For the past 3 days now I have been getting terrible network speeds (down: 2.5, up: 0.5). I love playing destiny, so mostly out of rebellion I chose to play with those unfavorable conditions because it's iron banner week (the only reason I play in the crucible).
After winning a match, I was notified by a couple of the opposing team's players that I had been reported by their entire fireteam of 6 for lag switching and that they got me banned. I let them know that they had made a false assumption, but apparently that doesn't matter?
The next day (today) after beating up oryx with a kick-butt fireteam. I noticed that I was locked out of the crucible. It goes to show that victims of connectivity get punished on all fronts. The ban hammer fell on me harder than oryx's fist. Normally I wouldn't care because I hate the crucible, but the fact that I'm innocent, and that its iron banner week, makes me really upset. In fact I payed for this game, but I get restricted from playing it?
I don't know how to manipulate connectivity, but in my defense, I'm on a wireless connection with Bluerim (if that even matters, I wouldn't know!)
I am not the only one who has been wronged by Bungie, just ask Martin O'Donnell.
If anyone should be banned it should be either my ISP or Bungie for actually slamming me for playing with a poor connection. As if playing in the crucible wasn't terrible enough, why would I suffer through it with lag? For the WAY OP guns that I will now be rekt by because Bungie will not allow me to get them.
FML Bungie, since 2007. ('_')

^Now that my connection is better I decided to go back for an "enjoyable" time in the iron banner. But alas now that my connection is normal I cannot. Lol I can not believe it.

1 ReplyWell that sux my friend. Yeah bungie is firm on the ban hammer reversal. That blows if you r innocent! But if you are vengeful you could always contact the lizard squad!

1 ReplyI feel your pain, but I also agree that people with poor connections should not be in the crucible matches. It sucks and I get killed trying to kill you while you're jumping around my screen and then your team kills me. (Example).. I would just say if your connection is bad . Upgrade or don't play till it is. I don't report people with glitchy play. ..I block them so I don't get paired with them again so what they did was mean but feel there pain too. Nuff said

Edited by TonyPartridge30: 10/15/2015 3:44:00 PMBungie said in a weekly update that players with consistently bad connection would be restricted from certain activities until they could fix or better their connections. Edit: read Weekly Update 8/13/2015 for more info.

1 ReplySorry to hear that, best of luck getting word from Bungie or a Moderator or whomever. Meanwhile people all over these forums can call each other offensive names like "retard" and "pussy" or "whiny bitch" and yet they don't experience any form of ban. Very sorry to hear this happened to you. I myself am on a wireless connection with TWC (which is just awful I might add) so I avoid Crucible too. I'm afraid to even try ToO cause my connection is usually pretty bad during PvP, and much better in PvE situations...no idea why.

1 ReplyQ: Where do I go to dispute the status of my Destiny account? How do I get a restriction/ban overturned? A: There are no options to dispute or overturn account restrictions or bans. Permanent account bans are only implemented with rigorous checking to ensure that the innocent are not punished alongside the guilty. Bungie will not comment on or discuss individual account restriction or bans. Restrictions are temporary, and will not be overturned or undone before they expire. Once an account is banned however, that ban is permanent. Account restrictions and bans are only done in extreme cases; if actions were taken against your account, then it was with reason.

Q: What behaviors can lead Bungie to apply account restrictions or bans to a user? A: Bungie regards the following behavior to be in breach of the license agreement that governs Destiny, and therefore potentially subject to access restrictions: Connecting to the Destiny game service with any of the following: Modified game software Modified game assets Modified console hardware Modified console firmware Using an external program to modify the operation of the Destiny game software (trainer or mod) Using an external program or device to automate gameplay or circumvent idle detection Modification or interruption of Destiny network traffic with intent to disrupt other players’ experiences or to gain advantage in the game Intentionally deriving gameplay benefit from another user’s behavior in the above categories Unauthorized access to Destiny software or downloadable content (game piracy) Impersonating a Bungie, Microsoft, Sony, or Activision employee ***I don't fall under any of those ^ categories, that is why I came here***

1 ReplyHave you tired a wired connection with your router? This will give you better stability and slightly better up and down speeds.
