you like 10-15 minutes so you can get out and move on to something else. PvE in Halo is an actual story mode. There's a lot of character progression and what not. Hmmm....character progression....is there that in Destiny?

        • I kinda disagree, like I grew up on halo 2 and CE on my dads pc back in the day but destinys feels a little more interesting to play. Not saying halos wasn't super fun, I played those games for years, I still play halo 2 on the old Xbox when I'm bored and go grab the scarab gun usually. But I feel destinys gunplay is just so unholy able it makes the pve activities a lot more enjoyable. I do feel that the actual halos were extremely close though

          • In Halo you had to get the sniper, rocket launcher or shotgun, then keep them. The team worked together to try to control the power weapons.... And there were a lot more face to face gun battles, rather than somebody coming around the corner throwing flaming hammers, bolts of electricity or dancing around with a knife killing everything in sight.

I began with Halo 2 back in 2005. My uncle brought it home along with an Xbox and thus my love for Halo began. I played all of them except 5 because 4 was shit and 343 sucks balls. Tbh I came back to destiny after a year of hiatus a week ago and I think that the way PvP in Destiny has turned out to compared to before and and compared to Halo is that honestly Bungie's Halo PvP was balanced It had equality so the only way to win was to be a -blam!-ing beast at whatever they gave you and fight for the lower weapons in the map. Destiny however feels rather too...fast paced which I don't mind but also it's not as skilled based because anyone can have a shotgun and so on. And don't get me started on supers. Also there always seems to be a Meta weapon that surpasses the rest which is kinda.bad considering that Destiny MP is so uneven. In conclusion. To win in destiny you need good guns and good class. And tactics and be quick. To win in halo. You need skill because you probably have the same gun everyone else has. As for PvE Tbh it's shit. Halo PvE has a replay value that hasn't been seen in many games and any halo past reach. What destiny PvE lacks for me is the story that gives you a sense of wonder like halo did. Destiny feels like hollow bones in comparison to Halo and even though ttk was an improvement it's far from halo campaign level perfection. I think they should implement more unique levels that don't feel like just another mission. Halo PvE was bloody amazing. That game lived up ti the hype up until 3 and ODST was a nice dlc addition. Reach it took some time getting used to but it was alright. 4 felt like a chore. So all in all they need to make levels enjoyable and not so Grindy and time wasting and not make it feel like a chore.

              • The story telling was better but with the exception of Reach(commendations) and firefight, Halo PVE was pretty much one and done. Strikes, Raids and PoE are all fantastic elements that are tarnished by the continuous grind and Bungie hiccups. PvP wise I'll give it to Halo in almost every way. It didn't get better than driving my buddies around in a warthog in Halo 3. Reach was the absolute tops for me for FPS console multiplayer. I honestly don't know what to make of Crucible. I don't think it's awful but at the same time it's never been "right".

I played 3, ODST, and Reach when first released. I played 1 and 2 later when they were remastered. But the PvE in both ganes are pretty different so idk if you can directly compare all aspects of them.

                • I wish there was a way to do ultra hard story mode. Nothing pve is hard at all. Skolas was probably the peak of difficulty

                • The biggest thing is halo had what I consider a great story. That adds to the pve enjoyment. Destiny's story is terrible.

Many people may attack me for this but I like destiny pvp better than halo Not because I'm a noob and I need aim assist and low ttk and all the other things that people will tell me. It's because there's so many ways to play. So many different guns, classes, abilities, movement... In halo you have one way to jump, two grenades, one gun for each type and maybe some other little cool ones like plasma pistol and needler, one way to melee. No variety and I guess that's good if you're looking for a near perfect level playing field for competitive play. In destiny you can choose from 4 primaries and then at least 3 archetypes for each. So many gun types. Now classes is what separates destiny from halo the most. The classes is what makes destiny. You can be a Titan skating around at high speeds, a shade stepping shotgunner. So many ways to play each subclass has its own play style.

                • Mainly cause halo was older, and less complex
