This is a refreshed and revised version of the thread that was maintained by
SeasonedVeterans. The reason this has been done is because too many
people were getting stuck on the old title, and the idea of swords. Also now
we have an organised and revised version of everything found.

S.1 Opening Statement
Any and all information may be relevant, and it is up to you to decide if it can help in anyway. I encourage all trying to help to refrain from multiple posts about different ideas discoveries etc. I obviously realise that things are learned at different times, but it makes it easier for me and others to keep track of everything if it is all together in one place. Try to be neat as well, no need for confusion on misused, forgotten or misspelled words.
In the infancy stages of our findings there will be lots of field work to do. It will eventually slow down.
So in conclusion help is greatly appreciated and we (as in the people working towards this goal) are asking help from you the reader to do some researching, field work, and brain storming. You can pick one or contribute in all of the above, after doing so post your results here and let us and yourself run with the ideas! Arguments for and against this are all welcome as both can be constructive. Refrain from flaming and trolling and simply making fun of other people.
S.2 Goal of the Project
The Bungie community has come to the conclusion that it is very possible that Bungie has created multiple Easter Eggs throughout the whole that is ODST. We have many clues towards these things including information from Bungie regarding secrets, canon to the story, and Easter Eggs. (Looking for more confirmation.[That's UK's OXM readers!])
Following the idea that there is a possibility of unlocking these different bits of information, we are taking it upon ourselves to look for multiple clues and leads to unlocking the secrets that are within the game! Whether it be simple Easter Eggs or more story into the Forerunners, on top of all of this we will have an extensive and detailed documentation of all the recordings logged along the way.
S.3 Mystery of the Glyphs
No doubt most of everyone has noticed the strange Glyphs that are around New Mombasa, and I wouldn't doubt that you yourself have at least simply wondered what they were all about. That is what this section is dedicated to in hopes of finding out.
S.3a What we know so far
We know that the ones responsible for the mysterious glyphs, or at least some of them, are the Engineers. They use these glyphs as a form of communication it seems to tell stories, the Y shapes seem to represent Forerunner ships. Currently we do not know of what the Glyphs depict, but it can be seen that these Glyphs are different looking than our typical Covenant Glyphs. Whether they mean different, similar or the same things is, so far, unknown.
The large Glyphs consisting of three sections separated by a Y shaped line, can have a few different builds:
They can consist of no glyphs.
They can consist of these new glyphs we will dub "Engineer Glyphs."
They can consist of S.I. faces, or S.I. Glyphs.
A Glyph can contain up to all three of these things at any given time. There is never more than one Glyph in any of the three sections of the triad.
S.3b Recording of the different Glyphs and their locations
Here is where we will record all the different known Glyph types, and their appropriate Sectors. You can save the following Sector Map to use as a guide when locating and recording these Glyphs. Print it off and open it up in MS Paint, and add points like G1, G2, G3 etc. with an appropriately labelled photo of the Glyph. If the Glyph is somewhat hidden, a brief tutorial on how to find it will be necessary. I personally believe this will be the most in depth and time consuming field work and will be the most extensive work.
Unique Glyph Builds:
The different Glyph builds will be located in here, it will document all the different variations
(At the moment this is briefly empty)
Sector Map (pertaining to Glyphs)
This Sector Map will be a guide to all the different Glyph locations and should eventually allow us to figure out which Glyphs disappear and where.
(At the moment this is briefly empty)
If requested I can post an exemplary way of labelling, recording, and documenting. You can always do your best since I will assimilate all the findings for consistency.
S.4 Dig Site Lamps
Dig site lamps (picture please?) are simply those lights that extend up when something approaches them, signifying that they are turning on when needed. It is unknown if these lights have any point or meaning, or are purely for aesthetic purposes.
The reason for them possibly being "Dig Site" lamps is because where they have been found in Halo 3 is in underground dug out parts of the map. If they are in fact "Dig site lamps" then what exactly are they digging for? It's known that the Ark Portal isn't directly under the city, but between it and the town of Voi. Could it be possible that more is buried on our planet? Or is it simply a part of the Portal they are uncovering. Either way, it helps develop the canon of Halo for the community, and help us to realise the reason for such an excavation to be overseen personally by the Prophet of Truth.
S.5 An ODST Stonehenge
It's obvious that these areas interest us, they are very different than the rest of the war torn city of New Mombasa. Upon entering you feel a sort of, post-war peacefulness. A Stonehenge like structure sits in the center of a room; the room contains dead Elites and Engineers that putter about. These rooms are usually hot beds for Glyph activities.
It has been reported that upon standing in the center of a Stonehenge, different music has played that had not been heard before. Confirmation in this area would help, and any recording of it would aid in figuring out any significance in the music.
What exactly are they for? It is unknown at this point, but it definitely would seem like something is there. Perhaps the Engineers have set up a sort of shrine of their own, perhaps not, but only explored theories will produce answers. The answers will also most likely produce further questioning.
S.6 Audio Logs
It is uncertain if there is more to be learned from the Audio Logs then just that of a story of a girl. Whether it's learning more of this girl, and/or her family is uncertain, but it's quite possible that there could be more to this.
Credit to VirtualCtor for bringing attention to the Audio Log Transcripts located on the Halo Wiki. Read this at your own pace community and see if anything particular stands out. Remember we have a cop in the game that has a connection to these people!
S.7 Engineer Habits
With ODST came the introduction of Engineers. The Engineer is a timid creature that flys about doing more of the Covenants mundance tasks. They are incredibly advanced and have the ability to fix, so far, everything. It's no doubt that you've seen the "flying bombs" that the Brutes have conscripted. It appears that they may have more of a significance then it would appear, in regard to the whole shroud covering ODST. What their significance is has yet to be realised.
It has been confirmed that the Engineers flee at the arming of Snipers. It is uncertain but assumed that only the Snipers make them flee, it's possible that other power weapons do as well. When visiting Stonehenge it seems that Engineers may react when standing in the center of the Stonehenge, and that a new song has been heard to play.

Guydo and I tried the zombie glitch on the elite with the sword hilts on Tayari plaza nothing new was noticed. However 1 level above where you hear Virgl say "school zone slow down bill past due " I did hear that funny music from squid henge. This is the first time I have heard this music outside New Mombasa streets. We also heard the single note string music there.I am going to try 12 skulls there in zone 6. I was banned for using a Bungie staff members name in a QTA 12 6 theory. I didn't mean any offense. I don't know if my comment was considered spam. I was just trying to get some notice. We are all trying really hard to figure out your mysteries Bungie. We just hope our efforts are not fruitless. Marty was good, but as you know we want more grrrrrrr.
-
xXGuydoXx, in response to one of your earlier posts about doing kikowani station with all the skulls turned on, i did so while i was away for christmas. when i was done i posted on the forum about there being nothing new i found and that i was going to do the whole campaign like this, and got a 3 day ban! it seems to me bungie might be hiding something, what with my ban and your friend getting banned, it seem theres something bungie doesnt want us to know! I have just beaten the par score for mombassa streets and found nothing new, except when i finished tayari plaza, there were huge groups of covenant (4-5 brutes with an engineer, 4 jackels, and at least 6 grunts in each squad) now im putting this down to the fact that, to beat the par score i had to clear each sector at least twice. Now i might be wrong, so to make sure im going to boot up a new campaign tommorow to make sure. Also im not sure if i have beaten par on all of the missions yet so im just going to check and if not i will be doing so tommorow and will report back any new findings! You know, atarigen and I have been elevating to new areas (and old ones). We have definately made progress: Tayari Plaza: At the first meetup with the marines, go left into the buildings door up the stairs, and just before exiting to outside, the SI says "School Zone. Slow down. Bill past due." Although this is not "new" information, the next part may be. While advancing up a door was unlocked, which we previously had not noticed. An LCD screen displays static in the room. Continuing to the uppermost catwalk, one may stand in the corner. If the volume is load enough, one can hear a string orchestra playing with some keys and a low hum. Furthermore, atarigen heard a music event when he picked up a nade next to the dead marine. (Possible Coincidences, I know.) Mombasa Streets: It has come to our observation that one district (I believe 5?) has some interest: the district with a giant arcing piece of the space tether has three elephant garbage trucks. ONE of these is lit up and active. The tether appears to lead to a rooftop from nearby one of these trucks. When advancing all the way left, glyphs and one dead elite may be found near the large door. While walking parallel to this on the upper level next to the garbage truck, a "MAGICAL FLOATING LCD DISPLAY" is near the wall as if a Medstation is there. There is no med station, but Virgil mentions Optican. Mombasa Streets: It seems that all inaccessible sectors are there for loading from memory during cinematics. Why: Zone 1 or 2 has one subway tunnel with fog and lighting effects for no reason. I don't understand that yet. The ELEVATOR from Data Hive is, however, accessible in-game. We have been there and elevatored about half way up and stood on the side. It looks to be exactly like the cinema scene, so we believe it serves no active purpose. We are currently experimenting with elevators to off map locations. Any important finds will be shared. EDIT: atarigen was recently temp-banned for asking Shiska about QTA XII/VI in reference to "Quicktime Application released in December (12) about six new spartans (6)." Hm, I wonder how much they don't want us to find out... Bring it, Bungie. We'll find your secrets eventually. :P [Edited on 01.10.2010 4:41 PM PST]

Video Logs add content to the game. Recall when you are fighting through the Covenant to reach Captain Dare? If you have collected all 30 audio logs, the one New Mombassa police officer will follow you down into the levels of the data core instead of being killed by drones. He says something about checking on something, which is to see if his men killed Dr. Endesha by the orders of police commissioner Kingsler. Then the officer turns on you saying "you know too much" and attempts to kill you.

I went to one of the stone henge areas excpet there's actually nothing there, it's just grass and trees. I jumped into a tree and I got a Checkpoint. Probably just a coincidence.

Hi all, great thread and great work, Over the last 2 days I have read every post in this thread, I would love to help out and now that I am caught up on all the information I am going to start investigating the streets. If any one would like me to do something specific or wants/needs a hand to work on some of these theories I would love to help. I will post anything that I find out, if you would like an extra hand my GT is Captain DUI. Good luck all

In the stratagey guide it frequently states there are 8 supply caches while we have only found seven. What's more only 7 supply caches are listed in the guide despite this. As a possible theory I believe we must get par score on every level including mombassa streets for some reason. I mean we got achievements for it in halo 3, mabye they will reward us differently for it in ODST.
Posted by: V101 I have blown the Engineers up in the two areas. I have blown just one up or none or both on different occasions. I haven't noticed anything odd either way. I did notice they seem to react when you first take a mongoose into the area. I tried using the mongoose to ram the walls so it sort of goes up the wall a bit. I was figuring I could climb the wall or something. Alas I couldn't do it. Unless they recognise the mongoose in some way as per my engineer theory. Hmmm I still think you have to get up onto the second level somehow.
Here's a couple of things to try. 1) find an elevator/jump glitch on co-op with a friend. 2) park the mongoose in the center of the stonehenge thing and leave it there and watch from a distance (maybe they'll try fixing it) 3) stack some mongooses and have 4 players on co-op and stack everything to get up higher. Just some things I thought of doing a couple of seconds ago. [Edited on 01.10.2010 1:08 AM PST]
Posted by: HUNTER RUNDAS it was near the mirror plaza of plaza tayari but im not sure about the exact position, now im searching for things with my friend we are going to search for the building
hmm i shall check this out i could possibly get the camera inside the building if i`m lucky

After reading some of this thread i went to the stone hedge with the 2 engineers, the glyphs werent visible to me until i killed one of the engineers, just thought that might help, and ive noticed that 3s are very important, lots of scenery comes in 3s and in this game (unlike halo 3) you are able to carry 3 grenades of each type. *EDIT* I thought about it and i think a possible explanation for the glyphs and sad superintendent face appearing after i killed an engineer is that virgil(the superintendent and also an ENGINEER) was upset about the killing of his kind. Therefore the sad superintendent face appeared. Where was the building with all the dead elites? That sounds really weird.

guys I just posted something in the old thread im here because i helped with the glyph investigation in the early stages of the thread...well apart from that im going to write my post here because i think its important... The last time I played ODST i was playing with my friend Nilgogo via Xbox live, we were all around the city with mongooses when suddenly we saw some engineers exiting a building (thing that is not normal since in the engineer map of neew mombasa there isnt a location inside a building...)so i told my friend to follow them, we followed them to the top part of the city ,were almost all of the doors are closed...and suddenly the engineers got out of the district...we left our mongooses and started watching them. They were already outside the city and they started spinning around and making noises then they started floating towards some buildings and they got inside one so we lost them...we quickly took some snipers and what we saw was so great!!!a big flash of light and then silence....no song....no shooting...just silence...so we thought nah just the game crashing and i remembered the thread!!!so I went to the buildings where the glyphs were and what we saw was really weird...we saw some elite corpses and we started spilling blood everywhere(because i heard something about blood activating glyphs..)but nothing happened..but suddenly we heard the voice of a brute...so we hid behind some lockers or desk...i dunno....and we saw three brutes with an engineer...the brutes started talking weird...and suddenly the engineer shot a beam of light(like the one used at the glyphs)towards the elites after like six seconds the brute leader said"wait!!its done weve got it lets get back to the...."i could hear it all because my friend killed them...well thats all hope it helps..
-
Guydo, have you try a multi to explode several engineers in different areas at the same time? Thank you If you have it done already I would not try
-
I also have found at least one cache that I can not open. It is locked every time I go there. Seems odd to me that Bungie would include a supply cache that you can not access. I wonder what is in there and how to get it open. I have tried going back to it wayyyy later in the game but it is always locked.
-
In the tease video, Bungie says theirs five different types of supply caches. I've discovered four. Mongooses, Snipers, 2 Rocket Launcher caches, and an average cache with just SMG and pistol ammo. That leaves one undiscovered type of Supply cache in the city for me. Also, I've discovered other supply cache locations but they won't open and aren't marked on the map. I have all Audio logs so obviously Bungie is hiding something from us.

I just completed kikowani station with all skulls turned on and nothing new happened, except for me dying every 2 seconds! I looked everywhere. The thing is i just loaded that level instead of doing the whole campaign. I am gonna try it again but when i get home so ill have proof, IF i find anything. That being said if i can manage it on my own, as it is ridiculously hard with all skulls on. Do you think i have to have it on legendary, as it is a right pain? anyone willing to give me a hand is more than welcome to PM me, Ill be home tomorrow! [Edited on 01.03.2010 8:46 AM PST]

That pr try elevator jumping up if there is a tight corner.
