There is actually a lot more to it than the usual "you play too much" story. She is against Destiny because it goes against her religions beliefs. It's more video games in general than it is Destiny. Facebook stuff like Farmville is okay, but Destiny is "one of those violent games".
I am a moderate agnostic, so I really don't care about others religious views. Also when I am around religious families I have no qualms about participating in prayers, songs, or whatever because these are typically fun and/or good natured, and there is no reason for me to make a scene. (I really dislike those people that don't believe in religions and take every opportunity to "inform" those people that do)
Anyway, for some reason I have been unable to comprehend, my girlfriend has decided to take a stance against Destiny. Her family has even called me and asked me to throw the game away.
I took a few days to carefully think about how I wanted to respond, and I have decided not to stop playing Destiny (despite its crappy RNG loot system, lol). The main reason why is that I just can't, in the long term, have a relationship with someone that would make an ultimatum against a socially acceptable hobby.
I thought that this may be interesting to people, so I decided to make a legit AMA post. If no one replies, that's okay.

Do not get attached to anything or anyone for it shall all be over soon. Nothing is serious. Only do what u enjoy doing for the short time u have left. Don't worry about humans and the sound vibrations that come out of their mouth. I just sounded the trumpet.....take heed.

1 AntwortenShe needs to find her own hobbies to keep her busy, Tell her to go feed the homeless or something. My wife hates video games, so tonight, she'll be watching the f...ing Bachelor, and I'll be playing Destiny. Also, I told her to hire a lawn man, a pool boy, and find a lover, Don't even care if it's the same guy.

Hate people who use religion as an excuse for an action or an opinion. I don't care how good her honey pot is, get rid of her.
-
I don't buy it. I don't think I know any religion that says video games are against their beliefs. Unless it's a brand new religion, most religions were created before video games existed. That's my reasoning why I think it's just an excuse to try to control you. In my opinion, if she can't except you the way you are now, she's the wrong person for you.

Let her go, if gaming is a passion for you and she is against it, or the games you enjoy playing, in the long run, it won't work and someone will have to decide to change. Ending relationships is never easy or fun in any way, but I play for the long game not the short. I'm lucky, my wife of 7 years will let me game as much as I want, always has, always will, cause she knows I love it. Also makes it easy for her to know where I am when she needs shit done lol. Best of luck to you.

Good decision. Being with someone who would deliver a no-compromise ultimatum for something as inconsequential as a video game will only lead to either a one sided relationship or a lot of conflict. The people (person?) calling you immature or stupid are likely naïve or simply inexperienced when it comes to relationships. Don't let the experience outright dissuade you from being with another religious person either. I'm possibly one of those people who you hate, being an atheist who would adamantly put down religion if it ever came up in a conversation. However, contradictory as it sounds, I'm married to a Muslim and we couldn't be happier. Not because we sacrificed anything between us; we are just over and above our differences. Neither of us is stubborn enough to fully deny the possibility of our opinion being wrong, and with a bit of mutual respect the idea of conflicting beliefs just washes away. We poked fun at each other for a while in the beginning but there are more important things in the big picture to do and think about. Oh, and she doesn't mind my Destiny binges.

She's fackin weird if she takes a major stance against a video game

1 AntwortenDude, first i think the story is made up and completely stupid, Haha, second... U and ur gf will NOT ever last with a different belief system solely because it causes strife and turmoil, and the fact that u contemplated losing a hobby over a human being you are actually attracted to leaves me to believe and point out a major lack of maturity, what happens if all your relationships somehow(unexplanably) happen to have beliefs about violent games? Will u always choose destiny, or games... I.E. You are immature, relationships require sacrifice, without sacrifice you will never find true love, games are games, made to be fun, your choice in losing someone u like/love only point out the epitomy of stupidity and immaturity, and also show that you have major flaws in your critical thinking and choice determining process.

16 AntwortenWhy do people think we need to know about their shitty lives? No one likes you, your life sucks, so you post about how pathetic you are on forums. Sounds like you are going places!!

You sir failed

Choosing a video game over a real life situation just highlights the stupidity of some people these days. Don't bury your head in the sand, deal with what is most likely a deeper routed problem either with your relationship or you yourself!

I thought religious people had the best imagination. O.o
-
I'm sorry I have to say this but not plating video games on religious grounds is a load of bullshit. Plenty of fish in the sea as they like to say. You really shouldn't be downhearted. If my wife's parents told me to stop playing video games I would simply give them the one finger salute.
-
How does a video game affect her life as a human being.? Video games are a work fiction and imagination oh thats religious ppl don't have any concept of those there afraid of something that they cant understand one sides and pointless .

2 AntwortenYou gotta determine how good the pu**y is. If it's good pu**sy, you quit destiny and go on your merry way. If you think you can do better at some point, then you tell her "sorry, not sorry" and do what makes you happy.

Good call. Too controlling. She sounds like one of those Family Values counsel type preachy bitches that want to censor TV, the Internet, Video Games. Don't care how good the puddy was, it aint enough. Drop it like it's hot.
