EDIT 14: To address the waves of people who do not read my full post before commenting I am making this edit. Yes. I know that resetting increases the attack of exotics. The issue is that this resetting does not factor in the investments we have all made in our exotics. A maxed gun that is reset should not have the same attack as a non upgraded exotic. Refer to edit 3-4 and 8-10.
Exact words from the bungie dev team states:
"Starting December 9th, Xûr will offer players the opportunity to upgrade Exotics to the higher Attack and Defense values
Upgrading an Exotic in this way will require an Exotic Shard
The upgrade will reset the progression invested into the item"
So did Bungie just f%#@ over every player in Destiny? What was the point of upgrading the exotics if now we have to start all over.
When the next DLC comes out will this happen again? This is not how an RPG should be run and maintained. Nobody wants their progress reset. Does anyone actually want this to happen?
I personally spent many many hours upgrading the exotics under the assumption that once I complete that process, I'd be able to add upon that hard work I put into all of the exotic weapons.
We can not let Bungie do this. We are the players and the consumers. We have the say and we need to tell them now that is not acceptable.
Edit: I suggest keeping the current progress, but allowing the use of an Exotic shard to increase the damage of current Exotics.
Edit 2: The people who want to reset their progress are the same people who approve of congress.

Edit 3: We know that the reset is an option. We have a issue with requiring a reset to progress any further into the Exotic. We did it once, we don't feel like we should have to do it again.
Edit 4: I upgraded every exotic weapon in the game, that means for each exotic I spent 72 material and 18 energy, plus 3 days worth of bounties on each weapon. I worked hard for my upgrades. I'm sure many of you did as well
Edit 5: Leave your ideas for a solution. If you're one of the 16% of people that agrees with the upcoming change then please, put your helmet back on!
Edit 6: At the moment this post is trending, but we want to make sure that DeeJ see's this poll. It's a stretch but we have to try and convince the dev team to reconsider. If you agree, like this post.
Edit 7: Please do not spread miss information! I'm only going off what the Bungie dev team has told the community. Please double check before stating something.
Edit 8: In terms of resetting an exotic:
Currently fully upgraded = non upgraded.
A currently upgraded weapon would have the same attack after resetting as a non upgraded weapon after resetting. This means there was no point in upgrading the weapons the first time.
Edit 9: here is a link to the article detailing the changes. DeeJ has said this article is valid.

Edit 10: "It doesn’t matter if this old version of the item is brand new or fully upgraded. To complete the upgrade, you’ll also need to turn in an exotic shard." This is from the link in edit 9.
EDIT 11:
"In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected.
That conversation is already raging internally, as it always does. In the meantime, the existing plan is in place to make sure that, as consumers of The Dark Below start to become even legendier, those who don’t opt in aren’t left behind. We’re making these options available to everyone, whether they own Expansion I or not.
As always, the best way to evolve your Guardian in Destiny is to tackle new challenges and earn new rewards. We’re eager to see how you feel about this system once you’ve seen it in practice. If the past three months have proved anything, it’s that anything can (and often does) change in Destiny.
You’re a part of that process, so keep talking to us."
This is a quote from DeeJ. We did it everyone!!!!! This is huge. Our voices have been heard. Thank you again for your support.

Edit 13: As of right now, we have done the best we could do. Apart from storming Bungie, we have made a major step in stopping this from happening. This will still happen, and we still need to voice our concerns as consumers. Bungie will at the least, think twice before doing something like this again. Again, this is not over, and as DeeJ said, will be in at launch. I urge everyone to voice their feedback on that day.
Edit 15: From our lord DeeJ himself on the exotic red death in 2013.
"The Red Death isn’t a rifle that will be wielded by everyone. This bloody piece of iron will not be given, it will be found. Exotics are the legendary weapons of yesterday, hand-crafted by our ancestors and left strewn about the system. Scoring one on a mission of utmost importance marks the end of one tale for this implement of destruction, and the beginning of another. Like every element of our game, this weapon of old tells a story about the world that created it."

6 AntwortenHard Light. Maxed pre-patch=300 attack upgrade it and receive 302. I still have to re-unlock all my stability perks and whatnot. ...... New guy gets expansion. Then receives hard light. Gets to trade it in without any time put into the weapon and receive the new upgrade 302 attack.... Now for all you out saying but Wow does this or this MMO does it. Funny because for probably not the last time Destiny is not a MMO. It's not made by Blizzard it's made by Bungie. So please get that argument out of here since this is not an MMO.
Those attack values are just made up to better explain my point.
1 AntwortenI want the reset. It was getting on my nerves how I was starting to feel like I'd done everything and experienced all that destiny had to offer. My load outs were so overpowered and consistent, with well thought out elemental dmg types and synergy between armor/weapon perks. I can sleep better at night knowing that every minute I spent on bounties for those exotics will be available to me again with the additional expense of glimmer, strange coins for exotic shards, and planetary materials. Now I can more fully appreciate what it was like to be a lvl 25, using incomplete, underpowered weapons to desperately scrape through content designed around the assumption that I would have maxed out gear. I can't wait to try out the new nightfall since none of my 3, newly gimp, characters will be able to harm the lvl 30 enemies. Bungie knows what we want and we are going to get every last bit of it. All over our faces.

4 AntwortenGoing off of the name of the post, it's no wonder as to why. "Nerf this, fix that, WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GIMME GIMME GIMME!" If I heard that all day long, I'd wanna just push the "mute button," too. Why they made the forums is beyond my comprehension. I know they want feedback from us, but come on Bungie, you should know that people of the inter webs suck!

3 AntwortenPersonally I feel the update for The Dark Below is kind of just a slap in the face, I did the vault to get to thirty and be prepared for the new raid, and the noobs that have not even run the vault or have iron banner gear(I respect that took forever for me to grind up rep) get to buy it for marks from the vanguard. Also all the base vanguard weapons do more damage then the raid weapons. I just feel it's dumb, that I did all this work to purposefully get ahead and get ready and someone who's a fresh 20 can just buy the vanguard gear and be done. It just makes me feel that all the work went to waste, and now I have a set of trophy armor, also I feel this makes the vault obsolete for most players. It just makes the dedicated players feel cheated.

1 AntwortenI read all your edits and am confused about what you think we have accomplished. Yes they said they are talking about how to ensure that our work is respected but have stated they are going ahead with their original plan anyway... Please tell me I missed something

1 AntwortenBump. The second option benefits everybody.

6 AntwortenWhile I agree with most of it I have one major issue. And that is the part about a fully upgraded and a non-upgraded.
A maxed gun that is reset should not have the same attack as a non upgraded exotic.
Do you mean just immediately after upgrading or do you mean a converted maxed should be permanently more powerful than a converted non maxed? This is an important distinction. I agree converting a leveled (or partly leveled) weapon should give some sort of head start or benefit, but it should in absolutely no way end up better than a non-maxed that is converted and leveled (i.e. at the end they should be exactly the same.) To suggest otherwise is incredibly elitist. It says, just because they started after I did and never had the chance to get X weapon before the DLC and level it twice they should forever be kept second class guardians. However, I am going to assume that you, like most of us, are merely concerned about the loss of our own efforts and not just jelly someone else might skip some of the effort we chose to put it. I have a proposed idea that I think finds a decent balance between the extremes. It lets those of us who've put effort into a weapon feel like we get to carry over that effort instead of wiping it. But at the same time does NOT attempt to hinder/screw over/slow down/etc new players, that is not the goal here. I posted it here: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82292079/0/0

Don't you think the poll is a bit of a one sided question? " I don't mind my exotics being reset" would've been better because nobody wants it

This is what I don't like about Bungie right now, they're spouting way too much bullshit about their delusional ideas on "wow epic amazing legend" When their game is just grinding, not much epic shit is allowed to happen, not many legends have been made if 5000 people have the exact same "exotic" and the exact same armour. Everyone has done exactly the same shit over and over again non stop. Even the -blam!-ing descriptions of the loot are lazily done, most of them don't even tell you ANYTHING about the weapon or armour, they just say something that sounds cool. They're completely delusional over this game and it needs to end.
