Not sure if this has been mentioned at all, but if you've seen Enemy at the Gates or have a passing interest in Russian history during WW2, you'd know Zaytsev was their greatest sniper.
On the Grimoire card for NLB it says "Rumors of this weapon's existence sent many a Guardian clawing through the corners of Old Russia, seeking its legend. Some believe its origins predate the Golden Age and served to liberate the old Earth nation from a terrible cycle of war."
On Zaytsev's monument in Volgograd his most famous quote is etched, "For us there was no land beyond the Volga".
Just a fun fact :)

Now I want the gun just for the History involved. That's awesome.

Bearbeitet von bwerbwerbhb fbfb: 12/12/2014 7:17:30 PMI do not care. I want it to shoot and kill everything like snipers do. It doesn't. This is a game, if you didn't notice guys. It has to be powerful or it will just go to my vault. It is useless now and bungie needs to fix it. - http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/84060462/0/0/1 -

His actual rifle is on display in a museum in Russia.

15 AntwortenNice trainspotting, you could be right. I would love to have that rifle, most comments I have read about this sniper rifle have been less than flattering. But then again I read a number of negative comments about the Icebreaker and bought two of those. I was pleased that I ignored those comments. I will do the same here.

Thought there would be a story like that, That's good to know hope to see more. I was hoping for a hand cannon that had the story of Billy the kid or doc holiday
-
Thanks man. I love hearing about this kind of background information on weapons

To bad it's god awful.
-
That's really cool thanks for sharing!

7 AntwortenNice find! I think that "No land beyond" is loosley based on the beastly PTRD-41 anti tank rifle though, not the mosin nagant...
-
I completely agree with you

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Dovahkrunk: 12/12/2014 3:55:50 PMGreat flick, and yeah I'd agree with you. I kinda like the rifle, I can't get rid of it. Rachel Weisz... soooo hot... want to touch da hiney... *hows like a wolf*

History is cool like that.

I guess it did kentic damage back then too. Such a pity...

I thought I recognised No Land Beyond but couldn't figure out why and now I know, thank you for pointing this out :)

1 AntwortenI use to waste hordes of thrall coming at me.

2 AntwortenNice, the backstory is better then the gun itself. Picked it up in the nightfall, and it will probably stay in my vault unless they buff it at some point. Shoots ways too slow, and the bolt action is extremely slow as well. Interested to upgrade it though and see what it crits for...

Great film, too bad the gun is horrible.

-
Backstory too OP. Justified nerf.
-
In game it looks more like one of those anti-material rifles.

1 AntwortenWar of the Rats is an excellent WWII book feature Vasily Zaitsev. I recommend it to everybody. And nice point out, mad prompts to the best mother effing Russian Sniper who dominated the war (especially Stalingrad)
