SOOO am I the only one that realizes that the "fix" of the cheesing on Crota is not really a fix. YES it stops the dash board issue but what it does is cause crota to stand up even when someone quits bc of disconnect, which is a Destiny/Bungie server issue. This is not fair to the entire fire team. If we are beating him legit and he falls to his knees for the last Sword bearer run, then someone DCs because of a server issue Crota is going to stand right back up and the sword bearer is going to be out there in strike range. Then the Sword runner will die causing the over soul, WHILE you are 2 guns down. THIS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A FIX. This is a cover our ass strategy to, get players to play the game the way we want them to, but we cant fix the bug in our game because it is linked to the console hardware not the game itself that we(bungie) were responsible for bug testing. This is not a Cheese fix. this is going to cause team wokr issues an make the over soul harder to kill even with 4 four remaining people on the team are level 32, you will still have to run back out to crota's striking range to pick up the dead guy, while under fire from boomers that 2 shot you and ogers with sniper fire accuracy. with only 3 people giving cover fire for 2 sides of boomers, 2 ogers and Crota. That is not a good numbers game for players. And if you read this and think that this isn't going to happen a lot, go back and count the number of times you have been attempting any nightfall or raid and you or multiple team mate's DCd during a raid....ok, now out of those times count how many you were able to actually finish the objective. I can almost guarantee you that it wont be above 50%. SOOOO from Bungie's plce they fixed the cheesen. ok. but this kind of scenario is going to occure and in more frequent amount, and I am sure to bungie its a drop in the pond but this serves as another example for how they view the game and how it was and is falsly promoted(Deej) Off Note: anyone else noticed that every time they release a NEWS patch, the first section, 2-4 paragraphs are all pretty talk, boasting statistics or how they have been listening to the feedback and going on an on about the work they have been doing that has taken ohh so long to get done. It is like filler in an anime like ONE PIECE or Bleach or Naruto, it never goes away, the filler is always there, just something I noticed

    Umm, they didn't say "Crota will recover from his knee as soon as a player disconnects". They said: " Crota will now recover from his kneeling state after a player quits. " What they mean is...currently he DOES NOT recover at all, after the fix, he WILL recover...like he normally should be. *And to be honest, you should know this. If you've had players disconnect during his kneeling phase, you would know that he doesn't stay down if any random guardian disconnects. There is a specific way in which a guardian must disconnect to cause the glitch.

  • I know how the glitch works, but your point raises the issue of calcification on weather or not the code is targeting the host for quitting which is what the glitch requires to work or any player for any form of quitting. I am guessing its a more general blanket cover to get the patch out the door and then MAYBE later on they will narrow the code to focus only on voluntary quitting, to trigger Crota to stand up again. I said recover but that implies his health regens which it wont. so lets just say standing up.

  • Where does it say,crota stands immediately back up after a d/c? From the patch notes it reads more like he wont just kneel forever after a d/c now. Wait to see it in game before throwing a fit.

    It says Crota will recover from his downed state when someone quits, DCd counts as a quit in the stats, thus my conclusion. Pardon me the exact word is "kneeling"

  • Yes, because as it stands he doesnt get back up after a d/c. Its just a fix for the cheese.

    Right, as of now he doesn't. But the patch which is claiming it will cause him to stand after a dc means that if someone does dc after the patch he will stand back up even if the "quit" is because of dc, unless they managed to write a code that reads the difference between the two types of quitting (dc, or choosing) which I doubt they did. But if they did I would love to see the clarification. I get the need to fix the cheese, but fixing by intentionally causing more problems with player made stra does not show me there love or care for the game. it shows me that they want to restrict the way the game is played or at the very least make the game as full proof as possible with no regard for its impact on player experience or player strategy.

  • I think your reading way to much into it now. Think of it this way after the patch,everytime crota goes down to kneel he will get back up. No more staying down for the entire fight.

  • Perhaps I am, but the detail of the code writing of a game especially in patches cause a game to evolve, by monitoring and understanding the changes and how they effect the individual play style and the community of the game, reflects directly back onto the designer as action taken Vs. action spoken of. the positive or negative effects of the code writing determine the longevity of the game, if they want their supposed 10 years from this game, blanket code writing in patches is not going to get them very close to that.
