So, this morning, I booted up my Xbox to play some Halo 5. For some reason, my controller disconnected from my console.
No problem, right? Just sync up a controller and good to go. I crouch down and press the button on the console to sync up the controller to it, and nothing happens.
Several tries later I realize that the button (on the Xbox) to sync up a controller is broken. None of my other controllers are synced up either.
A quick Google search reveals that I can connect my controller to my console via my connect. This simply does not work. After about an hour of trying this and it failing, I head into Kinect settings, which proves to be the opposite of helpful.
Desperately, I call out "Xbox, connect a controller", hoping that some voice command will help me out. The Xbox understands "Xbox, Kinect off", and my voice commands shut off, effectively neutering my Xbox.
I can't use a controller or voice commands to do anything with it now. Some more frantic googling reveals that all hope is not lost, I just have to find the wire that I first used to manually connect my controller to my console.
A few minutes of searching proves fruitless. I have to order a new controller wire to connect my controller to my console. Good thing I have a second Xbox! But I need to re-download half my games...
TLDR: Controllers won't connect to my Xbox and my Kinect is off. Xbox One = rendered useless.
Saddest thing that's ever happened in my gaming career tbh.
Edit: I now realize a micro usb cord will serve my needs. Thanks for reminding me.
