I think I should post this, because of the amounts of noobs I see in the PvP control.
Every map has 2 zones close to one another and one zone at the far end of the map... Don't go waste your time with the far end one. Coz that's one less person to defend the captured zones.
When you have captured the two zones close to one another (let's say C and B), if you go and capture zone A, the other team will start spawning at C, and then they'll capture both C and B, and leave us spawning at the far end of the map aka zone A. And then we get buttfocked.
When we finally regain the two close zones, DEFEND THEM! I'm not asking you to camp and be biatches, just defend them without strolling too far away from them. You do not need all three zones in order to destroy the other team. So again, IGNORE the last far away zone!
It's control! Not clash! Get rid of your sniper, stop camping in some corner, attack and go capture the zones.
In ALL maps, the most important zone ALWAYS turns out to be zone B, so focus on it! Stop taking 10min to go from one corner of the map to the other, to capture zone A and C.
The more people on a zone, the faster you capture it. If you see some guy on his own, neutralising a zone, HELP HIM ! Don't just run by him like you don't have a care in the world, because he's gonna get gangbanged by the entire other team coming back to defend the zone.
And finally, let's say the only zone your team had is the one at the far end of the map, and ennemies arrive to capture it... LET THEM ! If they capture it, that means you'll spawn at one of the other zones that are close to one another. Golden opportunity to capture them both!
I think I covered everything.
Hopefully, some of the noobs I'm talking about will see this post, and realise their mistakes.
Thank you, and you're welcomed.

1 ReplyEdited by Tesshu_Yamaoka: 6/6/2015 8:51:01 PMIn the words of the famous Johan Cruijff: at the end of the soccer match, the team who scores the most, wins. So: Cap.The.Frikkin.Zones. Control is not Clash and unless you are the best Crucible Pro-team ever, you are going to lose if you do not Control zones :-) After that, try to understand which zones are the best and how spawn flipping works. Annoying as it may be, ppl who cap A on Blind Watch/Shores are probably rookies, so I can live with that. But running past zones and leaving other ppl to cap pisses me off the most.
-
2 RepliesWait. People actually care about winning in Iron Banner?
-
1 ReplyUgh, I was doing shores of time last night. We started off on C. We capped it and B quickly the entire match we held C and swapped B regularly. We were ahead a few thousand the entire match. It was looking like a win till these 2 noobs went and capped A. We had no chance after that.
-
3 RepliesIt always amazes me how many games I see people with 0 zones controlled at the end of a match. Why play control if you are not going to capture zones and get more points for your team.
-
Bumping my own post because I just played 2 Iron Banner on Shores Of Time, and my teams kept going for zone A and ignoring zone B and C. This is fockin ridiculous...
-
Bump. For God's sake people. Why oh why do you keep trying to capture all 3 zones?!?! When will you realise that it's specifically the reason why you are bloody loosing!!!
-
2 RepliesI know it's bad to capture the third zone, but what about just neutralizing it?
-
1 ReplyShores of Time, C is the most important zone to control. You can defend B from C, but it is impossible to defend C from B. You MUST control C. If you hold B and C, NEVER try to take A, A is useless.
-
Nah, Control is just Clash played entirely around point B. ;D
-
Very good post! All PvP Control N00bs! Please read and play the game properly.
-
It's beyond amazing how many times I'll see a 5-25 guy with the MOST captures AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCOREBOARD. Too many people don't have the basic understanding of how much different Control is from similar modes in other titles. It kind of has the potential to take all the fun out of the game for the other teammates.
-
Most typically I prefer A and B, sometimes C instead of A. Some maps it doesn't matter between A and C. You should just disregard which ever is farther from B.

1 ReplyEdited by SpacialSnowflake: 4/30/2015 3:22:10 PMThis thread should be renamed how to play control. I will include a how to dominate Iron Banner guide below. Step 1. Kill your connection speed. The golden motto for this is that if your teleporting they cant kill you! and you will see the effects emmediatly starting with a reduced number of hits landing on you with the added benifit of the enamy completly raging and lossing focus, quitting and paussing to send hateful messages. Method. Change to wireless and then toss a small amount of aluminium foil on your wireless access point for good measure. Additionally another method is to move to a country like North Korea or Australia and host the game from there. Step 2.Make a lag switch. Of cause teleporting around doesn't always work and the poor connection may also disadvantage you. If your tired getting killed by things like rockets and supers this is the one for you, simply flick the switch and laugh as you stroll through there puny rockets and feeble supers only to melee kill them once you switch back on. (Added advice; be sure to teabag when you kill them as this results in the raging, rage quitting or pausing to send you a creative message to express how you are not human and are a scumbag {for added rage send a message back saying something like "I am a God" or "get wrecked noob"}) Method. I probably shouldn't put this on the forums because I may get banned so just google it. Step 3.Stop them from spawning for heavy. An exremly brocken mechanic in Destiny is the fact thaf the other team can get heavy ammo, I know shocking it is so unfair. However there is a solution when heavy is about to spawn and you are host just turn your lag switch on and off (works best when most of them are dead) This wil km prevent them from spawning allowing you to snatch the heavy ammo and cap all thd points, finally a way to fixed this unbalanced mess of a system. Using these methods will almost garuntee a fair win allowing you to get that banner rep fast!
This is satire in order to demonstrate how broken the servers are, running like ie. Ussing any of this methods means that you suck at the game and li c e in general I seriously suggest tha tf you re-consuder your life
1 ReplyThanks for this. So far, I've been having a really rough time with Iron Banner. As I've found out from this post, it's mostly because I've been playing like an idiot. Hopefully, when I get back on later today, IB will go at least a little bit better than usual.
-
Just played against a team of all hunters with shotguns. They never bothered to capture any zones. They did however bunny hop all over the map shotty gunning until they ran out of ammo. Then it suddenly went very quiet. I then noticed they were all camping the specials. Easy kills lol with supers. I don't think any one in the team knew what a primary weapon was. As far as tactics go this has to be the worst ever as we beat the living shit out of them. 23000 to 5000. I hope to meet that team again.

1 ReplyEdited by BK2318: 4/30/2015 3:31:50 PMThis is good to know. I am playing IB for the first time this week and had no idea how control works. I dont typically stray from the group but I have been in matches where either we owned all zones or the other team owned all zones and then I was being spawned in right next to the other team. It sucked. It all makes more sense now. Thanks for sharing for us noobs.
I surprisingly like PVP
100% agree and I'll add my $.02. Blind Watch: Focus on keeping C and B and don't worry about A. If you spawn at A from the start immediately go to cap C. Good sniper map holding down B from the C side. Fire Base Dephi: Focus on keeping A and B and don't worry about C. If you spawn at C work on taking A so you can spawn flip and hold A and B. Asylum: B seems to be king once held but honestly if the whole team will just focus on A and C and pick off the enemy from the middle area you can dominate. Rusted Lands: IMO one of the most balanced maps. Just try to cap 2 points, but getting a whole team of randoms to do anything coordinated is impossible. Good sniper map Anomaly: B is a deathtrap, if you can get a team to hold down A and C then you will dominate. Plus heavy spawns right at A and C. Exodus Blue: Get A and C, forget about B. If you get B then just hold down that half of the map. Burning Shrine: Get A and C forget about B. If you get B then just hold down that half of the map. Shores of Time: Just forget about A period. If you spawn there focus on capping B and C and holding them. Great sniper map, best one in rotation IMO.

5 RepliesI'll play the way I want thanks.

Edited by mattnozz: 4/30/2015 3:22:54 PMI do agree with you. But every map has 2 zones that are the easier ones to defend. You and your team really should be looking to capture and hold them. The earlier you get them, the better. Twilight gap - A and B Rusted lands - C and B Shores of time - C and B Burning Shrine - C and B Anomaly - A and B Asylum - A and B Blind watch - C and B Firebase Delphi - A and B

4 RepliesNot 100% in agreement with this post. There's a number of valid reasons to rush the enemy's 'home zone' from distracting and easing pressure off zone b to flipping the home zone if you're team began the game on the unfavourable side of the map. Also, one huge tip is to send a majority (5 if possible) to zone b as soon as the game starts. Capping zone b is critical to getting an early lead and establishing map control and more than 1 person capping your home zone is a waste of man power.
-
Yeah, single player zone captures are inefficient- they take too much longer to neutralize and capture.
-
1 ReplyId like to add one more thing: You don't necessarily have to capture the "Bad" Zone to flip spawns. It's enough just to Be in the vicinity of it. If You're very close to A on blind watch, haven't captured it, and none of your teammates is near your C Zone, the Enemy will spawn at C.
-
Bungie should print that at the beginning of each match. "Capture and defend 2 zones closest to each other only!"
-
1 ReplyAnyone who doesn't play like this needs to play like this. Good advice. But usually all the people I play with already knows this about the crucible
-
1 ReplyBump. This is what this forum needs, useful, helpful advice. Obviously the uber-neckeards are gonna be all over this, to try and further their sense of superiority by calling you out saying its shit, but ignore them. A life of loneliness and rigid socks under the bed is the future ahead of them. Thanks man!

7 RepliesI'm an assault sniper. Especially on Shores of time map. If i spawn by A i rush straight to B and pull out my sniper and get a kill or 2 and I'll stay there and defend it (high risk/ high reward) but i play control like I played domination in COD. You control 2 points, you control the battlefield. You defend the points at all costs. It's not camping, it's strategy and good gameplay. If it were clash then yeah that's being campy. Best strategy is to have 3 on each point defending...if one point is being rushed send one from the point that's not being attacked to lend assistance then swing back when things cool down. Now if i could only get a team together that would do this lmao.
