The end of the road for a 35 year old gamer, gutted.
Dear Bungie,
I'm a 35 year old life time gamer, my highlights include being top 10 in the world for the RTS game Age of Kings.
No RTS game ever came close to Age of Kings so I tried a host of other games from MMORPG to FPS; in the end I became one of the dreaded WoW players (while holding down a high level job, wife and 3 kids).
In the early years I enjoyed WoW and it was always easy to find groups for raiding and instances this became harder as my time got more limited until a couple of years ago when they introduced 'Raid Finder' which gave me a chance to raid again!!
Now I'm bored with WoW so I bought a PS4 and Destiny, I'm getting bored with Destiny far quicker than I should because I feel I have gone as far as I can go. I cant commit to a Clan and be online at X time for Z time on Y day, I get on when I can for as long as I can. So this means I cant do heroic's or Raids and I'm stuck at level 25, I cant get strange coins (apart from the very very rare drop) and only decent drop was an Exotic set of gloves for a Titan, not great for a warlock!
Why cant we have a Raid finder or Heroic Strike finder, is this it, is the best a mature working man can achieve level 25?
No decent gear and no strange coins, this is flawed, I know not many gamers are in my situation but are out there.
Please help.

The Dads of Destiny clans are casual people with jobs, children and understand others have similar situations. The group spans time zones, so people are playing at all times. There are probably other casual clans out there as well.

I don't think they'd have a problem with running you through it and teaching you what's what. Understand though that we range in age. I'm probably the oldest at 35 and the youngest is 22. We let loose with bullshit and have great fun, but we aren't for everyone. We just aren't the serious types and don't get pissed if someone causes a wipe. I can't tell you the amount of times we wiped on the Nightfall last night. We were too busy goofing off and couldn't get past the first area. Once we got it though we just got it. It's how our group works. Not a clan. Just a group of guys -blam!-ing around playing a game. Edit* You're PS4 and we are xboxone. Keep your head up. It'll happen. And when it does it'll just click. Don't be afraid to make friends. I didn't have anyone on my list until a little more than a month ago. No I have more people on at any given time than I need. And they have friends...and they have friends.

14 AntwortenYou're blowing this way out of proportion you can easily get 30 by playing two hours a day, Destiny is a game that requires you to interact with other players if you want to advance in the game quickly. You also could of just done the Iron Banner event and gotten a piece out of there that would of probably gotten you to the high 20s. I don't want to be wrong here but I get the vibe here that just because you're a mature older person with a wife and kids that you truly believe you should be cut some slack and have everything fukcing handed to you, if you're as mature as you say you should know how stupid your thread makes you sound, either stop complaining or stop playing. The world doesn't care about you and your 3 kids.

Really?! You're a WoW player and unable to move beyond lvl 25? Dude. Just grind. I've only played in a group two times, soloed the rest of the way to 29+. It isn't hard at all. I have a full time professional job and a family. It's doable.

1 AntwortenCould not agree with you more. The recent changes have skewed the game even more for those who want to pvp rather than pve. I've a level 66 cyptarch who still gives me low level quality crap, no decent drops in weeks, now I can't even farm resources to seek for marks to buy weapons and armour. The vauktof glass doors not really interest me as it totally changes the normal game dynamics and there is no in game clan system to support it. Lack of trade and decent manufacturing also really limits the scope of play. If this is all Destiny can deliver its time to look for something new.

6 AntwortenWhile I definitely understand the want for the raid finder/strike finder for heroic or nightfall strikes, I think that would be very hard to make successful at this point. So many people would join the raid just to pick up a checkpoint and bail, on a hard raid, which requires at least 3 30's and 3 29's, you'd get 27's trying to join just because they can. I'm sure they are working on something like this, but there are a lot of kinks they gotta figure out first. I would focus your time on doing bounties and strikes right now to max out your vanguard marks. Once you get to lvl 2 vanguard, you can purchase armor, 65 marks each (120 for helmet), and get to lvl 28 with that gear. Once you're 28 you'll be able to find more people on here to do strikes with (lots of threads for recruiting). I would also post a thread that you're a 25 looking for help through a heroic, lots of people out there (myself included) who would take you though to help out. I had a group of 29/30's carry my 27 hunter through the raid earlier this week. It's a good community if you know where to look:) I'm a 29 year old father of 1.5 kids, going to school full time and working 40+ hours a week. It's definitely a tougher grind for us! The same here.. Very busy working 40 plus hours, taking care of 2 kids, the wife has school in the evening. I found a good clan, Nightmare Squad, but I don't always have time to be there for raids. They helped as much as they can but it is hard at times to jump in play 30 mins to an hour at a time. If I had time I would play for hours but most of the time I have lots to do. It would be awesome if a there was a raid or weekly match finder just like the strike finder. Or maybe make it easier to join or create clans right from the destiny options menu. So that everyone who is in your clan is automatically on your friends list. It took lots of time to look up clan members and send them friend requests. Still haven't friended all members yet. Maybe I'm missing something, maybe there is an easier way. With that said, Nightmare Squad is awesome, they've helped me much. Thanks Bungie!

Dude I'm very similar, my job takes up a vast amount of my time. I use destinytracker in order to find people. There's a section called LFG where people are actively looking for raid groups and seems to be the most simple method so far.

1 AntwortenI'm 50 yrs old, work 50 hours plus a week and am at lvl 30. It can be done. If you need someone to do raids with send me a friend request and we can work on it some Saturday or Sunday.

Even if you only rank up vanguard, and do the tiger strikes you can get to 29 pretty quick. Just buy legendaries with marks, also you get a lot of blue engrams from the strikes,that sometimes turn into strange coins. Most only take 10 minutes to complete.

You can get level 29 with an exotic and 3 legendary pieces of armor without ever stepping foot inside the vault .....

Just Google destiny lfg. And there's tons of people on there looking for others to do almost anything. That's where I go for raids and nightfall strikes if my friends aren't on when I am.

Buy your helmets from the robot vanguard bloke and then you start at 26. Sadly not got a PS so can't drag you though but there are peeps here that will. Keep faith chap

41 with 2 kids and full time job. 2 level 30 characters and 1 @ 26. Mixture of luck in the raid and hard work. It's easier with friends of course but the forums help with matchmaking.

First of all I know how difficult it is to find other players to do the raid or the nightfall strikes and so on. I know the struggle is real as I had the same problem. What is more I never had luck and couldn't find any good gear. So I levelled up my vanguard rank and bought all the legendary gear. With it and one exotic maxed out you are able to get to level 29. I image that having job and family makes it difficult to find time to play but unless bungie will introduce matchmaking the best option will be to join a clan. You don't need to participate in anything just write a group message saying you want to do a raid. Sometimes doing so is enough to get a group together in a few minutes.

the boasting they said the false advertising that came true. dload issues not getting your packs when prepaid .. bad scripting and rotations bad management period. lack of everything normal with well made mmos. Receting gear after launch and expansion ..all time failure.reminds me of rusian made games like wot and war thunder. all about money and lemmings.

2 Antwortenaker wat u need to do is this. play vanguard tiger strikes till u get enough marks do bounties make sure u wear titan marks standard not faction ones. ur vanguard rank must be 2 to buy armour legendary. get the whole set buy an exotic armour engram or piece from xur. hit 26 weekly heroics with friends for strange coins . level up cryptarch for chance of package with legendary weapons. good luck bud and add a group of decent psn friends use mics get to know ppl. u need them to do things non matchmaking

What I ended up doing, to get to 29, was joining a group (more like a leisure clan) in these forums. The group I joined was the FULL Frontal Bananas. Mostly working guys and good respectable younger guys who will collaborate and assist with Nightfalls, Raids, ETC. We are a PS3 group and I'm sure there are PS4 groups similar to them. That being said bungie should have a raid/nightfall finder to assist. Also, level 30 is actually something you can only reach by chance. You will need Raid gear (each piece carries 30 light) vs regular Legendary Gear carrying 27 light. The best strategy is to get an Exotic Helmet and run the REGULAR raid until you get the gauntlets, chest piece, and boots. The HARD raid is the only one that drops the 30+ light helmet. Otherwise level 29 will take a longer time to break.
