are you seriously using a fusion on atheon.....
So on two separate occasions last night I jumped in for a couple checkpoints just for a small shot at ghorn. I have 2 level 32 characters so I was taking the relic most of the time. And in both situations I saw multiple people using fusion rifles. Wtf is that, where do people get these ideas? Just wondering if there is now an influx of noobs that have never beaten atheon who are now level 31 trying to take him down. And as a reference to anyone who thinks it's the most effective way to defeat atheon it's not. The charge rate is probably taking the time of two sniper shots bare minimum. Not to mention the lack of a crit zone whilst using a fusion. In conclusion don't do it if you have any amount of decent weapons.

I can see that there are some strong opinions on this topic, and to clarify I'm not saying a fusion rifle can't be useful in the atheon encounter. I'm simply stating my opinion that when it comes to dps on atheon himself I find that a decent sniper can definitely outdo any fusion going. When it comes to being efficient I prefer a team using weapons that do max damage in the shortest amount of time.
Edit 2:
I see a lot of references to the vog fusion being a good weapon for this encounter, and just to clarify I'd have no problem with someone using that weapon. If that was the case I'd at least have some faith you'd done the raid at some point. The people I saw using fusions were light/beware and vendor 1.0 weapons not even at 300. Should leave these at home or better yet dismantle.

I use Light/Beware sometimes on Atheon cause mine has extended range when aiming. Does the job just fine if I haven't swapped weapons around, I do agree with the noob influx though. Finding a good templar or gatekeeper group is ridiculous. I've never had to wipe on confluxes until DLC a came out and level 30s could wear blue gear.

Assuming you can land every round in the weakspot than snipers are a great choice, but fusion rifles will shell out great damage (borderline insane) while under the effect of times vengeance and require no effort (in PvE) to achieve said damage.

I feel the best setup for that fight includes a fusion rifle, mainly for oracles. My setup is usually vision/light of the abyss/jelly horn. If I run out of heavy I would hit him with the vision over the fusion.

I've been using No Land Beyond on Atheon, get on my level. No but seriously, I've been running through Atheon on normal with randoms a lot recently, just because I find the fight fun (VoG>Crota ftw) and I love using my super to kill the adds before the relic guy can get down there. Using only the NLB adds to the fun. :P

I got flawless raider yesterday with my 1.0 Light/beware that wasnt maxed, i like to keep a fusion rifle in the atheon fight for 1 reason, and thank god i did, yesterday on the second and final cycle of times vengance in our flawless raider attempt only 2 got teleported to portal with the pretorian, needless to say i think god i had a fusion rifle and not a sniper on so i could finish it, but then again i do have a Ghorn for Atheon

I carry fusion to deal with oracles and supplicants. If I have rockets, I use them. Else, atheon gets a few rounds of my 77 wizard.

I have been doing the raid since week 2 and beat him most of the times, my son frequently prevents that from happening. And since you generally get more bullets from a drop for the FR than for a SR I find that when ammo is low it is usually better to switch just for conservation of bullets. Using it as a main is a different story unless you are fighting minotaurs/Praetorians. In that case (heavies excluded) a FR is the best thing to use.

4 AntwortenLight of the abyss fires off a round of 7 beads every second or so. Each bead in times vengeance is roughly over 1200. Your telling me that's not high dps? Not to mention fusion rifles wreck supplicants.

Op, this thread is laughable. Only gally and snipers are worth using on atheon.

3 AntwortenUsing your super on atheon is much worse... it's not even affected by the buff... Gunslingers... you'd deal more damage with your primary weapon, same with nova bomb. Fusion rifles don't crit but they have a high dmg output, still nowhere near 20k per hit with Black Hammer but still, Fusion rifles are very useful to take down the oracles if you end up teleporting so it kinda makes up for it.

On the atheon encounter my set up was VoC/fatebringer, Preatorian foil, and corrective measure. I have ice breaker but so did the other 5 so change up. So usually used PF on oracles and corrective measure on atheon. 100 rounds at least 98 were Crits well I ran outta heavy helping the 29 take out the immortal Preatorian his only issue as a relic user. So I used v/f till no reload on atheon then hit him with the foil I was impressed at the damage so just kept on. Now I use horn and not in glitchie shield.
