I'm sure this will get me some serious flaming, but I think it's worth posting anyway.
Starting January 1st, I'm pledging to BOOTany player from Raids I'm leading who uses the N-word. If I'm not leading the group I will simply dismiss myself after stating that I make it a habit not to play with racists.
If you would also like to take a stand against casual racism, I'd encourage YOU to do the same.
I'm doing this because I'd guess about 25% of the raid groups I put together via the forum (or join via the forum) feature somebody who seems to be using the anonymity of internet gaming as a excuse to get their otherwise-probably-contained racism out of their system. Up until now I've just ignored it and focused on doing my part in the fireteam. And while I don't think I'm going to change anyone's behavior, I just can't abide the tacit approval that my silence communicates to these people.
Pre-emptive response #1: Yes, I would absolutely exercise a double-standard and not kick a black person who uses the term. It doesn't make me a hypocrite if I'm consistent in responding to the intent of the usage and not simply it's usage.
Pre-emptive response #2: Not everyone who uses the n-word is racist? Fine, then we'll say I'm responding to the behavior an not it's inferred statement about the value of the person. But seriously, if you're not black and you use this term you're either trying and failing to sound "street" or you're racist.
If disagee with what I'm doing, PLEASE block me and/or never play with me. I can virtually guarentee you will be doing me (and yourself) a favor.

It's not anyone's place to tell anyone else what to do or how to live. With that said I feel that racist people can't live a quality life because they are so scared of sharing the world with other people. I pity them because it seems ridiculous to hate people based on the color of their skin, but I'm just a person and my opinion shouldn't matter to anyone but me.

Bearbeitet von ScotchEggsRules: 2/17/2015 8:23:54 AMI agree with you, it does make you an absolute two faced hypocrite! Language is for all to use, you can't have words that are only allowed to be used by certain colours. Either all can or none can. How do you know if someone is black just by the sound of their voice? Are you saying all blacks sound the same? I would suggest a huge dose of your own medicine and then try never pollute these boards with your rubbish ever again. You're just embarrassing yourself...

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von Juggernaut: 1/18/2015 3:31:54 AMSanitization of human thought and political correctness are evils that need to be exterminated every bit as aggressively as racism. By creating arbitrary definitions of what words are or aren't suddenly forbidden you are trying to control the minds of other people against their will. This is bullshit and anybody who espouses this kind of stuff can get a one way ticket to -blam!-youville as far as I'm concerned. You don't wanna offend somebody by saying the word? Then don't. But I personally find it offensive when other people tell me what I can and can't say so what are you going to do about my feelings eh? I'm offended by your offense. But you don't really care about how I feel, you just want to make some smug self satisfying gesture that actually doesn't do a damn thing to confront the real problem behind the word N I G G E R. The problem is hatred for another man that is undeserved and based on fear/ignorance. Scrubbing words from the language does not change this. It's a cowards way to avoid the issue. You won't say the word but you won't walk through harlem at night either.

Such a little beeech. You are not taking a stand against anything. You are just trying to score cool guy hero points. But you are a zero. "Taking stand" when there is zero risk to your reputation, zero risk of violence, zero risk of any personal damage at all doesn't mean shit poser, get a life. Worse you are not even taking a stand against actual racist. So you are an even bigger poser than I previously stated. You are taking a stand against 12 year old white kids who are into gangster rap. Weakest saddest poser ever.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von MacheteSquad: 1/24/2015 11:25:07 PMWell first off good for you taking a stand on something you find offensive. I just have a small problem with something. It is either nobody can say it, or everyone can say it. Any other choices are in fact racist decisions. You are trying to take a stand against racism, but are in fact being racist in doing so. Saying that one group people are allowed to do something and another group is not allowed to because of the color of each groups skin equals racism. To say that black people can't be racist, is in fact racist. Again you are saying that things are acceptable for one group and not for another based on skin color. Any and every person on the planet possesses the ability to be racist, pure and simple. I have experienced racism on both sides first hand. I didn't have the best of childhoods hell I arguably didn't have a childhood. My parents weren't the best role models, they were drug addicts and spent I am pretty sure more time in jail and prison than in my life. Me and my sister pretty much raised each other and stuck together because like most children in this sort of situation we didn't trust social services/cps. We were actually more afraid of being taken away and out of the family then the dangers of being left. Because of those circumstances most of places we lived were low income impoverished areas, or lived in a vehicle that would be in those same areas. Now because of that I was the minority, its just a fact unfortunately. Most white families don't live in these areas. Most of the time my family was the only white family in the neighborhood. So as a child I got into a lot of fights. Every day I walked to school I knew I might get jumped or someone may try and start shit with me. It was usually something like this "hey white boy....." Followed by a series of random insults about how I either don't belong or am some sort of punk or pussy. The kids and older teenagers would say " Let's go -blam!- with the white boy." I would hear it and would know I am about to get into a fight. I had to fight twice as hard, be twice as ruthless, and could allow others to get away with half as much stuff as every other person. Because I was white. That one factor made my life hell everyday, even after eventually earning some respect and acceptance I had to constantly prove myself, and what was okay for a black or Hispanic kid my age was not for okay for me, it made me a "bitch ass white boy". If that sort of treatment isn't considered racial oppression to you then you need to consider the possibility that you are a racist. I have also witnessed obvious racism towards the black and Hispanic friends I was eventually able to make whenever we were outside our neighborhood, hell I would get dirty or concerned looks thrown my way because of guilt by association. I witnessed racial profiling and racist actions taken by police. So it happens on both sides, I was lucky enough to get out and break the cycle. Even though it meant leaving home at a very young age and working my ass off at every job I have ever had so that I could support myself. I have had help without a doubt certain friends I have I truly feel like they saved my life. I got a bit distracted, my point is everyone needs to be held accountable, and when a stance is taken it needs to be firm otherwise double standards will only allow the cycle of racism to continue under the guise of something else. Also racism should not be the first conclusion reached. I have been called a racist a few times when I am in fact not. Example, I was working at a pizza place when two ladies came in. I went to take their order. They were talking amongst themselves while telling me things that they wanted. I missed that one of them wanted a salad. I made a mistake and thought they were just talking to each other about getting one and didn't hear them confirm that they wanted one. When I give them the order and they ask where the salad is and I explain what happened, they raised their voices became quite hostile and immediately accused me of being racist of the establishment being run by "racist ass white people". It was not racism, it was a simple honest mistake. So please take a definitive stance one way or the other, and think about the full circumstances objectively before making that decision. To quote the stranger " A side should always be taken little light, even if its the wrong side."
