Ace of Spades worth it?
Recently I have thought about getting my gunsmith to rank 3 for ace of spades. I have limited time on destiny with my study and stuff and I'm wondering is it worth it? Is ace of spades good?

It's the only hand cannon that I use in PvE. It one shots cabal. If you can crit, you don't have to worry about reloading.

Comparared to other hand cannons its good, compared to other exotics its meh.

It's a basic workhorse weapon for when you're starting out and don't have any good legendaries, but aside from that, you're better off using a scout rifle with Firefly and getting much better results since Bungie's nerfs were not kind to the performance of hand cannons in PvE after hurting their range. The Maverick perk also does not justify blowing your precious exotic slot on a gun that is generally inferior to a legendary with a decent perk roll. When you have exotics like the Bad Juju and Jade Rabbit that simply pull extra ammo out of thin air, I question why Bungie decided to be so underwhelming when designing Maverick. If the AoS was a legendary, it'd be fantastic, but as an exotic, it has to be compared with the capabilities of other exotics, in which it comes up disappointingly short. The Ace of Spades is fine if you honestly have no better options, but it's rapidly out-valued by strong legendary weapons since it frees up your exotic slot for much, much stronger PvE options like Black Spindle and Raze-Lighter.

Best pve hand cannon in my opinion, and if your really good with it that third eye and firefly can be really nice in pvp

Tlaloc is still better but ace of spades is great, atelier that's what I've heard, I'm working on first curse before I get my stillpiercer and ace

It's well worth your time. A fairly easy quest and outstanding reward.

2 RepliesI'm thorn on this subject. Pun intended. Anyways I have a love hate relationship so far with this weapon. I was using Hawkmoon with Imago Loop as my back up. I enjoy Hawkmoon. Got Ace of Spades and one thing I'm not enjoying is the sights on this compared to Hawk. Maybe I'm just not used to this gun yet. It is a solid handcannon. As long you get precision kills you can keep on firing. I shall keep using it and try my best to truly fall in love with it.

It sounds like you already have the appropriate attitude, or I could be reading too much into it sense tone is hard to convey through text communication. It seems like you aren't going to stress over it. If you complete the bounty, great, if not, oh well. You will get it though, you just have your priorities. I used the hawkmoon when I finally decided to work on the bounty and I went into the rift playlist. This was post 2.0 but pre 2.1 so the most reliable handcannon at the time seemed to be the hawkmoon. I couldn't hit the floor with the last word if I tried right after 2.0.

Yes. Its worth it. Got 1 the other day. Its amazing in pve and decent in pvp but can be amazing if you get used to it

Had it in my vault for months and finally used it this week. Loving it. Hand cannons and sidearms are my least used weapons, been using them to freshen things up a bit lately. And AoS has been a lot of fun. Love me some firefly!

It's a pretty solid gun. I'd say it's worth it. Just pay attention to your ammo if you're nailing those precision shots, since you aren't reloading it's pretty easy to lose track.

Deleted for exotic shard, but rank 5 gets you the first curse which is way worth it!
