EDIT 14: To address the waves of people who do not read my full post before commenting I am making this edit. Yes. I know that resetting increases the attack of exotics. The issue is that this resetting does not factor in the investments we have all made in our exotics. A maxed gun that is reset should not have the same attack as a non upgraded exotic. Refer to edit 3-4 and 8-10.
Exact words from the bungie dev team states:
"Starting December 9th, Xûr will offer players the opportunity to upgrade Exotics to the higher Attack and Defense values
Upgrading an Exotic in this way will require an Exotic Shard
The upgrade will reset the progression invested into the item"
So did Bungie just f%#@ over every player in Destiny? What was the point of upgrading the exotics if now we have to start all over.
When the next DLC comes out will this happen again? This is not how an RPG should be run and maintained. Nobody wants their progress reset. Does anyone actually want this to happen?
I personally spent many many hours upgrading the exotics under the assumption that once I complete that process, I'd be able to add upon that hard work I put into all of the exotic weapons.
We can not let Bungie do this. We are the players and the consumers. We have the say and we need to tell them now that is not acceptable.
Edit: I suggest keeping the current progress, but allowing the use of an Exotic shard to increase the damage of current Exotics.
Edit 2: The people who want to reset their progress are the same people who approve of congress.
Link to the notes: http://www.bungie.net/7_The-Dark-Below-Preview/en/News/News?aid=12442
Edit 3: We know that the reset is an option. We have a issue with requiring a reset to progress any further into the Exotic. We did it once, we don't feel like we should have to do it again.
Edit 4: I upgraded every exotic weapon in the game, that means for each exotic I spent 72 material and 18 energy, plus 3 days worth of bounties on each weapon. I worked hard for my upgrades. I'm sure many of you did as well
Edit 5: Leave your ideas for a solution. If you're one of the 16% of people that agrees with the upcoming change then please, put your helmet back on!
Edit 6: At the moment this post is trending, but we want to make sure that DeeJ see's this poll. It's a stretch but we have to try and convince the dev team to reconsider. If you agree, like this post.
Edit 7: Please do not spread miss information! I'm only going off what the Bungie dev team has told the community. Please double check before stating something.
Edit 8: In terms of resetting an exotic:
Currently fully upgraded = non upgraded.
A currently upgraded weapon would have the same attack after resetting as a non upgraded weapon after resetting. This means there was no point in upgrading the weapons the first time.
Edit 9: here is a link to the article detailing the changes. DeeJ has said this article is valid.

Edit 10: "It doesn’t matter if this old version of the item is brand new or fully upgraded. To complete the upgrade, you’ll also need to turn in an exotic shard." This is from the link in edit 9.
EDIT 11:
"In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected.
That conversation is already raging internally, as it always does. In the meantime, the existing plan is in place to make sure that, as consumers of The Dark Below start to become even legendier, those who don’t opt in aren’t left behind. We’re making these options available to everyone, whether they own Expansion I or not.
As always, the best way to evolve your Guardian in Destiny is to tackle new challenges and earn new rewards. We’re eager to see how you feel about this system once you’ve seen it in practice. If the past three months have proved anything, it’s that anything can (and often does) change in Destiny.
You’re a part of that process, so keep talking to us."
This is a quote from DeeJ. We did it everyone!!!!! This is huge. Our voices have been heard. Thank you again for your support.

Edit 13: As of right now, we have done the best we could do. Apart from storming Bungie, we have made a major step in stopping this from happening. This will still happen, and we still need to voice our concerns as consumers. Bungie will at the least, think twice before doing something like this again. Again, this is not over, and as DeeJ said, will be in at launch. I urge everyone to voice their feedback on that day.
Edit 15: From our lord DeeJ himself on the exotic red death in 2013.
"The Red Death isn’t a rifle that will be wielded by everyone. This bloody piece of iron will not be given, it will be found. Exotics are the legendary weapons of yesterday, hand-crafted by our ancestors and left strewn about the system. Scoring one on a mission of utmost importance marks the end of one tale for this implement of destruction, and the beginning of another. Like every element of our game, this weapon of old tells a story about the world that created it."

2 AntwortenCan we upgrade non maxed exotics?
-
2 AntwortenI hope you put your game and game console into a blender so you shut up
-
More upset about the cost and waiting period to bring them forward than the reset. They should let us reset for free when we want!
-
2 AntwortenEvery game I've played that has expansions you don't get to upgrade existing items you have to farm new content hope it drops to replace existing items. So I say thank you Bungie for this option!
-
5 AntwortenIf you choose to reset your exotic the attack will start at 302
-
10 AntwortenIf you are getting the dark below it shouldnt matter to you. Better gear will be available
-
No big deal. Dont need ascendant anymore
-
1 AntwortenI assumed it would be an add upon existing type system

12 AntwortenBearbeitet von NotGaming: 12/4/2014 3:21:39 PMThe level of complaining about how this game is unfair is ridiculous. If a game causes you this much grief in your life, it's time to admit you have a problem and find a new hobby.
-
2 AntwortenBump. Nobody wants to lose their progress. Add an extra tree to upgrade it, and make it expensive. It's not that hard to think of these things Bungie, ASK the community you claim to love so much and see what they think. Take the feedback given to you and stop catering to all the "Nerf this and that threads." Aren't you as a company getting tired of the constant flak every-single-time you make an update to the game? I can understand that you can't make everyone happy. Fine. But at least don't make decisions that makes everyone MAD. I can't think of a time where I personally haven't had that bittersweet taste in my mouth every time I see an update/post from Bungie or a patch. It goes like this: "I wonder what they're going to tell us they're thinking of doing now." "I wonder what they've actually done." and then I see what is being done and all I can do is shake my head and wonder why the hell some of these decisions are being made. Maybe Deej is the only employee at Bungie that actually plays Destiny.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Demon: 12/4/2014 11:41:01 PM
It’s important to note that this process resets the upgrades on your exotic item, but you’ll now have a new higher damage or defense cap to work towards – so you’ll need to decide if you’d rather keep your fully upgraded old version of a weapon or armor piece, or start over.
Stop whining, stop bitching and calm the hell down . . . . . . It stated that in the article, If players wish to keep their current progress then don't upgrade it. Simply as that? right? It shouldn't be such a big deal since its optional.
-
4 AntwortenFirst off stop ye bitchin. This is a great thing and what ive heard is that there not wiping your exotics. But you get the choice to trade in you exotic with xur for a certian amount of glimmer and strange coins. Then get it back with more defence or damage. But doing this will wipe the stuff you upgraded. Or dont trade it and keep everything that you had before. So which is better. I think the extra damage. So all ye out there crying should stop and lets this happen

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von Zoom: 12/5/2014 12:19:31 AMBump Cannot agree any more. I play destiny myself like 24/7 on ps4 even if its an option.. everyone thats gonna keep playing wants to improve their gear if they can.. so its forcing a reset.. wich doesnt make any sense at all. I feel bad for those people with ALOT of exotic fully maxed out.. must hurt alot.
-
1 AntwortenFor the first time since I started playing about 11 weeks ago I'm wondering why I should login? That should sum it up. Why should I upgrade the suros I just got from nightfall? I can't believe it resets the entire gun. Whoever thought this out at bungie should be slapped. No way in hell I'm doing this entire perk regrind for every exotic every dlc light upgrade. Im cool with higher gear from raid and iron banner even though the raid rng is seriously unforgiving. I get that. At least we grinded bad ass exotic weapons to use along the way.
-
2 AntwortenLogically, no point in playing until the House of Wolves DLC or even the DLC after that (if there is one), at least that way you only have to re-upgrade your exotics once LOL.
-
I think bungie's lack of content is wat made them come up with the idea to reset our guns. See theres not that much for the dlc but if we reset our guns we'll have to play for a lot longer tryna upgrade the guns. Bungie/activision doesnt care about us, all they want is to get our money and keep us playing so their numbers look good. DeeJ is just a front, yes he posts and reads out posts and talks to the devs but he cant actually change the game for us directly
-
12 AntwortenLazy. It resets but gives you a higher cap. They could have just made it one extra node that was stupidly hard to build to, but you would have bitched about that too. All you people want to do is complain. Easy would have been the only thing to please you, and then you'd whine about there not being enough to do or the game being too casual. Exotic reset is weapon prestige. Except it actually does something, and that something is keeping your exotics from being obsolete. Best of FPS progression. Best of RPG progression, because next season doesn't make this season trash. Stop -blam!-ing crying.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von AsylumxX: 12/5/2014 3:32:22 AMThey just don't understand..... It's not the damage loss that's got me so upset. It's the abilities. The unique abilities are what make exotics special/above their legendary counterparts. It took me 4 days worth of bounties and dailies to unlock my thorn's DOT ability, something that makes it what it is. Likewise unlocking autotracking and extra ammo for all 3 of my truth launchers has been a pain, but makes a HUGE difference in performance. Exotics without their perks just aren't exotic. =/ If they want us to buy additional upgrades, and level those, yeah that's fine... But don't wipe our progress. Just increase the boost from the last upgrade slots to compensate for the base damage difference.
-
I do agree along with the other 10,000 people who do so also. I say bump
-
2 AntwortenThere is only one way Bungie is going to listen and make a change: 1. If you didn't buy the DLC, *don't buy the DLC*. 2. If you did buy the DLC, *don't play Destiny*. It took months for them to fix the broken exotics (i.e Thorn, Bad Juju) after they claimed they would fix them. Let's let them work for their playerbase this time instead of the other way around.
-
1 AntwortenU sir are a TURD, quit bitching already and play the game

7 Antwortenbungie is getting ripped apart on every video game website in existence, their player base is sinking, the brand destiny is reviled more than any other game that I can think of. It is time for everyone to begin to grieve and accept that destiny is done. There will be no 10 year plan, there will be no 5 year plan, in fact I doubt you will get to see their 3 year plan. You cannot undo this much damage to your brand name, once you hit this point It is over, you have failed and the pristine reputation that bungie once held is no more. It is unlikely bungie will ever earn back the trust of their community, it is unlikely they will ever see AAA success again and it is only a matter of time before rumors of internal shifting begins. They will probably get bought out by activision, pulled into the fold as a backup dev churning out bland yearly sequels of whatever and will quickly be forgotten as activision slowly merges their team into other teams. RIP bungie, if only you achieved 50% or hell even 25% of the vision you had with destiny!
-
this ain't such a big deal as you guys make of it, but I do agree with you. What pisses me actually off, is that I wasted a lot of energies on the exotics, instead of using them for legendaries!!..
-
Sorry bro, but that is an typical answere from DeeJ. If you read it twice, you will realise, that he said nothing.
-
10 Antwortenughh nobody gets it heres how it goes: When you swap your exotic to xur, the new exotic you receive will have a base damage of 300, then you re-upgrade it all over to get to 323. It wont go back to 277.. All you are losing until you re-upgrade are the perks.

8 Antworten"In the meantime, the existing plan is in place to make sure that, as consumers of The Dark Below start to become even legendier, those who don’t opt in aren’t left behind. We’re making these options available to everyone, whether they own Expansion I or not." THIS is a terrible, terrible idea. Most MMOs, or any game of similar progression, don't allow you to reap any benefit from expansions if you don't buy them. It's a bad idea to allow players who don't opt in to be able to keep up with those that do. They should be locked at 30, and have no access to Dark Below-level items. When they show up to a vendor, it should show only those items that would normally exist there, while Dark Below owners should also see all these new, higher-level legendaries. They shouldn't have access to better armor, or better weapons than what they could get now. As of right now, the only things it seems we're getting exclusive to Dark Below owners are the mission content. And it doesn't seem like we're getting our money's worth there, if everyone else also gets access to better equipment too. Sorry to go off-track there a bit, but I just had do respond when I saw that.
