This is a refreshed and revised version of the thread that was maintained by
SeasonedVeterans. The reason this has been done is because too many
people were getting stuck on the old title, and the idea of swords. Also now
we have an organised and revised version of everything found.

S.1 Opening Statement
Any and all information may be relevant, and it is up to you to decide if it can help in anyway. I encourage all trying to help to refrain from multiple posts about different ideas discoveries etc. I obviously realise that things are learned at different times, but it makes it easier for me and others to keep track of everything if it is all together in one place. Try to be neat as well, no need for confusion on misused, forgotten or misspelled words.
In the infancy stages of our findings there will be lots of field work to do. It will eventually slow down.
So in conclusion help is greatly appreciated and we (as in the people working towards this goal) are asking help from you the reader to do some researching, field work, and brain storming. You can pick one or contribute in all of the above, after doing so post your results here and let us and yourself run with the ideas! Arguments for and against this are all welcome as both can be constructive. Refrain from flaming and trolling and simply making fun of other people.
S.2 Goal of the Project
The Bungie community has come to the conclusion that it is very possible that Bungie has created multiple Easter Eggs throughout the whole that is ODST. We have many clues towards these things including information from Bungie regarding secrets, canon to the story, and Easter Eggs. (Looking for more confirmation.[That's UK's OXM readers!])
Following the idea that there is a possibility of unlocking these different bits of information, we are taking it upon ourselves to look for multiple clues and leads to unlocking the secrets that are within the game! Whether it be simple Easter Eggs or more story into the Forerunners, on top of all of this we will have an extensive and detailed documentation of all the recordings logged along the way.
S.3 Mystery of the Glyphs
No doubt most of everyone has noticed the strange Glyphs that are around New Mombasa, and I wouldn't doubt that you yourself have at least simply wondered what they were all about. That is what this section is dedicated to in hopes of finding out.
S.3a What we know so far
We know that the ones responsible for the mysterious glyphs, or at least some of them, are the Engineers. They use these glyphs as a form of communication it seems to tell stories, the Y shapes seem to represent Forerunner ships. Currently we do not know of what the Glyphs depict, but it can be seen that these Glyphs are different looking than our typical Covenant Glyphs. Whether they mean different, similar or the same things is, so far, unknown.
The large Glyphs consisting of three sections separated by a Y shaped line, can have a few different builds:
They can consist of no glyphs.
They can consist of these new glyphs we will dub "Engineer Glyphs."
They can consist of S.I. faces, or S.I. Glyphs.
A Glyph can contain up to all three of these things at any given time. There is never more than one Glyph in any of the three sections of the triad.
S.3b Recording of the different Glyphs and their locations
Here is where we will record all the different known Glyph types, and their appropriate Sectors. You can save the following Sector Map to use as a guide when locating and recording these Glyphs. Print it off and open it up in MS Paint, and add points like G1, G2, G3 etc. with an appropriately labelled photo of the Glyph. If the Glyph is somewhat hidden, a brief tutorial on how to find it will be necessary. I personally believe this will be the most in depth and time consuming field work and will be the most extensive work.
Unique Glyph Builds:
The different Glyph builds will be located in here, it will document all the different variations
(At the moment this is briefly empty)
Sector Map (pertaining to Glyphs)
This Sector Map will be a guide to all the different Glyph locations and should eventually allow us to figure out which Glyphs disappear and where.
(At the moment this is briefly empty)
If requested I can post an exemplary way of labelling, recording, and documenting. You can always do your best since I will assimilate all the findings for consistency.
S.4 Dig Site Lamps
Dig site lamps (picture please?) are simply those lights that extend up when something approaches them, signifying that they are turning on when needed. It is unknown if these lights have any point or meaning, or are purely for aesthetic purposes.
The reason for them possibly being "Dig Site" lamps is because where they have been found in Halo 3 is in underground dug out parts of the map. If they are in fact "Dig site lamps" then what exactly are they digging for? It's known that the Ark Portal isn't directly under the city, but between it and the town of Voi. Could it be possible that more is buried on our planet? Or is it simply a part of the Portal they are uncovering. Either way, it helps develop the canon of Halo for the community, and help us to realise the reason for such an excavation to be overseen personally by the Prophet of Truth.
S.5 An ODST Stonehenge
It's obvious that these areas interest us, they are very different than the rest of the war torn city of New Mombasa. Upon entering you feel a sort of, post-war peacefulness. A Stonehenge like structure sits in the center of a room; the room contains dead Elites and Engineers that putter about. These rooms are usually hot beds for Glyph activities.
It has been reported that upon standing in the center of a Stonehenge, different music has played that had not been heard before. Confirmation in this area would help, and any recording of it would aid in figuring out any significance in the music.
What exactly are they for? It is unknown at this point, but it definitely would seem like something is there. Perhaps the Engineers have set up a sort of shrine of their own, perhaps not, but only explored theories will produce answers. The answers will also most likely produce further questioning.
S.6 Audio Logs
It is uncertain if there is more to be learned from the Audio Logs then just that of a story of a girl. Whether it's learning more of this girl, and/or her family is uncertain, but it's quite possible that there could be more to this.
Credit to VirtualCtor for bringing attention to the Audio Log Transcripts located on the Halo Wiki. Read this at your own pace community and see if anything particular stands out. Remember we have a cop in the game that has a connection to these people!
S.7 Engineer Habits
With ODST came the introduction of Engineers. The Engineer is a timid creature that flys about doing more of the Covenants mundance tasks. They are incredibly advanced and have the ability to fix, so far, everything. It's no doubt that you've seen the "flying bombs" that the Brutes have conscripted. It appears that they may have more of a significance then it would appear, in regard to the whole shroud covering ODST. What their significance is has yet to be realised.
It has been confirmed that the Engineers flee at the arming of Snipers. It is uncertain but assumed that only the Snipers make them flee, it's possible that other power weapons do as well. When visiting Stonehenge it seems that Engineers may react when standing in the center of the Stonehenge, and that a new song has been heard to play.

Of which seceret skull do you speak? I know where the 14th skull is. Is there a 15th? How do you know?
-
Dude, and y'all Haven't you guys ever considered the option that there might be no "Super mega secret" in Halo ODST? Considering we couldn't even find out how to get the last of the skulls in Halo 3, do you think we have a chance here without the help from Bungie employees? I'd love the idea of the glyph having some sort of meaning, but what if there is no secret?
-
There is also a dead elite of the same rank in the halo 3 level floodgate. I will go check to see if it has any glyphs.

I'm, at the moment, trying to decipher it.
I've had no luck at deciphering it, and could not find any inclination as to what the meaning of that specific Glyph is... I didn't find any record of it being on an Elite prior to this one though... From what I could decipher, it would seem that the letters top to bottom begin with an A, and end with a Y, the third letter possibly being an N... The Second doesn't seem to be in the alphabet from what I can see.
Perhaps the small glyphs are a bunch of encrypted coordinates to a shield world (Onyx?) and the big Y shaped glyph is a forerunner keyship. I have seen some of these symbols on a Halo: Combat Evolved elite of the exact same rank, also dead when I got there. I will try to link the two. Is there anything in new mombasa that starts with the same letter as the small glyphs (covenant alphabet)? If so, perhaps you need to visit them in that order (left to right or right to left) to unlock something. I will see if the halo 2, 3, and Reach Beta elite glyphs are also linked to these.
Posted by: facetious ca
Posted by: pitbullfathead S.7d Engineer Tracking Engineer tracking is similar to bird tracking. You will monitor their habits, whatever they be... You will also make attempts at interacting with them, what makes them nice and what makes them suicide and what simply doesn't do anything at all. It at times could be boring, it depends if you are into it or not. This can be done if you simply come across them or if it interests you.
From my interactions, Engineers never suicide. They do have an explosive device attached to them that will begin beeping and eventually detonate when: a) their squad-leader Brute is killed; or b) their shields are down and they are injured (but not injured enough to die) I have not found them to behave in any other ways with the exception of the Engineer Virgil who does not appear to have an explosive device attached to him.
i know you posted a long long time ago but just in case you don't know yet look at the audio logs and you'll see that the engineers sacrificed themselves to get the bombs off virgil.

i cant believe its been almost half a year and no one has found anything significant. i am really bummed
-
Well the Beta is over now you can look.LOL
-
But, there is a Teddy Bear. I would like to challenge you all to try and find it. If you dont believe it's real check my fill share.
-
Because there are no swords in ODST. Just sword hilts.
-
This is my first post and I remember before I signed up this thread was like where you guys were looking for the sword. It seems like your not anymore. How come?? I'd like to know.

Has anyone noted that when you first find "the cop" in data hive the SI says "hitchhikers may be escaped convicts" ? "Hitchhiker" the cop follows you, "convict" may try to kill you.
Posted by: xXGuydoXx You know, atarigen and I have been elevating to new areas (and old ones). We have definately made progress: Tayari Plaza: At the first meetup with the marines, go left into the buildings door up the stairs, and just before exiting to outside, the SI says "School Zone. Slow down. Bill past due." Although this is not "new" information, the next part may be. While advancing up a door was unlocked, which we previously had not noticed. An LCD screen displays static in the room. Continuing to the uppermost catwalk, one may stand in the corner. If the volume is load enough, one can hear a string orchestra playing with some keys and a low hum. Furthermore, atarigen heard a music event when he picked up a nade next to the dead marine. (Possible Coincidences, I know.) Mombasa Streets: It has come to our observation that one district (I believe 5?) has some interest: the district with a giant arcing piece of the space tether has three elephant garbage trucks. ONE of these is lit up and active. The tether appears to lead to a rooftop from nearby one of these trucks. When advancing all the way left, glyphs and one dead elite may be found near the large door. While walking parallel to this on the upper level next to the garbage truck, a "MAGICAL FLOATING LCD DISPLAY" is near the wall as if a Medstation is there. There is no med station, but Virgil mentions Optican. Mombasa Streets: It seems that all inaccessible sectors are there for loading from memory during cinematics. Why: Zone 1 or 2 has one subway tunnel with fog and lighting effects for no reason. I don't understand that yet. The ELEVATOR from Data Hive is, however, accessible in-game. We have been there and elevatored about half way up and stood on the side. It looks to be exactly like the cinema scene, so we believe it serves no active purpose. We are currently experimenting with elevators to off map locations. Any important finds will be shared. EDIT: atarigen was recently temp-banned for asking Shiska about QTA XII/VI in reference to "Quicktime Application released in December (12) about six new spartans (6)." Hm, I wonder how much they don't want us to find out... Bring it, Bungie. We'll find your secrets eventually. :P
i know too much the are going to find me super sheulth upside down follow arrows follow the arrows and you will see

Posted by: pitbullfathead S.8 Mapped Points of Interest Bungie user zackXman has compiled a map that documents points of interest that will be more easily found for all will to help. It will change as new things arise and old things become obsolete. bad link to the map.mini laptop This is the map but more people should send me findings and I'll add more info on it if anyone sends it to me. I made it in a hurry and everything was just off the top of my head which is why it's such poor quality. [Edited on 10.09.2009 1:53 PM PDT]
Posted by: HarisDude This might seem sorta off topic, but the cop, the one you had to fight in the last campaign level, could he possibly be the same cop Sadie was with. If so, what happened to Sadie? Why does the cop want to kill Sadie's father? Who gave him the order to kill Sadie's father? Maybe this is what Bungie meant when they said finding all the audiophiles would be a "fan service"
The Cop is one of the Corrupt cops serving the Chief of Police. (NOT EXACT) "He (Chief) told me to come down here and make sure he (Sadie's Father) was dead" "Sorry friend, but no one's supposed to know about this" His corruption is evident when he attacks you to cover up the murder- the Si confirms his status as a bad guy, for whenever he dies (at your hands or at the hands of the buggers) the SI chirps "Crime doesn't pay" Also, his voice is different.
Posted by: master of ares The lights by the stone henges, they can be killed right?
Yes, they can be killed.
and how did you get the brute to kill itself?
I think a Brute Captain was in the border of a bubble shield, shot, and the Brute shot Grenade hit the bubble shield, killing the already weakened brute. And for some reason, the Engineer didn't die, as it normally would. This was a total accident, however. The results have been tried to be reproduced by trying to get some Stalkers "accidentally" to kill the Captain with Flame Grenades. Any other ideas?

Engineers also run away from rocket launchers.

Hey guys. This my have have been mentioned earlier, but there are spikes in on of the stones in the Stonehenge. Its to the left of the stone with the sad SI face on it. Sorry if this was already mentioned. I just don't have time to read through 24 pages of this.

Has anyone tryed the 'keep fiddling' easter egg on the legendary ending?
Posted by: fallofreach23 i think they reacted different to a sniper rifle because of buck's mission when romeo shot the engineer maybe they have like a collective mind like shared thoughts thats how they have the abilitie to fix well anything and after being killed by the rifle the other quickly understood that snipers bad just my thoughts on that
I have seen this before. What I mean to say is that the engineers will most definnitly learn from past experiences. I was in New Mombasa streets for my first time playing. I freaked out when I saw these two engineers for the first time in a court yard that was closed off (similar to the small "stonehenge" area), and I began to open fire at one of them with my smg. The engineer chirped and increased its internal gases making it float away. But it was flying specifically towards the other engineer, and the other alien did the same. This is a defenseive strategy I had realized. Just like how the engineer carrying the superintendent sheilded Dare's Elephant to protect dare and itself, the two engineers flew together to multiply each others sheilds to a great strength until the injured one fully healed. I also noticed that, after I left and got the Rocket Launcher to kill the engineers (I was new), I came back and the engineer I fired at earlier reacted to my prescence by simply moving as far away as possible, but not to its partner for protection. This demonstrates a trust that the aliens must have in humans that they are not truly enemies of each other, but neither engineer nor player can communicate such. At the same time, the engineer i figured was the one I hadn't fired at was floating close enough to me that i could touch it. Hope this helps. [Edited on 03.09.2010 8:06 PM PST]
