(Bump for December Update hype tomorrow!)
Hello. My name is Sir Rhubarb. Today I am going to show you some reasons to ditch consoles and switch to PC.
Before I begin, let me excuse some counter-arguments.
(Point 1:)
"PC gaming is expensive!"
First of all, building a PC isn't as expensive as you think. You can build a budget rig and still hit a steady 1080p60 for about 500$. You can even start out with a shitty build for about 400$ and get a stable 1080p30. NOTE: You will be saving more money in the long run because of Steam Sales, and you can also upgrade separate parts instead of replacing the entire system (Xbox/PS).
(Point 2:)
"The community is shit!"
The Steam community isn't bad at all! Some people get that impression because of the satirical group PC Master Race. That community isn't even that bad. I personally subscribed to the subreddit because it's really helpful. I also met a few other gamers who enjoy the same games.
(Point 3:)
PC has no exclusives!
This is entirely wrong. Not only does PC have double, if not triple, the amount of exclusives of both Playstation and Xbox have combined, these exclusives have been GOTY (Game of the Year) many years.
(Point 4:)
"Sitting in front of a computer monitor is horrible!"
This one is easily excused because all you have to do is take an HDMI cable and plug your PC into your TV. I do this regularly.
(Point 5:)
"Keyboard and mouse sucks! I want to use controllers!"
This one is laughable.
Step 1: Plug controller into PC
Step 2: Turn on game
Almost every game on Steam has controller support. You can even use an Xbox 360/PS3/PS4/Xbox One controller, and it would work just as well as on console.
(Point 6:)
YOU WILL BE SAVING MORE MONEY!
Due to the game's files fully accessible to the community, developers can't get away with cutting corners when it comes to making games. The PC gaming community doesn't put up with money-milking business tactics. This is why you don't see CoD very popular on Steam. You can even return a game if you pre-order it off the Steam Store! Also, due to Steam sales making games incredibly low priced, you'll be saving about 75% on everything on basically every holiday.
(Point 7:)
GABEN GABEN GABEN GABEN GABEN GABEN
What are you waiting for? Don't buy the next Xbox or Playstation. Upgrade to PC and save money!
Oh, also mods, which will make you never go back.

(Also, you can easily pirate games.. lel.)
TL;DR: PC's basically do everything better, you should upgrade.

PC players are whiny who never fully support developers. They pirate and only buy games that arent full price. Plus I like playing with all of my friends. Plus those exclusives are tiny Indie rts's and platformers.

This is a really good idea, kinda fed up with everything going on... And I've been keeping up on Star Citizen...

1 ReplyMy heart rests with Nintendo. Always has, and always will. Unless you can replicate my childhood memories of Pokémon with your $400 PC rig, I'll stick with my Wii-U and 3DS.

Edited by The Fallen Zyzz: 12/16/2015 7:38:20 PMIf you have the money and know how to source a clean and stable build, you should swap to PC. PC gaming is legit if you're on the level. Unless you like console exclusives such as Bloodborne and Halo, you really have no reason to not have a decent PC build.

I don't really feel like building a pc and learning how to build it and stuff. I doubt it's that hard once you know everything and I'm really just lazy, but consoles have always been my kind of thing. Just a lot simpler to me to go in and buy a console that I know works for what I want to play on it.

1 ReplyEdited by Progo: 12/15/2015 5:22:21 AMBuilt my own PC back in February, damn is it fun :D After the amazing graphics, my next favorite part is having an SSD, it takes 7 seconds for me to load a save game in fallout 4. And OP is right about how you can build a good lightweight PC for $400ish which will hold its own against the current gen consoles. The myth of it being super expensive is perpetuated by the people who show off their jaw dropping $2-3k monster builds for 4K gaming.

Edited by Menaxo: 12/15/2015 5:25:59 AMsounds good you tell me where I can buy what I need that will be able to run every game that comes out for pc over the next 8 years for 500 bucks. and I will buy it all when I get payed

2 RepliesThis is bait
-
3 RepliesDidn't Valve license permission to different computer brands to make some sort of Steam consoles? What's up with those? Does anyone have one?
-
1 ReplyAnyone here know a good 1440p 144hz PC gaming/editing monitor under 300$? I'm building a PC and I need a good monitor.
-
4 RepliesYou lost me when you said "crappy 400$ rig"
-
Consoles are for people like me who don't know enough about building a pc and don't have a desk to set it up on
-
2 RepliesPC gaming was pretty good until things like Steam came around. Despite some awkward copy protection in the past, at least I had control of how and where things installed. All those dozens of PC only games are mostly terrible. That said, the big cross platform games are going to run considerably better on the PC than consoles. These days, my computers are relegated to work and I keep my more casual gaming in the living room.

5 RepliesDoes Bloodborne look good on PC?
-
2 RepliesLol virgin master race trying to redeem themselves. Run along, kiddo
-
2 RepliesPicture the average PC gamers you knew in high school/college. That is why I will never switch to PC.
-
3 RepliesHow does halo look? Or Uncharted? Or maybe GoW, how about destiny? Maybe Mario kart? Or Mario bros? How about ratchet and clank? Oh wait...
-
I prefer console. -blam!- me right?
-
Man, you are -blam!-ing cancer. I'm building a PC but I am going to keep and continue to play my 360 and Xbox one.
-
Out of all that, I still don't see any reasons to switch back to pc.
-
4 RepliesI'm not gonna read all this but in short term I'm gonna assume it just says "there is no reason to switch"
-
4 RepliesPC? Pfft! More like Pee, See? Because PC users all pee their pants when they get beaten up. Also, good luck playing the best game ever (Destiny) on your PC.
