You know, I really don't mind that upgrading existing exotics requires waiting for xur and an exotic shard. What I do mind is being required to level the entire weapon up again, losing all that xp, time, glimmer and all the old shards, energy and mats. The mats I just bought. All that. Useless. They update the system and then wait days to tell us to not use any of them just yet?
Way to go on failing your entire userbase in one fell swoop.

If it's true that the upgraded exotics start with a higher attack than they had maxed out before reset and that exotics will be quicker to level then I don't see it as much of an issue. Mats are much easier to get now so that's not much of a problem. Not so convinced on this Xur only material though, would have liked that to drop from something. Maybe the nightfall should grant one each week. Having to re-unlock nodes makes perfect sense. It means upgraded and new exotics will take as long and as many mats as each other, stopping upgrades having a time advantage on reaching cap (will matter for raid firsts and IB when it returns). You're converting your old gun in to a brand new drop of the same gun (I'm going to assume that the evolved forms are what now drop in game and from bounties) As for legendaries being replaced: that makes sense. We're levelling up again, when you level up you replace gear. The exotic upgrades are an exception for a special class of weapon. And finally: You didn't waste the time getting them you had fun playing the game, you can do so again now.

Average players won't have anywhere near the level of fully upgraded exotics that average forum users have. This will adversely effect only the top tier of tryhard Destiny addicts. I have a pretty full vault of exotics, but I don't think I have 100% levelled any single one of them. I could have, but honestly it hasn't seemed worth it compared to having a good selection of legendaries. Most of the time I have a legendary that does just as good a job as an exotic anyway. So for me, this reset business isn't a problem, I've only invested the minimum of materials and glimmer so far anyway, plus materials are easy to gather, XP is contagious, and leveling without ascended materials for the final 3 levels will be much faster than it currently is.

5 AntwortenReally doesn't bother me, I only use a handful of Exotics and there's no way I'm leaving my Thorn and Icebreaker behind

Do people really have that difficult of a time upgrading their gear? I never found the weapon upgrade mechanics to be difficult i this game...weapons upgrade very quickly....its not like some games where literally it takes months to fully upgrade one weapon. If your smart you can fully upgrade a weapon in 2 days with only spending a few hours each day....heck during the time you are working on 1 upgrade you can be upgrading 3 weapons at the same time using the bounties....

4 AntwortenWhy is this different or worse than finding the new gear then leveling it up? This is actually better. You already have the gear, you just have to level it up again. No big deal. Any game that has DLC with new content/gear will require more effort and grinding. The difference is that your current top-level gear doesn't just become obsolete. It would be way worse if they just left the current exotics in the dust and made you get all new gear. Be happy with that. If you upgrade a couple pieces to the new level before you dive in to the new content it'll be upgraded again in no time. Stop complaining.

Bearbeitet von Elazul: 12/4/2014 9:32:07 PMIf Bungie is allowed to get away with this get ready to regrind them all over again every 3 months. Let someone walk over you once they will keep doing it your entire life. Bungie, NO... NO... Bad dog! lol...

1 AntwortenThey didn't specify in the news post if the exotics you trade in need to be fully upgraded or not. If a 300 attack exotic is the same as an untouched exotic, then that's bs. I don't mind re-leveling my exotics after I get the upgraded version, so if they are going to do it this way it should require a fully leveled exotic to turn in for the new one.

10 AntwortenYou don't have to do it. It's an option to make it better. But it has a cost. No one is forcing you

Bearbeitet von cyrus f51618: 12/4/2014 9:57:40 AMWell its not like they didnt break the game before already. Maybe its a social experiment. Maybe the devs try out how far they can push the existing community before most of them leave this empty shell of a game...

Because leveling a weapon is just SO time consuming and difficult right? Get over it. It takes 2 days max bounties to fully upgrade one.
-
They already stated that the 2nd time u up it will b faster then the first. If they promise a stronger weapon then before i have no problem starting over. If ur worried about material u are losing by starting over, u are doing something wrong. I have over 100 shards and energy, plus 200 marks to buy whatever material is needed to upgrade. Stop complaining! At least they giving an options to make old weapons better

THE FEATURE ISNT EVEN IMPLEMENTED YET YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT WILL AFFECT GAMEPLAY SO PLZ STFU AND JUST PLAY THE GAME

27 AntwortenBearbeitet von Slingshot66: 12/4/2014 9:53:59 AMLast I checked, you weren't required to do shit. The exotic upgrade is an option. You want to keep your exotic armor at a light level 30? That's your choice. Want to keep your exotic weapons at 300 attack? That's your choice. Want to upgrade them through Xur and make them more powerful, and useful in PvE... that's your choice, and you're going to work for it.

37 AntwortenThis is absolutely heart breaking!!!! I'm totally hooked on this game and every spare moment I have (which is very little with 2 young children and a wife) I spend grinding through the guardian and weapon levelling up system! After 4 months of minimal sleep and maximum frustration I'm being told that to progress further I need to give up all that I've earned in regard to my exotics?! Come on Bungie surely there's a better way?? Don't do this to us Destiny Dads!!! Please??!!!

I agree, the game is going to suffer from this decision. I love Destiny but it will decrease its user base by implementing this horrible plan.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Salt_AU: 12/5/2014 11:26:24 AMAlmost every single gear progression based game would render your old item USELESS. You should be applauding Bungie for doing the right thing and allowing current Exotic equipment to still be relevant. Most gear progression games would not. Aren't you thankful.

18 AntwortenYou've lost your mind! This is standard fare for similar progression games. You're here freaking out about digital nothing acquired by hours of being completely immobile. And all of these things will not advance you in society, it's not a reflection of your worth. It's a reflection of how you actively choose to waste your time. I would be sympathetic to you if you had to donate blood to power your console via a direct tube hooked up to your arm that plugs into the console itself. Or if it gave you cancer daily and that was your cross to bear in exchange for in game materials. It's not. Put down the controller and finish your homework.

Bearbeitet von THE COUNT DANTE: 12/5/2014 7:07:35 AMSee, you say you mind, but you dont. Not really. Your inner carebear hoarder is thrilled at the chance to come back here and post about how you re-leveled all your stuff and how you rate a cookie for it.

I called in sick from work too many times just to Destiny. Major Bumpage!

25 AntwortenBearbeitet von thearchaic1: 12/4/2014 2:57:02 AMWhat you people have ALL failed to read is that the hard mode of the raid will not be out for another month. Yes, it comes out in January. Plenty of time to get a weapon leveled out to its maximum damage to do the raid. And, only primary weapons will be rewarded through the hard mode. So we should be getting special and heavy weapons in the normal mode. People just need to read all of the article before they make dumb ass comments raging about something they only know halfd the information about.

You are not upgrading it. You are trading it in for a version with higher base stats. Why would a completely new gun have all the upgrades of the one you just gave them in exchange?
-
Does the reset apply to players without the expansion as well?

1 AntwortenAn upgraded Exotic is more powerful right out of the box
-
2 AntwortenYou used them to get to 300 damage now you do it to get to the new max.

1 AntwortenI want my 35$ back as this was not part of the vision I was promised. If I had known about this I would have stopped with Destiny so much earlier.
