EDIT : For all the raving lunatics that are not intelligent in the comment section, CHARACTER LEVEL *was* LIGHT LEVEL and LIGHT LEVEL *was* CHARACTER LEVEL in Year 1. They were unanimous.
You DID NOT have 20 Level and 34 Light Level
That would be 54 levels. There were ONLY 34.
"LIGHT" was the direct living extension of your level, both tied as a knot.
In year 2, they are completely separate and artificially inflate each other to bad combinations.
Such as your level is 40 and your light is 335. They ARE separate.
Year 1 was in no way similar other than the main game title was "Destiny"
*mic drop*
P.S.
All you posers can re-upvote my post so it can trend again.

every expansion we have become stronger
30 in vanilla
32 in the dark below
34 in house of wolves
40 in the taken king
this "ARTIFICIAL" increase of grind and light level CAN NOT be your only evidence for the future
you need to increase the CHARACTER LEVEL to 42 *AS WELL AS* increase the light level
i don't want to hear "well now that we have this new system in place, if we ever increase the character level, it will exponentially decrease the value and grind of previous activities"
DEAL WITH IT!!
your grave, sleep in it
NO ONE has ever complained about PVE being "too op"
get off your -blam!-in rockers and let us have fun

#Destiny

1 ReplyEdited by SolarCerberuS: 6/20/2016 3:07:01 AMI just have one question, What would be the reason/point for increasing character level? Other than the lockout of certain activities and gear I feel character level serves no real purpose anymore, we dont unlock new perks, nor do we gain an increase to our stats.
-
They said they were raising it
-
Unanimous is not the correct word to use there Synonymous is the correct word
-
Edited by NoNameLikeIt: 6/20/2016 3:56:21 PMYour edit is still incorrect. If you were at 20 you no longer could level up without gear. If you took said gear off, your level would drop. Hence why it was still a LIGHT LEVEL. You couldnt physically level up past 20 without gear until taken king. That was the first time we ever got a light increase. Saying that is 54 levels, no it even said that your gear was an extension of your light.
-
Actually i know that character level was 20.
-
Lvl 60 no more light levels until they bring back flaming head every nightfall

Edit the post to be right

Well.. before TTK you only got exp and leveled until lvl 20 and your gear score raised your level to 30, 32 and 34 respectively.
-
Technically the only expansion to ever raise the level was ttk all others raised the light level
-
Eh make the final rank up level a nice even 50!
-

10 RepliesEdited by daedelus1984: 6/19/2016 1:40:59 AMLevels according to dlc's: Vanilla: level 20 light 30 Dark below: level 20 light 32 House of Wolves: level 20 light 34 Taken king: level 40 light 320 April update: level 40 light 335 Would you look at that, vanilla and first 2 dlc's had the same level....... Rise of Iron I predict: level 40 light 365-400
-
Level is actually just for activity and equipment requirements. It has nothing to do with power at all
-
What would be the point?
-
2 RepliesWRONG. IT WENT: VANILLA: 20 DARK BELOW: 20 HOUSE OF THORN: 20 THE TAKEN KING: 40
-
1 ReplyYou're an idiot. The character lvl was capped at 20 until the TTK. The light level/armor level increased every dlc.

Edited by MilkyRage: 6/19/2016 6:42:53 PMI chose the noodle one cause it reminded me of the honest trailer for dark souls talking about breaking a cinder block with your flaccid junk and it was a clear option...

1 Reply50 is where we are going. Vanilla 30 (although mostly forever 29 😢) TTK 40 Rise of iron 50 Hopefully anyway.
-
Well, tbh, level doesn't really do anything now, light is what gives us our damage and armor...a lvl 30 with 335 light level would be the same as a lvl 40 with 335 light level, so why bother increasing the level cap when it means nothing.

As if these so called levels actually matter 😒
