Not sure if this has been mentioned at all, but if you've seen Enemy at the Gates or have a passing interest in Russian history during WW2, you'd know Zaytsev was their greatest sniper.
On the Grimoire card for NLB it says "Rumors of this weapon's existence sent many a Guardian clawing through the corners of Old Russia, seeking its legend. Some believe its origins predate the Golden Age and served to liberate the old Earth nation from a terrible cycle of war."
On Zaytsev's monument in Volgograd his most famous quote is etched, "For us there was no land beyond the Volga".
Just a fun fact :)

The weapon resembles a Panzer-gewehr more than a Mosin... It is also more to scale with a Panzer-gewehr & a Mosin doesn't come close to the same caliber just look at the barrle width in game.... it's definately resembles a Panzer-gewehr more

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von NONT0XIK 117: 2/8/2015 6:51:20 PM^Just a short history on Vasily Zaitsev.^ But the NO LAND BEYOND looks like a Mossin-Nagant sniper with a custom SVD Dragunov stock and the wood frame shaved down on the front to show off the barrel a little more, and then fitted with an oversize barrel and muzzle break flute to fit. The carry handle and iron sights could be something to put on a medium range Mossin (No Land Beyond is a primary, which most primary's tend to be medium range) so its a medium range sniper. http://cdn2.armslist.com/sites/armslist/uploads/posts/2013/02/13/1056586_02_mosin_nagant_91_30_dragunov_st_640.jpg

Quick scoping no scoping that crap isn't actually of any use to real snipers or whith this gun. And for those of you who still have it weather or not you use, use it. Just not in pvp. Also notice that when your iron sight is lined up with the crit spot of enemies there will be a tiny, little, very small red dot that shows up at the tip of the front sight.

Doesn't make the gun any better.
-
I knew of this guy but never connected the dots! Great post, thanks for informing me!

5 AntwortenDumbest exotic, and that's saying something lol

1 AntwortenThe weapon is shit. That is the fun fact.
-
2 AntwortenYeah, It would be if not for the fact that it has no scope, and does shitty damage. It fires so softly that I doubt it would penetrate a helmet. It would just go "Pink" bounce off.

Love the gun despite the hate flowing to it Is it bad the only change I really want is the animation to the bolt? I want to spin the rifle like TLW as I wind it back xD
-
No land beyond looks nothing like his rifle
-
-
I think he used a mosin-nagant. I bought one of those the past month. Sounds like a cannon.
-
10 AntwortenOk, gotta do this, history geek moment here: as great as Zaitsev was, he didn't have the most kills, he's actually not even in the top 10. Crazy skilled and HUGE at Stalingrad in particular, but his numbers lag behind the others
-
That's actually really awesome.
-
I've watched that movie! I knew something was up! Thank you for this info. Nice reference on bungie's part. ^_^

Very cool. Thanks for that!
