EDIT 14: To address the waves of people who do not read my full post before commenting I am making this edit. Yes. I know that resetting increases the attack of exotics. The issue is that this resetting does not factor in the investments we have all made in our exotics. A maxed gun that is reset should not have the same attack as a non upgraded exotic. Refer to edit 3-4 and 8-10.
Exact words from the bungie dev team states:
"Starting December 9th, Xûr will offer players the opportunity to upgrade Exotics to the higher Attack and Defense values
Upgrading an Exotic in this way will require an Exotic Shard
The upgrade will reset the progression invested into the item"
So did Bungie just f%#@ over every player in Destiny? What was the point of upgrading the exotics if now we have to start all over.
When the next DLC comes out will this happen again? This is not how an RPG should be run and maintained. Nobody wants their progress reset. Does anyone actually want this to happen?
I personally spent many many hours upgrading the exotics under the assumption that once I complete that process, I'd be able to add upon that hard work I put into all of the exotic weapons.
We can not let Bungie do this. We are the players and the consumers. We have the say and we need to tell them now that is not acceptable.
Edit: I suggest keeping the current progress, but allowing the use of an Exotic shard to increase the damage of current Exotics.
Edit 2: The people who want to reset their progress are the same people who approve of congress.
Link to the notes: http://www.bungie.net/7_The-Dark-Below-Preview/en/News/News?aid=12442
Edit 3: We know that the reset is an option. We have a issue with requiring a reset to progress any further into the Exotic. We did it once, we don't feel like we should have to do it again.
Edit 4: I upgraded every exotic weapon in the game, that means for each exotic I spent 72 material and 18 energy, plus 3 days worth of bounties on each weapon. I worked hard for my upgrades. I'm sure many of you did as well
Edit 5: Leave your ideas for a solution. If you're one of the 16% of people that agrees with the upcoming change then please, put your helmet back on!
Edit 6: At the moment this post is trending, but we want to make sure that DeeJ see's this poll. It's a stretch but we have to try and convince the dev team to reconsider. If you agree, like this post.
Edit 7: Please do not spread miss information! I'm only going off what the Bungie dev team has told the community. Please double check before stating something.
Edit 8: In terms of resetting an exotic:
Currently fully upgraded = non upgraded.
A currently upgraded weapon would have the same attack after resetting as a non upgraded weapon after resetting. This means there was no point in upgrading the weapons the first time.
Edit 9: here is a link to the article detailing the changes. DeeJ has said this article is valid.

Edit 10: "It doesn’t matter if this old version of the item is brand new or fully upgraded. To complete the upgrade, you’ll also need to turn in an exotic shard." This is from the link in edit 9.
EDIT 11:
"In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected.
That conversation is already raging internally, as it always does. In the meantime, the existing plan is in place to make sure that, as consumers of The Dark Below start to become even legendier, those who don’t opt in aren’t left behind. We’re making these options available to everyone, whether they own Expansion I or not.
As always, the best way to evolve your Guardian in Destiny is to tackle new challenges and earn new rewards. We’re eager to see how you feel about this system once you’ve seen it in practice. If the past three months have proved anything, it’s that anything can (and often does) change in Destiny.
You’re a part of that process, so keep talking to us."
This is a quote from DeeJ. We did it everyone!!!!! This is huge. Our voices have been heard. Thank you again for your support.

Edit 13: As of right now, we have done the best we could do. Apart from storming Bungie, we have made a major step in stopping this from happening. This will still happen, and we still need to voice our concerns as consumers. Bungie will at the least, think twice before doing something like this again. Again, this is not over, and as DeeJ said, will be in at launch. I urge everyone to voice their feedback on that day.
Edit 15: From our lord DeeJ himself on the exotic red death in 2013.
"The Red Death isn’t a rifle that will be wielded by everyone. This bloody piece of iron will not be given, it will be found. Exotics are the legendary weapons of yesterday, hand-crafted by our ancestors and left strewn about the system. Scoring one on a mission of utmost importance marks the end of one tale for this implement of destruction, and the beginning of another. Like every element of our game, this weapon of old tells a story about the world that created it."

8 Antworten"In the meantime, the existing plan is in place to make sure that, as consumers of The Dark Below start to become even legendier, those who don’t opt in aren’t left behind. We’re making these options available to everyone, whether they own Expansion I or not." THIS is a terrible, terrible idea. Most MMOs, or any game of similar progression, don't allow you to reap any benefit from expansions if you don't buy them. It's a bad idea to allow players who don't opt in to be able to keep up with those that do. They should be locked at 30, and have no access to Dark Below-level items. When they show up to a vendor, it should show only those items that would normally exist there, while Dark Below owners should also see all these new, higher-level legendaries. They shouldn't have access to better armor, or better weapons than what they could get now. As of right now, the only things it seems we're getting exclusive to Dark Below owners are the mission content. And it doesn't seem like we're getting our money's worth there, if everyone else also gets access to better equipment too. Sorry to go off-track there a bit, but I just had do respond when I saw that.

4 AntwortenYou clearly didn't read the exotic update post carefully enough. The xur re-roll will upgrade your exotics to dmg 300 AND allow you to progress higher than that. Currently all the maxed-out exotics (with the exception of the Vex) cap at 300 dmg. So bungie isn't exactly "resetting" your progress; it's opening up a new upgrade tree for you to progress through. One caveat: I realize that the RNG perks you gained by upgrading the weapon/armor piece will be lost.
-
So you white knights get to say how great the game is. But other gamers who like Destiny aren't allowed to have different opinions of what they like or don't? Now everyone defending this needs to take a step back and realize how they sound...Deej and the dev team have asked us to voice our concerns. So get over it because no matter how much you don't like people criticizing your favorite game it's going to happen.

2 AntwortenI never even maxed out my exotics or legendarys. I never got enough shards
-
i only use one or 2 exotic primaries sometimes and one exotic special weapon often and 1 exotic armor piece so it wont be hard to re - level up 2 weapons and one armor piece if they get reset, it is unfortunate to have to do it over but at least i have like a billion strange coins so i can just buy a lot of exotic shards. now what to do with all this hadronic essence, weapon parts, and motes of light

Bearbeitet von Ouroboros_4: 12/5/2014 5:44:09 PMFix your poll. You can't have a valid vote when even the wording on the choices is spun. Edit: just so it's clear. 1. I am willing to reset all progress on my exotic and provide a shard to upgrade it to the next tier. 2. I should be able to keep all progress on my exotic AND upgrade it to the next tier for an exotic shard.

35 AntwortenSpoiled brat. They're actually making the old gear remain top tier and that's not the norm by any means. You should be happy they're keeping the old stuff relevant because every other game makes you go out and get the new stuff to be top tier.
-
11 AntwortenHas anyone else noticed that is this exactly like prestiging(?) in COD?
-
Tldr. They should really just add a row or two to the weapon exp tree. Best of both worlds.
-
8 AntwortenI seen on the news feed today a picture of the thorn after the exotic reset...the thorn attack was at 302 so your attack would still be more after the exotic reset...bump so ppl can see
-
3 AntwortenTl; Dr. The reset exotics start at 300. So all we lose are the mods.
-
15 Antworten'An upgraded Exotic is more powerful right out of the box'
-
9 Antwortenstop complaining because: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82494407
-
Will this pertain to exotic armor as well?
-
35 AntwortenThese posts are funny. Bungie throws us a bone by creating a system that would allow our gear to cross over content patches, and they get hate from ignorant douche bags like this. Most games with this MMO mechanic usually just say "sorry all that cool gear you got is now obsolete in our new content." Instead of conforming to the industry standard we get a way to keep our favorites, and people just can't see passed the fact they gotta do a couple of bounties (this time with a telemetry) to level it back up to be relevant again.
-
Won't like having to upgrade the painful exotics like, thorn, bad juju, gjallahorn etc that don't really show their strength until you get far into the upgrades. Bad juju was an absolute nightmare to upgrade without the essentially infinite ammo perk.
-
7 AntwortenIf you're being given then chance to get a higher base damage rate from your exotic weapons, then you should NOT be able to get that for free just because you spent the time and effort upgrading that exotic weapon. Otherwise, you'll have maxed out everything within a week again and be on here bitching and complaining cause there's nothing left to do. Bungie are giving you a shot to do it all again and it doesn't take all that long to do it. besides, you DON'T HAVE to do it if you don't want to.
-
1 AntwortenNot a huge deal. Upgraded gear is immediately better. Think they said Lvl up time is quicker to. I'd rather have an add on set up but doubt it'll be too bad. They could have just reset the damage/ defense unlocks while leaving the others in place. I get what they're doing. If was an add on then upgrading would be horrible for new players and there'd be no way to catch up. A partial reset, damage/ defense upgrade reset only, would have been ideal for both existing and new players but would likely be code breaking with the current set up.
-
5 AntwortenYou realize resetting your exotic is going to give it MORE ATTACK than your maxed out one right away?
-
3 AntwortenI want to know if this has to be done for every expansion?
-
I share the same concerns. My biggest worry is that for every expansion, if more powerful weapons and armor are going to be in them, we will have to keep on re-leveling the gear over and over again.
John and Bob go to Xur's car dealership. Both have 2010 Camry's. John had Xur upgrade his with DVD player, leather, v8, chrome, and alarm system. Bob has a standard model. No upgrades at all. Both have same wear & tear & mileage. They go to Xur's and Xur looks left, then right, and says "gentlemen! It's your lucky day!" In a sleazy car salesmanship voice. " we just so happen to be doing Camry trade ins today!" Both John and Bob choose identical new versions. Xur says "Geat! This model is faster and has better mileage!" "Wonderful!" They say. "After an application fee (shard) and your trade in, it'll cost you each $7000 (glimmer)." John says "Wait, what? I've been a loyal customer Xur! I spent all that extra money (glimmer) with you to upgrade my car. My car is worth more!" Then a loyal Xur patron chimes in "you don't have to buy a new car! Now shut up Meg!" John says "That's not the point. I'm taking a new road trip (dlc), I need the better mileage and speed, and I've been a loyal customer to Xur's dealership, Bungie! Fair is fair! Where's customer loyalty?" Xur turns and says, "It is what it is, friend. Take it or leave it. Oh, and if you want tires, that'll cost you extra!" John turns, frustrated, and looks at the other dealerships around the Bungie dealership. Shadow of Mordor, Isolation, Farcry, Cod, Dragonage....all dealerships that scored higher on the cars (games). Xur says "next week a few plan-cs are falling off a truck, I'll have clearance prices on those if your interested. If not, forget-a-bout-it."
13 AntwortenBearbeitet von JamesButlin: 12/5/2014 11:48:31 AMYou guys are what's wrong with Destiny. Self entitled bunch of whiners who can't even enjoy the -blam!-ing game.. Bungie have clearly put a lot of work into trying to reclaim the almost disastrous failure that was launch version Destiny (12 updates in 3 months).. They clearly listen to what we have to say and filter through all the crap you guys spew on a daily basis and what do they get in return to an update that they obviously thought would be good for the game/community? Threads from you lot saying that they are -blam!-ing us over or that we deserve a refund? Honestly, grow up guys. It's a game, we've all had plenty of time played in the game and I dare say most of you have enjoyed it. They have put an end to farming, they have constantly nerfed and buffed guns to account for PVP crybabies, they have even tried to make the DLC's story to be more what they think we will want.. I feel sorry for Deej and Bungie, this generation of gamers are relentless and never happy.

3 AntwortenYou misunderstood..
-
5 AntwortenBiased poll is biased.
-
2 AntwortenThe new version starts at 300 damage and levels up faster. It's not a problem unless you're a completionist. In that case this game will drive you nuts anyway.
