Luke's 'glorious' reasoning to removing elemental primary weapons, is based on weapon over-use. Someone tell me about the "plentiful" weapon selection currently employed by PvP and PvE players, as I've seen around 8 different primary weapons in the past 5 weeks (excluding me dicking around with stuff). Bring these gems back, for the sake of all that was fun.
Great -blam!-ing job Bung-hole.
Edit: Cozmo, if you see this post, please read the community responses for once. They have good ideas.

Re add elemental primaries, filled in the x for you

Edited by TreeMan_X: 1/19/2016 6:24:38 PMTo increase the Artificial difficulty of PvE, that's all destiny PvE is anyways

3 RepliesClearly the only correct answer here would be to create a mechanic where you could add your own choice of element to any legendary weapon, and make the effort to geting that item(s) meaningful. Such as breaking down a elemental primary. Solves all the problems at once. Variety of weapons used- check, need to have multiple weapons - check, meaningful choices - check, use for running old raids to farm elemental - check. How is it when the answer is so easy that we even still have to discuss it? If you really wanted to promote variety, make elemental change only available on drops or packages, not purchased so rnjesus still gets his prayers

They did it to increase variety in primary weapons in vanguard stuff

13 RepliesGuys, we left ghallajhorn, ice breaker and elemental primaries because we don't want groups to solely rely on one or two weapons. RAID LFG be like: Black spindle onry Touch or malice onry Raid emblem onry Crucible be like: MIDA onry 1000 try stare onry K?

17 RepliesLuke Smith is a walking disaster. I honestly cannot fathom how he has that job. I'm not saying fire him, I'm just saying he shouldn't be Lead Designer. In fact I'd say anyone who was/is apart of the Iron Bar, or whatever the management clique is called, needs to step down form their positions.

Who the hell thinks he knows what he's doing? Lol

I need am all three option.

28 RepliesBecause Luke Smith is a corporate shill. Having elements on the Primary's actually increased weapon diversity in the game. the fact that Luke says it does not is just a blatant lie. Without elements on the primary's, what's the point of switching weapons? There is none. One weapon loadout will suffice for any and all situations. removing the elements on primary's actually added to the stagnation of the game. The fact that he (and Cozmo and DeeJ) keeps trying to sell you all on this lie should show you what he really thinks about your level of intelligence. But he can fix it anytime he wants. Just throw some money at your TV, he'll have a work-around in no time...

6 RepliesEdited by STARKILLER2258: 1/18/2016 8:31:37 PMPart of the big fun of year 1 was having "the right tool for the right job" selection of weapons. The groups I played with were always changing load outs depending on where we were going. We would check what burn was going on in the nightfall (when they worth doing), and equip ourselves. The POE was great for that, Fang of Ir-yut for the fallen, Vision of confluence for the hive and cabal, word of crota for the vex or anything with void burn, multi tool for other stuff, etc. Same deal for the VOG, or crota, etc. I even had a fleet of shotguns with different burns (when they actually worked worth a shit) for different scenarios. Hell, I even used handguns in year 1 and barely touch them in year 2. This whole "boo hoo we were forced to use a few weapons" is frigging bullshit, unless you were frigging lazy. I use way, way less weapons now than I did in year 1. I pretty much use the MIDA for everything, especially in the raid because it can shut down the taken where they stand and wrecks them in place, and that replaced the hung jury I always used. I don't even bother with shotguns because they blow ass now, and barley touch rocket launchers. I bounce from the MIDA to the raid pulse rifle with firefly, the raid hard mode heavy machine gun, 2 snipers and the ToM. Weapons diversity my frigging ass. ...and if they are frigging stupid enough to nerf that MIDA, then that's the end of my destiny run.

1 ReplyBecause they've introduced a new modifier, Match Game. And if they had elemental primaries, it would make it really easy for players to burn through enemy shields. And Bungie does not want anyone to have any fun, ever.
-
1 ReplyI think someone suggested a consumable to make it a timed period of elemental damage which is good. Maybe if bungie really wants diversity make it so each weapon type has its own elemental damage. Scouts do void, assault rifles solar damage just for example. So pop your consumable with your assault rifle then in next room need void, no probs switch to scout rifle. Would encourage players to keep grinding good weapons for all types to have the edge in pve and maybe xur could sell the consumables?

1 ReplyEdited by D1eThx: 1/18/2016 11:38:06 PMAnd they wanted us to be diverse. And they left ONE.
-
3 RepliesBecause all anyone used was the raid legendaries. Even exotics primaries were useless in pve. It was annoying. Now there's more variety. I think and most friends agree that it's one of the smartest things they actually did with year 2
-
It seems odd that they'd remove an entire weapon archetype to prevent overuse, then completely invalidate all Year 1 weapons.
-
Because in this expansion there is no use for them
-
2 RepliesEdited by rodstee56: 1/18/2016 9:11:25 PMSolution: EVERY WEAPON SHOULD HAVE AN ELEMENTAL BURN
-
16 RepliesThey removed elemental primaries because it was bad for weapon diversity but I do like the idea of elemental weapon cores this allows you to take your favorite weapon and give it an elemental damage type
-
Agreed. At least I used to switch between different elemental weapons in pve. Now all I use in raids is either smite of Merain or malice. The drive to create a bigger armoury has had the opposite effect
-
I think they wanted to avoid the 1 gun PvE meta, but in doing so they kinda maid the raid weapons pretty rubbish, and it also means you don't have to actually swap weapons depending on elemental burn.
-
7 RepliesNo burn = more grind
-
1 ReplyIt doesn't make sense to me to not do at least a few elemental primaries. Then again I just spent the weekend playing Halo 5 and used the assault rifle multiple times. This is a weapon which I have been playing with for the past 15 years, and of course Bungie said no one would want to use the same weapon for that long apparently.
-
6 RepliesWell 8 different weapons in use is still better than the two or three used with elemental primaries.

7 RepliesEdited by TheShadow: 1/18/2016 7:43:51 AMWell, what better way to add to the list of things to make you guys grind longer. Since there is no new expansion. In ttk the... Elements were removed. More time gats were added. 20 different light levels to each weapon and gear pice. The flakes were added. Unless they changed it. Two months ago you literally had to spend days of wasted time collecting them, and majority of the time you didn't get a rewarded. I wonder what fool did this over 50 times by now lol. RNG seems to be worse with added useless crap that drops 95% of the time, and below your light level. Like how awsome the nightfall drops have become lol. Hell even Vegas has better odds then this game. Weapon have been nerfed to the ground but Mida. The only weapon Bungie has -blam!-ed up yet. But they will. Everything takes more damage and you do less damage then year one. Making all the events take longer by making things take more damage is not what you can call a challenge. Its just making you grind longer. Exotics worked in every event in year one. Not in year two. A rear weapon does more damage then an exotic? but you can't infuse rear's. Rewards from crucible quest that drop greens. How's that not wasted time and added grind? Over all this game is nothing but a grind fest that leaves guardians with fals hope on getting a loot drop. The best way to make them keep coming back for that hope. Take out what works in this game that was fun, and it only leaves grinding...
