I'm sure this will get me some serious flaming, but I think it's worth posting anyway.
Starting January 1st, I'm pledging to BOOTany player from Raids I'm leading who uses the N-word. If I'm not leading the group I will simply dismiss myself after stating that I make it a habit not to play with racists.
If you would also like to take a stand against casual racism, I'd encourage YOU to do the same.
I'm doing this because I'd guess about 25% of the raid groups I put together via the forum (or join via the forum) feature somebody who seems to be using the anonymity of internet gaming as a excuse to get their otherwise-probably-contained racism out of their system. Up until now I've just ignored it and focused on doing my part in the fireteam. And while I don't think I'm going to change anyone's behavior, I just can't abide the tacit approval that my silence communicates to these people.
Pre-emptive response #1: Yes, I would absolutely exercise a double-standard and not kick a black person who uses the term. It doesn't make me a hypocrite if I'm consistent in responding to the intent of the usage and not simply it's usage.
Pre-emptive response #2: Not everyone who uses the n-word is racist? Fine, then we'll say I'm responding to the behavior an not it's inferred statement about the value of the person. But seriously, if you're not black and you use this term you're either trying and failing to sound "street" or you're racist.
If disagee with what I'm doing, PLEASE block me and/or never play with me. I can virtually guarentee you will be doing me (and yourself) a favor.

How would you know if the person saying it is black?
-
Actually, the n-word is simply a slang term for any word among the synonyms of buddy, friend, enemy, helper, etc. Its simply the interpretation and approach to the n-word that makes you deem it as bad. Let me clarify that it is not racist. If you were talking about racism you would talk about slaves and how they were "-blam!-." It was a harsh description to the black community in the years preceding the social movement led by Martin Luther King Jr. Now its used as a word AMONG the synonyms closely related to friend, enemy, etc. Its like calling someone a redneck, its a playful term and descriptive as well. Lastly, you're talking to the wrong people. I don't know how you end up with racists, but its best to confront them or ignore. You can never escape what you hate, but you sure can make a difference about it.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von leo: 2/17/2015 7:08:38 AMThe N word is not technically racist the racist version is N**er, n**a is like saying hey buddy or hey dude but it's normally used by black people so when white people use it it's kinda unusual so they take it as racism. Be happy that you've got we can say "Exlusive word".

I'll boot anyone who says f that h word bitch Also anyone using the word nerf or op H being the hunter word ;)
-
You can't be that upset if your not exercising this on everyone lol
-
So black people can call white people "cracks" and it be okay, but we can't? Plus black people refer to each other by using it.(just saying)
-
Just hate everyone equally, racism solved.
-
I take it you don't play call of duty at all?
-
Take your sjw syndrome and get the -blam!- out. It's just a game.
-
My question to you is how do you know who is and who is not black? After hearing that word are you going going to ask if they are black? Are you going to judge if they are based upon how they speak or what they say. I'm not saying I'm against what you're doing, just some food for thought.
-
Like my man Morgan Freeman says, stop talking about it. Otherwise its always going to be around...

I hope this catches on.

I don't boot people for saying racist things. I do give them a heads up that I'm not cool with it. Usually they're cool about it and stop. I don't care if you swear, drop F bombs all day if you want. I just don't find it helpful or appropriate to casually sling around racial slurs no matter what race you are.
-
I understand what your saying, but you just as easily are coming across racist by saying only black people can say -blam!-.
-
There's no exceptions for the word if one person can't say it then no one can

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von Lupinskey: 2/17/2015 6:27:17 AMGrab a dictionary, look up n i g g e r. The definition is ignorant person. The only reason racism still exists with some words because you people keep using those words out of their context, and that is ignorance. Does the word (nigg a rdly) seem racist? It's not. In fact it means to be selfish.
-
You need to get your priorities straight. No one can say it or everyone can say it, by you allowing those with a dark skin tone to say it (which in fact you won't know because you can only hear their voice and it is ignorant to base the colour of their skin on their voice) you are the kettle calling the teapot black!
pun intended
