So as some of you will have seen in the trailer for The Dark Below, Crota is the Knight holding the Sword of Crota. His design seems slightly underwhelming for a "Hive God", so what if Crota is just a sub-boss. We hear from Eris that Crota is the son of Oryx and in the trailer we see Crota standing on a strange glyph which is lit up. Crota could be conducting a ritual to summon Oryx.
I have two theories:
1. We destroy Crota and when we think it's over Oryx is summoned as the true final boss.
2. We have to destroy Crota before he summons Oryx or we fail.
Feel free to add your own theories or to add or correct anything on mine. I look forward to hearing them.
Edit: here's the trailer for those of you who haven't seen it yet - http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GSlgVy4Vnv4

Oryx is in a different dimension altogether.

5 AntwortenIn the video it says crota son of oryx plus in the shrine of oryx mission your ghost or "what ever you call him" says the shrine was communicating with a source or force right outside the borders of our solar system. And if this is true I am led to believe that there is a hive-tomb ship with oryx inside and if crota is considered a god and almost unstoppable just take a second to imagine how strong his father might be, that even the warlock Osiris put destroying the shrine the number one priority.

8 AntwortenI don't think that was Crota in the video. I think that was a large amount of hive summoning Crota

Croat is story boss, oryx is raid boss

Crota has many forms. His final is the over soul. We have to kill his soul to kill him for good
