HEY BUNGIE...Was this your idea of PVP for Destiny???
First off, MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone in the Destiny community!
43 DTR here, so you know I take my Crucible serious.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. I GUARANTEE YOU. Especially for all the good players who are similar to me. I jump into Crucible by myself. Sometimes I'll run w/ groups, but for the majority I love just going in by myself. I LOVE how unique Destiny's PVP is compared to titles like COD and/or Halo. But this Meta has been the ABSOLUTE WORST.
Let me clarify on a few questions that seem to be the norm for this meta:
-Is it bc of lag? NOPE, almost every lobby I've been in, everyone is green bar. Of course there are lobbies that have that one yellow/red bar player, but what can you do?
-Is it bc of the weapon balance? NOPE. Ppl can complain about, "ooo I just hate how the developers keep shifting favor from one type of gun to another". Honestly, just stfu and ADJUST. Get acclimated to different weapons. I still have fun switching from one gun and using another that I haven't used previously. Again, diversity element is awesome in this game!
-Is it bc of all the snipers out there? NOPE. Again, ADJUST ppl, ADJUST.
So OP, what is wrong w/ Crucible???, you may ask. Well, let me TELL YOU exactly what the problem is (from my POV)
[b]-MATCHMAKING SYSTEM[/b]
Yes, the matchmaking system. Something weird changed for whatever the matchmaking algorithm was previously. I started taking note of the matter when I realized a continued pattern each lobby had in common. It was [b]the consistent fireteams of 45+ DTR players.[/b] Before the 2.1.0 update, I would end up against a team full of blue berries and maybe face a fire team 1 in 25 matches. Even then, the fire teams wouldn't be a whole bunch of the top 1% in the PVP world.
However, it is now the common where I would run into fireteams that consists of these 1%. I didn't realize this until I started going to the roster during waiting times between matches, with destinytracker on my laptop, and would see these kinds of fireteams. I was extremely curious so I even went to the legacy playlist and wouldn't you know it, these fireteams were in there as well! I seriously believe this is [b]THE main problem for the meta right now.[/b]
Bungie, if I was fortunate to have you read my thread, please please please do something about your matchmaking. I had so much fun w/ how matchmaking was before this December update. Specifically, the matchmaking RIGHT BEFORE this update was extremely fun and pristine, IMO. The way matchmaking is, is and will continue to disappoint those who take your PVP element serious just like me. Even worse, and I don't normally defend the noobie players, I actually fear for how pissed/discouraged they may feel if they were to face these teams, lobby after lobby. It would for sure make for a bad 1st impression and that they may refrain from setting foot into Cruc again.
Again, Bungie, I'm sure I hit the nail on the head for the main reason your loyal PVPers are starting to hate Crucible and even have some of them stop playing Destiny's PVP altogether. Drop a quick patch fix addressing matchmaking and you will win the hearts of the majority again.

What was the point of adding trials when they make the whole crucible super competitive. Casual crucible play is gone and I'm forced to use good guns. I can't experiment with different weapons without getting stomped on and I'm also having a difficult time completing quests as well. Do you know how hard it is to get a kill with a vortex grenade? Especially against a good player it's very difficult. [spoiler]If Bungie wanted to make Crucible more competitive they should of added private matches or a ranked playlist [/spoiler]

Glad I have a lower dtr then because if I do feel like trying, I go against less skilled players. If only I cared enough about k/D instead of just having fun.

Sniper at every choke point and that one shottie titan who ice skates to the top. Thank god for NLB or the fun of solo pvp would be no more.

They cant comprehend what the playerbase wants and just do what ever the 2 year old that they hired for their development lead says. Next they are going to give the sparrows a boot and make every one ride pink pokkadotted pack mules. This game is dead, its getting borderline necrophiliac in this forum.

Yup, since the patch it can take minutes to find a game. And almost every game is sweaty. I dont mind to play against good players but to do it almost every game is abit boring. And we often play against americans or South americans now and im based in northen europe, that never happend before unless we had a american host

It doesnt bother me only in rift that game mode should go other teams pushing ur rift so you spawn in the middle of the map and its just instant death from there

3 RepliesMe and my friends actually enjoy this because every team we come across is good and fun to play against. But that being said, Idk if it's the match making. I just think there's less ppl playing crucible right now and mainly the good PvP players stuck around. Matches take forever to find except trials. It wasn't like this before. I think most ppl are still doing srl or just don't enjoy the crucible anymore. This is all just what I think is going on

Matchmaking sucks Lag. I always seem to match against 6 red bars Primary guns suck (all of them so pvp is just a huge special weapon fest) Hit detection. I swear I wonder how I missed and other times why I got the hit. Those are my complaints w pvp.

I have a 43 as well in trials at least, I understand it however there is so much less room for error and my 1.6 can't compare to the 2.6-3.0 fire teams I'm facing each week. Ps I also play be myself a lot and have recently just quit cause I'm getting steamrolled by teams of 6.

1 ReplyDude, maybe now you have to actually earn your DTR. The matchmaking as it is now is best for all of us. We are matched with people who are near our "skill level". The blueberries finally have a chance to compete with people who don't body them every time they spawn in because they're matching with people who are of their skill level. Honestly, you're just too worried about your pathetic stats. Stop thinking about yourself and think about the community as a whole. The meta is the meta, like you said - [i]adjust[/i]. [spoiler]Before you check my stats and call me a scrub, please know I run sweatz every time I'm on. It's easier to match sweatz now that the matchmaking is skill based, so I love it![/spoiler]

SoundS like your using noobs to cover for the fact that when your running solo with randoms you dislike the fact your facing fireteams. Like you said in your post....ADJUST ADJUST

2 RepliesLiterally is(or was, when I played this game) in the same boat as you. However, they won't fix this since the majority of Destinys PvP players(the bad to below average) will look at your argument as if your trying to just pub stomp(some inexperienced opinions as is I see), and well, that's who bunchee pays most attention to. It sucks how the actual good players are severely punished going in crucible solo...I myself have been paired up with people who have shown they not only want to be carried to a win...but they EXPECT it as well...all while rocking a classy 0.3 k/d. The effect of this cause? You either pair up(pubstomp...yawn...)or take the risk of going against average to good players with a team who doesn't know left from right. That's pretty much how this game is going to stay in its lifecycle.

2 RepliesIt's to even the teams. It isn't fair to have you, 43 dtr player, to play with other 45 dtr players against blueberries. I also look at the lobby during 3v3 and when I see a noob among good players I know the noob will be on my team. 95% of the time I'm right.

What if bungie implemented some sort of ranking system, maybe like levels 1-50, then matched you into games based off that ranking system? Oh wait they did that before in some of the greatest games of all time.

Thought this was gonna be one of those posts. Glad it wasn't. You put up some good points. The popular weapons being used are the most balanced, snipers are in abundance and scout rifles like mida give them a run for their money while a good sniper beats the majority of things at long range. I'm totally fine with Mida as it reminds me of halo BR battles which is awesome. People also need to realise that bullet magnetism happens to ALL scouts at longer ranges. We have a viable short range primary, a viable mid to long sniper counter and then sniper rifles for long range. Most people complain because they just do not have the awareness or adaptability to realise it's as balanced as it will get.
