are you seriously using a fusion on atheon.....
So on two separate occasions last night I jumped in for a couple checkpoints just for a small shot at ghorn. I have 2 level 32 characters so I was taking the relic most of the time. And in both situations I saw multiple people using fusion rifles. Wtf is that, where do people get these ideas? Just wondering if there is now an influx of noobs that have never beaten atheon who are now level 31 trying to take him down. And as a reference to anyone who thinks it's the most effective way to defeat atheon it's not. The charge rate is probably taking the time of two sniper shots bare minimum. Not to mention the lack of a crit zone whilst using a fusion. In conclusion don't do it if you have any amount of decent weapons.

I can see that there are some strong opinions on this topic, and to clarify I'm not saying a fusion rifle can't be useful in the atheon encounter. I'm simply stating my opinion that when it comes to dps on atheon himself I find that a decent sniper can definitely outdo any fusion going. When it comes to being efficient I prefer a team using weapons that do max damage in the shortest amount of time.
Edit 2:
I see a lot of references to the vog fusion being a good weapon for this encounter, and just to clarify I'd have no problem with someone using that weapon. If that was the case I'd at least have some faith you'd done the raid at some point. The people I saw using fusions were light/beware and vendor 1.0 weapons not even at 300. Should leave these at home or better yet dismantle.

Lol, week one DLC, doing raid helping the news, I'm holding the relic bubbles up, counting down. I hear that district sound... "Is that a Mur-Mur?" He tried to tell me that because it was post DLC weapon it was more powerful even with no upgrades.

With weapons of light my hawkmoon's random bullet did 10k damage one time

I am my own person and I can take whatever I want into a raid without being told by someone who thinks he's the boss, which is you. You aren't the boss of me, let me tell you that for free. No charge. Stop telling people they can't use a fusion rifle. They can if they want. You don't own people, you aren't North korea. If I see you going around once more, just one more time, telling people to stop using a fusion rifle, I'm going to tell you just what I think of you and your oppressive ways. It's bang out of order, that's what it is! Not on, really not on.

I've had to a few times back before everyone was level 30+... In the hard raid I would sometimes have to save my primary ammo for if I got teleported. ...

If you have a maxed Ice Breaker + Weapons of Light behind the relic bubble, you're somewhere around 19,445 damage per shot, you have 6 shots, and the ammo regens.

3 Antwortenif youre using a sniper youre doing it wrong as well. all ghorn all the time. really though, fusions are more effective over snipers on him if you are running with randoms. nubs tend to make him move around alot causing your sniper to be useless.

well, If the player has a good heavy, and sufficent ammo. then those fusion rifles do 1 shot the oracles. Personally I use my black hamemr, then vision on oracles. but if the player does not have an oracle disruptor yet. I would actually reccomend a fusion rifle for that player.

Once I wanted to see how well my pocket infinity worked on atheon and it did 1k per bullet so I was doing a decent amount of damage. It's not a bad way to kill atheon it's just that a sniper would be better

1 AntwortenI seen someone using shotgun againts atheon form the middle platform like 3 times in row. Everyone was 'wtf' and it ended with him getting ghorn.

I had 2 groups that everyone spammed golden gun against him and when I said he takes more damage from snipers and they should stop with gold gun I got no response other than ok and continued to spam

FRs would be a better option, being that some FRs have little to no recharge time. FRs are also very useful against oracles, even if they're rares, so if I'm the only person with a sniper on the team (IB), I still don't mind.

But... But it has to be good for everything right?! When I play Crucible, it seems to be the only gun people use, so it must be OP... And if it is OP in Crucible, it must be perfect for Raid too... I mean, I really did not realize the game had sniper rifles, handguns or rocket launchers until a friend told me so, because in Control we just sit in corners with Fusion Rifles and Shotguns and MGs. Bungie should have spent more time creating even more powerful versions of those guns, instead of wasting so much effort making a wide range of diverse weapons.

Pocket Infinity with the fast reload perk from force barrier with WoL makes it a really impressive DPS tool.
