Will Black Hammer dethrone Icebreaker?

Its impact is notably higher then Icebreakers (32 while Icebreaker's is 25) and it has the new perk "White Nail" with the effect "Rapidly landing three precison shots will refill the magazine."
This means that even though you only have 3 shots in the mag, it is functionally infinite once you are landing only precision shots. The dps this will have on bosses is crazy.
I think people are going to be praying for this drop and it will be a "must have". Especially since it frees up your exotic spot. THe only thing Icebreaker has on it is that it's much more forgiving and you don't need to land precisions.

It's definitely got the potential. Especially with theoretical unlimited ammo. Downside is icebreaker has actual unlimited ammo. Solo weeklies with icebreaker - no probs Solo weeklies with black hammer - no probs (providing u get constant crits in the time) That's just my opinion. But it's good to have a choice. Just use both , I would if I had them

Yes it's a legendary against a exotic, the black hammer is the better legendary than any other, if you land your shots it is somewhat better, if you have the black hammer equipped you can use any other exotic primary or heavy weapon.

Black Hammer, unless they decide to make past raid weapons relevant, will probably be stuck at 331, while exotics like IceBreaker will always have upgrades for them to remain relevant. Once we get a few more DLCs, I'm afraid to say Black Hammer will have to retire by the time Comet comes out.

I have it, it's surprisingly difficult to get three precision shots in a row, and quickly is emphasized. If you stand and aim too long, it won't count for the perk. It's good on sepiks, phogoth, sekrion, but bosses like aksor or omnigul just move too fast to use the perk. Considering that and the ammo regen, I'd take icebreaker

Crota's end - Icebreaker Vault of Glass - Black Hammer There are no spots you can go crit crazy in CE but in the VoG I can rip through Templar and atheon. Strikes: Sepiks: Black Hammer and you're done the strike in 2 minutes Phogoth: Icebreaker crit spot is too iffy for me Nexus: Black Hammer = easy kill Archon Priest: Black hammer makes him constantly flinch too. Rockets Mcdickface: Icebreaker crit spot is too small and he likes to move his head a lot. Bested the nightfall twice with IB this week. I'll admit Black hammer makes work of the tank boss before you fight RMDF Omnigul: Icebreaker, shields and heavy movement are a no go for BH I don't own a PS4 so I can't break the tie with undying mind.

Icebreaker cannot be dethroned by black hammer. Black hammer only comes close to icebreaker because of the precision mag bonus. If you miss a crit, it'll have to reload an you'll use up ammo you might need later. Icebreaker's ammo is constantly regenerating, making it extremely useful in most PVE situations. And icebreaker would be a much more effective choice in PVP. While it's not a preferred choice, it would be more useful then black hammer because in PVP, you'd have a more likely chance of missing one of the critical hits to get that bonus, while icebreaker constantly regenerates ammo.

I really don't like the way black hammer handles TBH so apart from boss damage I steer clear of it

I only use ice breaker when I'm camping and can't get any secondary ammo. Like at the oracles in VoG. I use black hammer for everything else

Situational, on any boss with large precision boxes, it's waaayyyyy better than IB, but anywhere else( like Crota for example.) IB is a better choice
