Honest question. The gunplay is exactly the same as pve, but without the predictable (and frankly crap) ai.
Don't get me wrong, Im mainly a pve player, but if you like shooting stuff in pve what is the big difference? Can someone let me know what they dislike so much about pvp that completely stops them from playing and/or enjoying it?
Edit: btw, I never use a mic so don't have to endure "trash talk"
Edit 2: just for clarity, I'm not a big pvp player. Dropping in for bounties is fun, but I only max out my crucible marks half the weeks of the month. I'm just trying to find out why some hate it so much even though gunplay is the same and have gotten some really enlightening answers. Thank you

PvP tends to be a lot like pve in regard to players tend to repeat the same habits. PvP in this game just isn't rewarding. If I really want to PvP I'll go play QuakeLive.
-
People in pvp are just as predictable
-
I didn't buy this game for pvp, it was supposed to be all about pve and that's what I wanted. I don't mind playing some pvp for a weapon bounty or the daily bountys but if want to play pvp I play some cod or battlefield 4. With huge maps, shit loads of vehicles an 64 players in a game, the tiny 6 on 6 maps in destiny are crap.

The beauty of this app/website is that you can look at another player's stats. What I've found is that most of the people who "don't like" PvP are just bad at it. Not everybody, but a definite majority are below average. I understand that you wouldn't want to play a game that just keeps kicking your butt. I understand people who prefer co-op over competitive. I just don't get the people who say it's "trash" or say it's for "noobs". I hear that argument a lot, and in most cases those people have a low KD and a very low amount of time played. I came to Destiny for the PvP. I've always enjoyed competitive MP over co-op. I basically use PvE as a change of pace. Or as a way to warm up for PvP if I've taken some time off. PvP isn't for everybody. I just don't like the players who talk down about it just because they can't find success. It requires a different skill set while still using the same PvE mechanics. It should be a fairly decent transition, but apparently its not.

10 AntwortenBearbeitet von TheArtist: 12/2/2014 3:21:20 PMThere is a lot of really toxic competitiveness and adolescent acting out that run rampant in competitive FPS...and some people just don't want to deal with it. Other people just have a personality that is more geared towards cooperative activities and than competitive ones. So they simply don't enjoy the individual competion that the cornerstone of such game activities. Still other people are older gamers who have lost speed and quickness over the years, and simply get tired of being "out-twitched" by angry 15 year-olds who mistake "youth" for "talent". I'm a middle-aged man, so I don't take the toxic nonsense personally....but even I find it tedious and tiresome at times. It's like going back to the high school playground. But with NO adult supervision to rein in the would-be bullies.

I hate the delay. It's so noticable I can't stand it. I pay more attention to the score popping up on my screen announcing my kill than seeing for myself if the assailant is actually dead.
-
Are you me? I'm PVE guy all the way, but I drop into crucible maybe once or twice a week for an hour and thoroughly enjoy my time there.

1 AntwortenMostly because I don't enjoy the community associated with pvp. I am the first to admit I'm not very good at it. Not terrible, but certainly not great. I am certainly not good enough that I would inconvenience 5 strangers by burdening them with my presence. But more than that it's that I really don't enjoy how people act in pvp. That's not say that everyone who is in the crucible is a raging douche, but not everyone has to be. There just needs to be one in the group to make it a negative experience. If I could play pvp with just my friends, as in my friends are on my team and my friends are on the opposing team I probably would play it a lot more.

Bearbeitet von MightyJonE: 12/2/2014 8:17:10 PMRunning around at speed, mindlessly shooting one player after the other has never appealed to me. After 2 or 3 crucible matches, I'm done for the month, and have hardly played it since the game's release But I did complete IB2 to level 5, mainly due to the level/reward system giving me a focus and motivation to play. There were moments when I enjoyed IB, though I'm in no hurry to do it again for a while

Bearbeitet von cage_gexy: 12/2/2014 11:23:08 PMOk, why I dislike PvP... Well I Do Not dislike it in general, I have played BF4 and BFBC, tralala, I dislike it in this particular case just as I dislike CoD. Just run around and gun them down. You could say now PvE ain't that much different. Well I can not remember getting Teabagged by the Cabal or the Vex. Also I am not confined to a tenniscourt big field with obstacles in it. You may also say "you just suck at PvP", well that is not really the case. BUT even if you shine at PvP you are not getting rewarded for your efforts, last match I took part of the fith of us got a mote of light and the top scorer in our Team got nothing. NOTHING! Poor bastard... I could to this all day but I spare you guys that. So bottom line: I Do Not like PvP in Destiny cause of the attitude of the guardians there, the lack of reward and the lack of Freedom PvP has to offer. P.s.: LAG, I forgot lag, big issue there and the new word I learned in BF4: NETCODING.

Because Im special.

Why do I not like PVP? Cause I -blam!-ing suck at it haha. I get worked every time. You could be level 5 and you would work me.
-
It's seems to be almost exclusively CQC. I prefer mid to long range. Most seem to run AR shotgun or AR fusion rifle. Rarely see a sniper but usually only in a few long hallways. I'd like to see more stuff like the blood gulch halo map. This wouldn't be hard to do they could just convert areas from the PvE maps like the moth yards. Then there's the lag ( much better now). Seen up to 5 sec delays in registering a kill.

21 AntwortenNotice how no one who is good at PvP hates it? Funny coincidence....
-
I don't like it because I feel like its force fed to me and in a 3 hour window I have more fun doing strikes and patrols I see more purple engrams drop in patrol than I ever have in pvp I have no use for blue garbage anymore
-
Fusion rifles namely the infinity and plan c. I don't mind them in the right situation but people run around using nothing but these. The reason I don't play crucible, especially with a fusion rifle spree bounty.
-
I have played some PVP on other games such as CoD or Halo, and it's not bad, but I've just never really gotten into it. It doesn't help that the balance in Destiny's PVP is horrible.

1 AntwortenI'm not good at pvp and I do the daily pvp event and that's it. Sometimes I win, most of the time I loose, and all of the time I'm pissed off since I can't figure out when the other players are. When I do find them I'm dead. I should play more and learn the maps but then I would be pissed off all night. This is my first time ever playing a FPS so I'm way behind in the skill category but I'm trying lol

2 AntwortenI'd say a few things: 1/ It's highly connection dependent. I live in a small country in which Destiny isn't very popular, so I'm playing with people in other countries, often quite far away. Lag is never fun. 2/ The structure of PvP encourages some sorts of play more than others - the maps, the movement speed and jumps, high-damage melees, and so on all encourage medium and close range play. I personally find stuff like 'Blink - shotgun' dull and would prefer not to be faced with that as often. 3/ It's too abstract. In killing enemies, I can put myself in the fiction of the universe and get involved. In PvP, it's shooting uniforms and capturing meaningless posts. If I wanted abstraction, I'd play an actual sport or something like Tetris. I find playing PvP makes me less interested in both PvP and PvE. 4/ I generally prefer playing cooperatively, and tend to get too competitive when I do get invested in a match. Combined with point 1, this isn't a good thing. On the rare occasions I am trying in a match and get involved, then get killed off by lag or get randomly disconnected, I tend to lose it. I'd prefer to avoid things that tend to make me do that. 5/ I find the push towards PvP in Destiny is frustrating. Four vendors take Crucible marks/rep, compared to one for Vanguard, and that's not including Iron Banner. Iron Banner is the only mode for getting level 30 gear without relying on RNG. Two of three events have been entirely PvP, with one being half and half. 6/ Nearly all the Crucible modes amount to some variation of Team or Solo Deathmatch. Even Control is only partially objective-based, applying multipliers to what's otherwise a standard Deathmatch set up. There's not much in the way of supporting your teammates the way there is in some MMOs, with buffs, debuffs, healing and so on for teammates who don't just want to do yet more shooting. 7/ Matchmaking does an awful job of matching up teams with parity or grouping people together into matches with comparable skill levels. It also throws pre-made fireteams against randoms, which is poor form - although some patch was supposed to cut this down a bit. Finally, there's no way to set up custom matches of any kind. For a big budget game with a heavy PvP emphasis, matchmaking is a huge mess. 8/ Balance isn't very good. Some classes are more powerful, some weapon types and examples are clearly better, level makes too much of a difference (with things like perk, even if health numbers are normalised), and secondaries outclass primaries by a lot, meaning you get a ton of 'shotgun v. fusion rifle' battles. I'm sure there's more, but off the top of my head, those are my justifications for not liking PvP.

Bearbeitet von BlaqSpiral: 12/2/2014 6:56:36 PMIts CODesque maps with Halo mechanics... not what I was looking for. For those citing stats for why people don't like PvP, perhaps its the lack of interest that is the reason for the stats. If you really don't enjoy something, but are forced to do it for equipment, are you really gonna take the time to get better? So couldn't the lack of enjoyment be the cause of bad stats v. the other way around?

1 AntwortenToo competitive. I play games to relax after work and pvp is all tea bagging and competition and stress. I never feel like I’m accomplishing anything in PvP (not that the PvE in this game gives you a great sense of accomplishment either I know) Different people just look for different things out of games and find different styles enjoyable.

I'm rubbish against people as I don't learn the maps fast enough and people always seem to find a right combination to go around killing me easily. It's my own fault no one else's I'm just not good enough therefore I stay clear until I'm forced to go in for a bounty :(
