That moment when even hardcore evangelists like Pat Robertson admit that being gay isn't a choice and traits will be weeded out by natural selection.
Of course, he didn't mean to do that.
Christian Broadcasting Network host Pat Robertson on Wednesday predicted that gay men and lesbians would eventually “die out because they don’t reproduce.”
On Wednesday’s 700 Club, a woman named Crystal complained that her church had banned dating, and it considered showing interest in the opposite sex a “sin.” She said that the only married members of the church were people who had met their spouses before joining.
According to Robertson, this church faced the same threat as the LGBT community: extinction.
“You know, those who are homosexual will die out because they don’t reproduce,” the TV preacher opined. “You know, you have to have heterosexual sex to reproduce.”
“Same thing with that church, it’s doomed, it’s going to die out because it’s the most nonsensical thing I’ve heard in a long time.”
Robertson advised Crystal to “run” from her church, but he did not explain how LGBT people could “die out” if they continued to be born to heterosexual parents.
Natural selection is barely relevant in our society anymore because of all this technology and shit The natural selection argument you're using relies on the fact that animals inertly have the will to survive and must reproduce to do so If gays can't reproduce, they are not helping their species survive and will soon die out The flaw in that is that evolution is so irrelevant in our society due to all this technology and shit that we have If something impedes our survival, we'd normally evolve to overcome that but with where we are today, we'd just build something to counter that Therefore, we no longer use much of our survival instinct such as the daily struggle for food, need to reproduce, or to beat the environment So because our priority for reproduction is no longer as important, natural selection there is so slow, it's irrelevant Therefore, gays [with their growing social support and growing numbers] are unlikely to die out anytime soon Also, you imply there is a gay gene with you saying that gayness isn't a choice However, the concept of a gay gene is fundamentally flawed A gene is something that is in the family linage that they pass on to the offspring However gays can't reproduce So where does the gene come from? And if you're right and there is a gay gene, it should have died out long ago due to the fact that they can't reproduce Yet we have evidence of homosexuals existing centuries ago And if there is no gay gene, it must come from mistakes in the DNA But that's pretty weird to think that millions of people have the exact same mutation right? And even if it is, that would technically qualify gayness as a genetic disease which I'm pretty sure that many people would become extremely butthurt over

If it were genetics, there wouldn't be any, been around far too long.

3 AntwortenChristians should at least get their stories straight before hating on gays.

That's the most facepalm inducing shit I've read in a while.
