Thank you.
Edit: A few people have actually been having a discussion. I appreciate that. The rest of you are just pathetic scrubs who can't live without their crutch and can't string together anything resembling a good reason why year one guns shouldn't be separated somehow in the crucible playlists.
Edit 2: A lot of people are wrongly assuming that I think Thorn should go away because I'm getting killed by it. That's not true. Of course I die to it sometimes, but that's true of all guns. I don't care about getting killed. I care that Thorn is an almost infinite source of burn which completely changes the flavor of the match for everybody. No weapon, especially a primary, should have that big an impact on the game's landscape. Thorn isn't as good as MIDA or Last Word, but you'll notice I don't care about those guns. That's because those guns are just (very good) guns. They can't completely zone players out of a section of the map with endless DoT without cooldown. Thorn just changes the game so heavy-handedly that it reduces the quality of the overall PvP experience. Of course Thorn can be countered. Killing Thorn users is usually pretty easy, but you still get zoned by a single shot from a bad player, and now you're removed from the fight for a stupid amount of time because somebody bodyshot you once with a hand canon. That's just stupid.
Edit 3: Very few people seem to read. Yes, Thorn is easy to beat. No, I don't want it nerfed. Yes, I think it's fine that people use Thorn. Hell, I use Thorn every once in a while. My issue is that the gun is poorly designed, and that it's secondary uses (meaning the things the gun does outside of active engagements) force entire matches into specific limited subsets of strategies and tactics. That creates a limited PvP experience whenever the gun is present. No gun with DoT should be part of the game's PvP, especially because the DoT is virtually infinite and, therefore, can zone players at will without reprieve. Starting now, I will ignore anyone whose post demonstrates that they haven't read this.

Sure I'll get right on that LOL ~BNGhelpdesk

1 ReplyBurn can occur from other things too. Imagine facing against 3 Solar Subclasses who can get their grenades fast.

I like thorn tho

I haven't played for a month or so but this feels like a flashback to y1, is thorn a thing again now? I used to love this weapon, not for the DoT, it was RoF I loved, didn't need to rely on DoR with a fire rate that good. It was useful against Cabal in PoE as well.

Exotics have and always will throw off balance if you want complete balance play cod halo or battlefield.

Instead of worrying about this irrelevant handcannon we should discuss Hawkmoon Buffs

Says the person with the 1 KD in trials
-
There actually is a way to separate them and that is their light level. What they should do is actually have the light level of your gun make a difference in trials/ib

6 RepliesI love the thorn what they should is make a year two version but only allow it to be used in pve. Or remove pvp all together it's what's ruining this game. Little kiddies crying nerf like babies.
-
Thorn really isn't a relevant gun anymore. Compared to its year one self, it's lack luster and i don't think it's necessary to take out of the crucible because of that. If people want to use it, let them. The gun isn't good anymore anyway.
-
2 RepliesIt's really just the absolute douche kids and the terrible players that still do badly even when they use Thorn that actually use it much. I don't think we need to cater to those two types of players that turn Crucible into TRASH mode. There should be some sort of change to this gun.

8 RepliesEdited by Link: 3/3/2016 7:29:11 PMLook, I understand your point of view about thorn in pvp but you must understand that it is an exotic. Exotic weapons are amazing with their unique perk and not only that, it deserves those perks mainly because of how difficult it was to obtain it. Not only that, thorn is not that harmful these days. As long as you eliminate the person before those three shots, there's going to be no harm I see many people use snipers, shotguns, scout rifles and even other type of hand cannons that can easily defeat thorn users. The thorn is not the great weapons it once was... #makethornY2

1 ReplyDespite what people are saying, at least you took the time to eloquently explain why you felt that way instead of whining like a child. Props

5 RepliesThe lore of thorn itself was amazing for pve....No one complained about pve only how it performed in pvp ... Bungie needs to start balancing guns differently in pvp than pve...they cannot have the same stats in both places and be balanced...there's no way... I agree thorn is quite litteraly a thorn in your rear end in pvp...but it shouldn't be removed from the game entirely it just needs to be balanced correctly

9 RepliesYou are seriously 6 months+ late with this post. Thorn has lost its hayday. Yes it a still an effective weapon but these days how aften do you see it compared to y2 guns

Edited by Fort: 3/6/2016 4:09:43 AMThorn is an awesome gun, and one of my favorites. The look, sound and lore of thorn are -blam!-ing awesome. I'll admit that it's a bit ridiculous in PvP though. So how about instead of removing one of the most exotic feeling exotics in the game, they change it so it's not so OP? I think Bungie needs to change thorn's exotic perk so if only procs on precision hits, greatly increase thorn's accuracy, make the burn do 5 damage but for less time so it evens out and quadruple the amount of damage the burn does IN PVE ONLY. I feel that this would balance thorn.
and I'm sorry about the children commenting here who only know how to sling insults and never bring up an actual counter argument. I don't agree wth you, but they're just as bad
-
They didn't bring some guns from Y1 to Y2. So why are we still aloud to use them? It's dumb. I hope they change the crucible so that Y1 weapons are not aloud.
-
The issue with the idea of removing this weapon is only such an issue if it were overpowered, but seeing as how this weapon has been nerfed to the moon and back, I don't see the issue, mida is op cuz you always have a tracker... along with its massive dps, it becomes over powered. The last word is destructively over powered due to the fact that it has almost no range, but will kill 3 shots from any range, the 1000yd stare is op due to the fact that it is able to kill 1 shot through any shield, and takes 1 clip to wreck a ward of dawn, but you insist to cause ruckus on a weapon that has already been dropped to red death status.... damn Daniel, back at it again with them petty ass complaints

1 ReplyIt's complaints like this that have lead to no fun guns in crucible. There use to be very unique weapons like thorn, vex, tlw (when it was a bit stronger), pocket infinite, Queens breaker, red death etc. People can't adapt to being killed by something so it gets nerfed. Instead of nerfing things to the ground, fight to have other guns buffed. That way this game isn't so watered down. Tldr... Buff things, don't nerf anymore
